I called and asked if they took Delta Dental, Ally told me yes. I made my appointment to get a new upper denture. After my exam, and measurements I was told it's 3,000.00, she said I had to pay them, they'll bill the insurance company and I should receive a check from the insurance company. I received 700.00 from the insurance company. Come to find out, Maidu Dental wasn't a preferred provider. That was my bad for not researching it on my own. I went in several times for measurements and my denture finally arrive. Well it did't fit so I went back because I was told, if it's loose "we can adjust it". A week later, I get it back, still loose, but not as loose so I am told to try to adjust and if anything feels wrong just come back, they'll fix it. Literally 2 hours later I get a call from the office asking if I'd been told about the charges for going in to get a proper fit or adjustment. It is not free. Really? They did the fitting, I paid 3,000.00 and have to pay extra for it to fit properly? It's bad business practice! read more

To start I was promised a $20 Jamba Juice gift card to write this review after my first visit here. Then reminded my following 4 visits about it. But I could only receive it after showing proof of a 5 star review. That should of been my first red flag but I was blinded by smiles and a clean office. Definitely does make me wonder about the integrity of any other 5 star reviews written on here. Well I can promise from the phone call I just had, this will no longer be my dental office. Welcome to Maidu dental where they falsely advertise on their website they "Practice Relationship Dentistry" Meaning they will take the less abrasive dental approach in how they treat anxious clients right? Being in sales myself I should have seen what was coming clear as day. My fiancé and I scheduled appointments here because she gets bad anxiety during any dental procedures. From both of our first initial appointments they immediately were telling both of us we must get Invisalign to fix our smiles and teeth placement. They wanted us to come back for the full teeth scan to see really how the product works. I agreed unfortunately and went back the next week for the scan. This was a completely different appointment then I expected. Entire time I was sitting in a normal dentist chair. Only after being shown the scan with minimal change from Invisalign I said I appreciate it but I do wanna look into it more. I was told okay no problem come wait in this office while we get you a print out of the cost. I was then sat into an office that is identical to a finance office from a car dealership. If you have seen one you know what I mean and what they are for. Then a different woman came in and only continued to ask me why I was not agreeing to deposit and order the Invisalign today. I explained I'm young I never considered this before and I want to talk to some others first. She then used notes from the dentist to say well with your grinding if you wait any longer then you're gonna have damage that will make this only cost more. When I still declined I was just pressed more. She said do you realize a crown will cost almost this amount to fix just one tooth your going to damage and yeah see your insurance wouldn't cover near as much for that. You have multiple you will do this too. She then played the well what if we lower the cost today for you if you place this deposit now if it's cost that's bothering you. I said well if I call tomorrow why couldn't I have that lower price you just offered now $500 lower. She stated it was a program special for today only and it would not be honored tomorrow. She told me I'm so lucky my insurance is covering half of the total cost of $7,000! So I foolishly agreed to take on payments for the remaining amount as it seemed to be my only way out of the office that day. Fast forward 8 months into this program with them. I don't even want to get into how untrained they are about their own product they are force feeding people. Just one example I was told a couple attachments and a hook will do the job. I now have 18 attachments and 2 hooks for rubber bands. The second hook won't even stay installed now multiple times by them and every time I'm having to go back for appointments 2/3 weeks later after it falls out. Due to work my dental insurance has changed. Something we informed Maidu about before, during and after the switch. Now today they call saying I'm responsible for the leftover balance for the Invisalign portion that the new insurance company won't cover because the process started 8 months ago. The original company didn't pay even half like Maidu said they were going to. Never once did Maidu dental even explain that the charges for Invisalign are monthly to my insurance provider. I would not have changed insurance till this was over had I known it was not all paid for already. I was given a total cost, a monthly payment for my portion and that insurance covered the rest and sent on my way. Talking to them today they don't care, it's my fault I didn't read their contract fully and so I pay the full amount or it's off to collections. This is also the same place that rescheduled us the day before our appointment that was booked months prior. Rescheduled us to a few days after, well when we let them know the day before that new appt that we could no longer make it now we have a missed appointment fee when they are the ones that originally rescheduled us? I have already spent more of my time than they are worth by writing this out but hopefully if you read this far you know for the safety of your wallet just take your family elsewhere. read more

