We used Magic Cleaning for over a year to clean our vacation rental. A few minor hiccups with schedule occurred, but Marta always made it work when it was brought to her attention. The reasons we stopped working with Magic Cleaning as follows... We were often unsure if the company had the schedule correct. We have a remote door code and know that they would sometimes wait 2 or more days after a guest left to clean our unit. This leaves wet towels in the washing machine for that time. We had multiple complaints of mold in the shower. Marta told us this could not be corrected without repairs.. When we visited our condo, we were able to remove the mold with a simple cleaning process. Marta recommended a "deep cleaning" when I sent her our October schedule because of a long stay. We (owners) were to be the next guests staying there. When I confirmed she was doing a deep cleaning before our arrival, she acted like she did not know why I would want that. She said she would make it happen though. When we arrived at our condo, the furniture was moved to the extent that Ottomans were in the dining room and living room furniture had been rearranged. As we inspected further, we found hair and dirt everywhere. There were none of the items that her service is supposed to provide either (soaps, sponge, toilet paper, etc..). There was a large tear in the faux leather sofa that was never reported to us. When I wrote Marta, she could not explain but said she would not charge us. As our family was with us, and this was quite embarrassing to keep finding more dirty items, we decided to move to a new company. I will say that Marta was usually responsive, if you reached out to her. However, it felt like you had to pay very close attention to make sure the schedule was right and things were getting done. Magic tried to accomodate us in the middle of a busy schedule as we were in a bind. Their time was very tight and in the process the missed a few relatively small things. My beautiful condo rental in Na Hale O Keauhou has been serviced by this company for the past 12 months. I live off island. While I was initially happy with their work, as time went by there were multiple problems with their quality and thoroughness in cleaning and maintenance. Even after I came to Hawaii and met with their manager at my home in December, going room to room and identifying specific items that need to be cleaned, their service failed to meet very simple standards. There have been reports by my guests of mildew in the bathroom showers. On our own arrival in April, the master bathroom itself smelled horribly of mildew. Simple to clean but neglected. On more than one occasion the barbecue has been filthy, packed with grease and droppings. The upstairs lanai has been dirty, not only with bird poop on the railing but gecko droppings and dirt on the floor. The garage floor was dirty with sand. They failed to notify me when the blinds in the family room we're broken preventing the blinds from opening. When my guests arrived they pulled up the blinds and found mouse droppings there. On their final cleaning there were dishes in the dishwasher that were not washed and the carpet was not clean. There were multiple lightbulbs that needed to be replaced which I was not notified of. At the time of their final cleaning, the owner complained to me that the toilets were dirty and there was toilet paper on the bathroom floor. My guests did not leave our home in a mess and are not expected to clean the toilets or wash the floor before they depart. That is their job. The owner wanted to charge me double her normal rate for the cleaning but because she acknowledged the multiple problems I have had with her service, she offered a $50 discount from the doubled rate she wanted to charge me. The owner was paid for her services, despite my complete dissatisfaction with the quality of her company's work. So sorry I did not terminate their services earlier. I gave them multiple chances to improve, only to receive excuses why they didn't. read more

They leave no stone unturned! I had a move out clean with them. This was cleaning at a level of dedication and thoroughness I have never seen in my life and I have had cleaners for years. Literally everything was lifted up, they didn't just clean around things, it was totally thorough, through every layer. I was in a rental that hadn't ever been cleaned really thoroughly and when they were done it felt brand new. You could have done surgery in there. And it looked and felt like a much more attractive place to live, lucky landlord! He raised the rent after I moved out. Marta was incredible. Not only did she return my call immediately, but she set me up with an emergency service for that Saturday. My husband was coming to see our house in Hawaii, and he bought the house with me last December without seeing it. Since this would be his first visit, I wanted to make the visit special for him. I had already remodeled some of the house, putting in new bamboo, painting, replacing light fixtures and faucets, so the place was covered in drywall and contractor dust. Marta sent Ivy, who was spectacular. Ivy knew exactly what to do, and they both showed a lot of concern for my happiness and satisfaction. Ivy was very concerned that after vacuuming my blinds, they were not coming clean. The dirt was embedded from years of neglect. She offered to wash them in the tub, but the blinds are 25 years old and would likely crumble. She also said it would be cheaper to replace them than to pay to wash them. I had used Marta's cleaning service for a move out at they end of July. I had gotten a quote through Yelp but I didn't call until a week prior and left a message. I didn't hear back from Marta and so I followed up on Wednesday needing the cleaning on Saturday. So when she got back to me she needed to see if she could get someone last minute. Well she ended up finding someone who could make it on Saturday. She reassured me it would be for a deep cleaning because she knew it would be a move out. So the gentleman arrived on time on Saturday and was friendly! I would say his general hygiene lacked which should be addressed if you are coming into people's homes especially to clean and you are going to get sweaty so let's just say the smell was strong. That's no judgement to him as a person! He was friendly and courteous. What gave me a red flag is when he came in to our place he didn't have any supplies in his hand. I figured maybe he was wanting to check the place out first. He looks under our sink and finds out only cleaning spray because we basically moved everything out. Then I give him a bag of rags that I said we had saved just in case he wanted extra. From there nothing came out of his own personal supplies. I was confused by that. I asked if he had oven cleaner and other products and he said he does in his car but didn't ever go to his car. Red flag up! So I explained that I wanted everything wiped down and bathroom scrubbed as well as floors except the carpet. We left for a few errands and 4 hours later he was gone and there was a note saying he was done. I looked around and smudges on the cabinets floors swept not moped, ceiling fan dusty, tub not scrubbed, under toilet not cleaned and soooo on! I called Marta and explained that this was not what was expected as a deep cleaning. I sent pictures and she was so apologetic. She wanted to make it right. She had called the cleaner back and asked him to come back and go over the things missed. He came back and walked in with one rag and no supplies again and basically made an excuse of why he didn't have his supplies. Well long story short he didn't do much after the second time around. So I had to go over his work to ensure that I would be cleared for inspection. Marta was so apologetic and wanted to make things right. She gave me a discount. It was around 40% off which I felt was fair and I knew she had to run a business and times are hard. I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of the job but instead of just leaving it as an issue Marta tried her best to resolve it and that's why I gave her the 3 stars! read more

