I'm very happy to have been lifting with Miki for almost a year at the Powerform gym in Oakland. I'm in reasonably good shape for someone in his 50's but I had never really lifted and was intimated to get started. Miki is awesome. She's fun and she knows her stuff. You will definitely get stronger if you work with her. She explains things clearly and she corrects well too so you can really understand what you are being asked to do. She's great at building and working incrementally so even thought it's hard work it's not outside of your grasp. Also, she listens so if you've had a hard day or not enough sleep she takes that into consideration with her plan. She will PUSH you. No joke! but when an exercise is getting really tough you will hear her yell 'GET IT' and it gives you that extra boost to keep trying. She also celebrates your progress. I was introduced to Miki at Powerform in Oakland and she is now my regular coach there. I am in my early 50s and while in good shape haven't lifted much in decades (scary to see that in print) and have a few lingering injuries. Miki listened carefully and made two adjustments: she approached specific lifts which could injure me further with care and patience, and she had me do exercises that would help strengthen around those areas to aid in recovery.