I agree with Kelly, this was a great dentist for my family for the past 5-6 years until they started their new insurance policy; I also have Delta Dental and paid my portion at the time of service. I am not in the business of billing my insurance company for payment- that's why I pay insurance and the dental office. Finding a new dentist that has service. read more

The whole staff is very nice!(: I had a cleaning and some old fillings redone. Cant even tell they're there! The lady who helped me made sure everything felt right when she was done and made adjustments as needed. First I want to say that Dr. Markham is a great dentist - but her prices are VERY HIGH ! The issue for me was lack of billing transparency , especially around insurance. I had specifically requested information about my out of pocket costs - I was given an "estimated costs for treatment". Several things happened despite my best efforts to tell them my needs. For the record, I am a retired Senior on a fixed income. I had Cigna dental insurance. I was not informed that this office was "out of network", so the quote they gave me and what my out of pocket expenses were ended up being VERY DIFFERENT. It seems like they should have known up front what Cigna would and wouldn't pay for. I ended up having out of pocket expenses for two Crown replacements, an exam with images and a cleaning totaling over $4,000 !! The crowns alone came to almost $1,900 each - plus multiple charges for images - this is AFTER what the insurance paid and different from their "estimate" by $1,000. It also turns out this dentist is a "Delta Dental Premier". According to AARP, this designation allows the dentist to charge a much higher rate (even if you have Delta Dental insurance) and any difference is balance billed to the patient. Very expensive lesson on how dental "insurance" is pretty much a joke. Bottom line - great dentist - but be prepared to pay TOP DOLLAR ! read more

On the expensive side for sure, but worth it in my opinion. I had my first patient exam and 8 cavities filled. It was $2,200 yikes! But they did a great job and I trust them more than my previous dentist, who won't fill a cavity until it hits the nerve. I also have terrible dentist anxiety, but it's true what the other reviews say. This dentist and her hygienists really have a way with their patients. My daughter had an appointment for a check up and cleaning and they plan and schedule out $5000 of work that she needs to have done without consulting her parents first. I have to explain to them that I'm on a fixed income and can't just schedule this work without my knowing. Always pushing to schedule as much work as they can on my other child as well. I was in to have some work done and I scheduled an appointment 2 months ago per the doctors advice to have a cavity fixed and a second cleaning that would use the rest of my available benefits. I take off work to make the appointment and they only have me down for a cleaning,, Like I really needed another one within two months. Thanks for wasting my time and money, not that you guys care anyway,, it's always a damn issue with this place. I will find a new dentist office. read more

I really liked this dentist for the last couple of years and gave 5 star reviews before. They are more expensive than other dentists and they do try to sell you a lot of other stuff that might not be essential, but I was willing to pay more for a clean office, nice and friendly staff and safe and good quality dental care. Unfortunately they have decided to suddenly change their practice and force their patients to pay for all services up front and in full, and make the patients deal with then trying to get reimbursed from their insurance carrier. This is the case for me and I have Delta Dental insurance. This is not why I have dental insurance. In 40 years of having Delta dental, no dentist has ever made me pay in full upfront and then get reimbursed by my insurance. I am used to paying my portion up front though and that has never been a problem. They did not really give a good explanation for this change , nor are they willing to reconsider this policy so they will now lose my business. I feel that this will be a bitter pill for many of their patients to swallow and many will not have that kind of cash to just fork over especially if it's an emergency or a costly extraction, crown, root canal...even just a basic exam, x-rays and cleaning can set you back. This dentist gave me a partial onlay when it was clear I needed a full crown. A couple years after I received this procedure, it fell off. A little annoyed, but understanding that chewy candy isn't the best choice... I had it repaired. Just this year it started to feel somewhat loose and unusual. I traveled all the way back home to Auburn from Los Angeles JUST to see her! When I went in to explain to what was wrong she strongly assured me that it was 'not going anywhere' and proceeded to charge me $300 to tell me so. 2 weeks after her reassurance, the onlay fell off. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME. I now have to shop around for new dentists, get multiple quotes and exams, and now have to undergo another painful procedure to correct her mistakes. I'm extremely frustrated because Dr. Markham has been our family dentist for years and I feel nothing but betrayal. read more

