What a great little find. Joining up with Glamper Girls my first foray into camping was The Famous Maidenwell Pig on Spit, held on last Saturday of the month. They came from far and wide. Met one lovely couple who routinely bring their little van up from the Gold Coast to do it every month and I can see why! Yes, the food was great - heaping portions of pork, beef, baked veg, gravy, sauce, with bread rolls and butter if you have the room. I'm sorry I can't upload the photos, but on my samsung phone and I'm writing this on my iPad! But you can't photograph the most important part, the true dinky di Country Hospitality - locals introducing themselves, asking us to join them, 20 year old boys asking us to dance "can you do the 2 step"? He asked - I can and I did. No pissed out grotty violence here, everyone enjoying the live music and having a great chat to the publican "spud" and his family. 30 years in brisbane and I've never had such a great time, seriously!!!, talk about a bar where everybody knows your name. It's a 2 hour drive along the beautiful brisbane valley with the blissful bunyas only another 28ks down the road - google it and GO, I promise you, you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face. read more