I'm writing a review to be very honest about my experience with Magic Cleaning. When I was searching for a cleaning service for my condominium I was looking for great reviews and a service that was run with integrity. I came across Magic Cleaning which had solid reviews so I used them to service my unit after a rental. I would like to first compliment that Kelly the manager came out to my unit to do a walk through and a estimate for servicing my unit. She was very kind. The team at Magic Cleaning did a nice job on cleaning however failed in many other areas. After inspection of unit serviced by Magic Cleaning I found lights left on in unit, two lanai doors unlocked, an abundance of liquor was stolen or thrown away, bath towels used by last guest not cleaned, smelled horrible and put back on towel rack, bottles of shampoo/conditioner and lotion that were more than half full were thrown away. After repeated calls and an email to Kelly the manager no response was ever granted. I reached out to Marta to rectify the situation and nothing was accomplished. I requested Marta the owner to meet at my unit to explain my situation and so we could have a better understanding with each other. Marta agreed to meet and then she no showed. After no sincere apologies, no reimbursement for items thrown away or any attempts to retain my business I found that Magic Cleaning didn't take much pride in customer service. read more

With my hectic schedule, it seems I never had time to get around to do anything more than the bare necessities of getting the laundry and dishes done. The house really was starting to show the lack of deep cleaning that my schedule (and bad back) never really allowed me to do. I found Marta on Yelp and gave her a call. I explained to her that the place really needed some extra care, and that it would probably be a big job to get it back into shape. We agreed on a timeframe that suited my schedule - which included waiting at least a week to book it in. If you need something done immediately, you may need to wait because, well, she *does* have a business and books these things in advance. She will try her best to fit you in if she can. The women arrived about 9AM, and went to work. I gave them a tour and explained what I wanted done, and then I went back to work (I was working from home, out on the lanai). Aside from getting them the ladder so they could do the ceiling fans, I never heard another word from them. Having them put BOTH bathrooms out of commission at the same time was a bit of bad planning I thought, and I heard a couple of crashes - but all seemed to be fine, and I haven't found anything broken. Complaints I have about the work is more to do with the follow-through, as opposed to the clean itself. Yes, there was one window that looked like 1 pane of glass that was missed - but when I had 30+ in the house to do, I can sort of overlook that. The puddles left on the floor of the bathroom were pretty big (I had to mop them up myself when I found them), and I am still not sure what happened to one of my towels that was dripping wet that I found. I never got a chance to review their work with them before they left, but in their defense, I had a couple of conference calls that afternoon that they didn't interrupt. Around 6 hours later (yes, a total of 12 hours of cleaning with the 2 of them) I happened to notice that they had left, with an envelope on the dining room table. I was surprised at the amount of things they moved to clean underneath - but never put back. I will be searching for things for a while...but I know they were cleaned! I *am* happy with their work, and they had a LOT of work to do. At this point, I just can't justify a 5 star rating. I willingly paid the invoice - and Marta gave me a discount because the job was so large. There is even a business card to receive another discount if you have 5 repeat visits. I have a feeling that I will eventually be earning that next discount...and will not wait so long to book a repeat visit. I will revisit my rating at that time. I would definitely recommend this service for a standard home cleaning. read more