I found Maidu Dental 2 years ago after searching online for the "best dentist near Auburn, CA". Boy, did Google get it right! I have always been treated with the highest quality of care while coming here. Dr. Markham and her staff go above and beyond in regard to customer service and quality of treatment. I have had three onlays (custom-milled in house!), two fillings and several exams and cleanings with Dr. Markham and her wonderful hygenists. I had hopes when I came to this dentist , we moved to the area 2 years ago , this review is very genuine and I wish I didn't have to write it.. I had come here for cleaning after many unnecessary xrays they charged me about $260 out of pocket for cleaning without letting me know ahead of time that my insurance wasn't going to cover alot. We had just changed insurance few months prior so we didn't know, it was our first time being at the dentist since the change . They failed to communicate that. The whole thing costed about $340 my.incuramce covered about $80 anyways that's not even the worse part! They also told me I needed 9 crowns and 3 filling , anyone who I was telling this to was shocked , couldn't belive it. So we decided to go to the bay area to my old dentist for second opinion. My dentist said my teeth need some work but they are stable , there has been no change since 2012 and she doesn't think any of the stuff this dentist recommending is necessarily, she was also very surprised I paid so much for a cleaning. Their office only charge under $200 for both cleaning and exam. After this experience I canceled my husband appointment with them, we both decided to travel twice a year to bay area for cleaning just to see our old dentist. Please be aware that this office only wants your money. I will also add this review on Google. read more

I went in as a new patient and was absolutely floored by the customer service here. I was treated as though I was a long time patient and everything was explained to me in great detail. The dental assistant, Tre, took his time in explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it (all while having a smile on his face). Dr. Markham was phenomenal and I have never felt so comfortable with a dentist before her. If you are considering finding a new family dentist, I highly recommend this practice. The office is actually extremely modern, they offer drinks and they even have a charging station for cell phones while you are waiting. 5 stars across the board and I have found a new forever home for my dental needs! I LOVE this dental office! They have amazing customer service and they treat me and my children and husband like family. My oldest daughter and I went in for our initial visit and upon my request- they took us to separate rooms. I thought that my daughter would do better without me with her. All of a sudden I turn around and I see Dr Markham holding my daughters hand and walking around the office with her while she waiting for my to be finished... just to keep her busy and entertained while I got the best care possible. They have helped me with everything from TMJ, cavities, even allergies with a genuine delivery of care for my comfort, well being, knowledge and health. Dr. Markham is very passionate about her work and if she is trying to sell you something, it's because she truly believes it's going to help you. That is her job. Um no looks can be deceiving had severe tooth pain and needed an extraction desperate to get it fixed asap!! I went here and talked to the owner or main dentist lady about options and was quoted 150 for an x ray and up to 600 cash for a tooth extraction. These private practices that don't take insurance are price gougers with no empathy she didn't even care and said ''but were the best'' Whatever I respect that she runs a business to her standards and probably is great at what she does, but what about human compassion? She said sorry we don't do payment plans I mean I was in death pain!! She could have offered a free x ray and say 120 for the work and got my bank info to reimburse her next day easy for the x ray I just needed help like before 5 pm I woulda paid 200.00 if need be!! She coulda provided it to someone but only cares about money I was being honest and just because you have a status quo on how you run your business and make who knows how much doesn't mean occasionally you cant have compassion. Private Dentist are greedy from my experience and this place is no different. I needed help imagine a doctor with burn ointment not helping a burn victim in severe pain crying for help cause they don't take medical and will give it to them for say 1,000 dollars no different!! what a joke an extraction is like routine now i'm just stuck in pain for days.. After over a year the braces came off and the teeth are not even straight. The so called retainer that came after is a thin plastic tray. I don't expect it to last long and is.over 300 to replace, and of course will be needed they say forever. Feels like a racket. I was told after the braces were off to then wear the retainer for months, 24/7, so then why takes the braces off? My son's teeth are completely unimpressive. Waste.of money and time. read more

Dr Markham tried to sell me orthodontics, teeth whitening, mouth guards, . Tried to charge me double for two fillings, turns out two other dentists say those cavities are non existent.
