We had no clue what was on them as I never marked them after I had made the recordings. They did a good job, I spent the next day watching them and making note of what was on them, I was satisfied that I could trust them with my memories, I have given them another 10 videos to convert. The place was a bit busy with only one person manning the desk and answering the phone, there were three others waiting to drop off /pick up their tapes, but it went fast. The place is a bit hard to find with all the road construction in the area, but their front door has a direct view of the new Artur M Blank children's hospital.

I have 4 records (78's circa 1961) and 5 VHS tapes (circa '95). They are recordings of my mom who was a mildly successful jazz singer. I thought these items were lost as they were in a storage unit in New Orleans, where we're from, when Katrina hit. In a strange and lovely chain of events, I got them back recently. They are, of course, not in the best of shape but, do have salvageable data. I spoke with Steve on the phone even and conveyed that they were old and damaged. He assured me they would do as good a job as possible. I got everything back yesterday and I am shocked. They didn't even bother cleaning the records before transfer. Nor did they bother to separate the cuts. Each album side was a recording. Obviously, the sound quality was tended to and every scratch and hiss to be found was found on my recordings. The VHS tapes were no better. The sound was stretched in spots. Not a surprise but, they did nothing to try and improve it. And, all of the DVDs were returned with recordings of the entire VHS, in other words, all the blank tape at beginning and end. The work was sloppy and lazy and the results worthless. It was not cheap either. I emailed Steve my disappointment and have gotten NO response. Obviously I also got not offer at a refund; partial or full, which is what I'm due. Being a small business owner, I write reviews regularly because I know how much they can help your business grow. In all my years this is only the second bad review I've ever given. I hope it helps you choose. If you have a very simple job, I'm sure they can handle it. But as they do not actually attempt to restore old recordings I find Nostalgic Media to be a very misleading name.

There are cute shops, lots of options for sweet treats (bakery, gelato, specialty coffee and tea, etc.) as well as lots of options for light bites, heavy meals, group activities or fun drinks. We patronized a few businesses as we walked, but I also enjoyed these leaf dress displays on the corners (see pics). It reminded me of the art displays large cities often have were there'll be a painted animal (cow, fish, horse, etc.) on various corners. Trilith is a good location if you're looking to burn some time and take in a meal while doing it. I've never been to any of the special events in the area, but have heard good things.

When I entered I was provided a brief introduction and a list of rules. You can take pictures but no flash and no touching items unless it specifically says you can. Employees were welcoming. They have a museum donation box so you may want to arrive with cash to support. You can find benches outside in a shaded area and a water feature and a piano. I went through the museum in about 30 minutes. I did a scan and read a few items. I definitely recommend if you're in the area. And Hapeville has free parking! You can find spots a few feet from the museum.

This is…read morea review for a job he did a few months ago, while he was at the end of his lease on Flat Shoals Ave. The job was just custom-cutting 3 mats for 3 store-bought frames I already had. We had a great conversation about Atlanta, its arts scene, development around town, etc. Since my job (and artwork) was so small, he offered to save me some money by using leftover pieces of a high-quality archival mat board. Very helpful. We discussed that one mat in particular was to be given as a gift that Sunday to a visiting relative, and he assured me it would be ready for pickup by Friday or Saturday at the latest. Sadly, no call until the following Wednesday. Minus one star. The mats all look great, but the way they were done really shocked me: we discussed the artwork being hinged to the back matboard. I've only seen it done this way with the front mat window hinged at the top to the back mat, so that you can lift the front window and see the artwork attached to the back mat with photo corners. What I received was the artwork completely sealed between the two pieces of matboard. Like, permanently sandwiched and trapped between the front window and the back piece of matboard. Which means I can only re-frame the artwork into another frame of exactly the same size. And if anything happens to the matboard, the artwork would have to be rescued with an exacto knife, thereby cutting the original artwork to the size of the mat window. Is this a technique others have used or even heard of? Like I said, it looks good, but I believe all 3 pieces of original artwork were, for all archival intents and purposes, destroyed in this process. So minus one more star for this--?? It leaves me quite freaked out. I'm interested in re-framing them to get better UV protection, which is why this is coming up now. Wish I'd written this earlier to warn others, but better late and damaging than never, I guess???

Paper Plane Gallery is a new spot in College Park that just celebrated their Grand Opening last…read moreweek. They are off to a strong start with their current show, titled New American Works 2016. The exhibit showcases some of Atlanta's finest with high quality, affordable work. The gallery space is intimate but definitely large enough to move around and mingle. The owners are awesome and super enthusiastic about the College Park neighborhood and growing the art scene there. You should definitely check this place out. I know it will be on our regular rotation and I look forward to upcoming shows!

It created a buzz when announced,…read moreprobably because the College Park/Hapeville/East Point area is home to a ton of artists... painters, writers, graphic designers, photographers, those who work in film, etc. The grand opening, held on June 9, 2016, justified the buzz... tons of neighbors on hand, and I for one met a lot of folks for the first time. Several said they lived within 3-4 blocks of the gallery, but I hadn't met them before despite living in College Park for 19 years... I guess that's what good art does, it can bring people together. The current exhibit, comprising works by artists from Atlanta to Portland, is vibrant, with a wide range of styles. The prices are affordable. Credit to the owner for curating a space that feels cozy - it's a smallish room - and presents the artwork in nice light. I expect to be back often.

Your ticket to the museum includes a bus tour of Jonesboro. There is a morning or afternoon tour, and from what I understand each tour takes the same route, however the earlier tour has a historic Jonesboro narration and the afternoon tour has a Gone With The Wind narration. I didn't realize that the tours had different narrations, so we ended up on the morning Historic Jonesboro tour. The tour was nice, but I really enjoyed the museum. It's filled with GWTW memorabilia and information about the Civil War and Margaret Mitchell. My favorite display was the wall of GWTW book covers from all over the world. I also was really impressed by how much they had in their gift shop! The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Overall, I highly recommend this museum to GWTW fans. I'm so glad I got a chance to visit here.

Jonesboro…read moreis where the final battle of the Civil War Atlanta campaign was fought and is the location of the mythical Tara Plantation from the novel. The museum is rather small but nonetheless interesting. The museum is divided into two parts. The smaller of the two is devoted to the Battle of Jonesboro. It thoroughly describes the strategic importance Macon & Western railroad that ran through the town. The chronology of the battle between Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's Union forces and Gen. John Bell Hood's Confederate forces is laid out well and easy to follow. The larger part of the museum is devoted to the GWTW movie. It nicely describes the characters in the novel, the actors and actresses who played them, how the movie was filmed, the story line, backstories and the history of the period and how GWTW fits within it. There are also numerous artifacts from the movie and the area. The entrance fee was modest - $6/person (senior rate). If you like the movie "Gone With the Wind", you'll enjoy the museum.
