Great breakfast this morning at Main St Bistro after church. This was our second time here. Same friendly service in a very comfortable setting. They had a lot of daily specials to choose from. We both ordered from the brunch menu. I ordered The Alamo. A breakfast bowl Cheesy Hash browns, Bacon, Sausage and Ham covered with Gravy and Three Over Easy Eggs. My wife ordered the Le Bistro. It's really hard for me to write this review & I'm teetering between 2 & 3 stars, BUT kindness goes a long way with me so I'm giving 3. I've been wanting to try Main St. Bistro, so when my sister suggested it for Easter, I was down. We had a party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids). We got there around 1:00 on Easter Sunday & didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. A man took our drink order. My brother-in-law asked to go ahead & order two appetizers. Our waitress, Natalie, came shortly after, introduced herself & confirmed the appetizers. We were brought 4 small cubes of banana bread, which felt weird since there were 7 of us. My toddler & my niece both had a whole one. The other two were split between 4 adults. My brother-in-law didn't have any. The appetizers came out fairly quickly & were gone just as fast. We finally ordered right at 2:00 after a little wait & indecisiveness. Then my son was done sitting in a highchair. My husband and brother-in-law took the kids outside. They played for a bit & walked two laps around the whole strip center. They came back, still no food. My son had a complete meltdown since he was both hungry & now tired, my brother-in-law asked if there was any way they could just rush my son's food. They did and he started eating, everyone was so hungry that they had some bites of his food as well. My mom went to ask the manager if our food was close to being ready. The answer was no, there was a whole list of orders ahead of ours. The manager was kind enough to bring us some spinach dip & apologized for the wait, explaining she was dreading today because the kitchen wasn't equipped for the Easter crowd. She assured us that they were working as fast as possible & we appreciated her honesty & effort. My mom went to her car & asked us to let her know when her food came. Our food finally started arriving at 3:17, and not all at once. My sister's meal came last. By this time my son was done & was getting restless while we had JUST started eating. The food itself was disappointing. My sister and I both ordered Benedicts. Mine (Boudin Benny) wasn't hot and was mushy instead of seared. Both of our poached eggs were undercooked. My sister's also had a large amount of cream cheese that wasn't listed and didn't taste good. Other issues: my mom's fries were cold, my brother-in-law said his chicken fried steak was no good. He ate it because he was hungry, and while my husband liked his sandwich & was happy with it, his fries were cold. My niece enjoyed her burger. My son's shrimp, fries, & macaroni were all hot and good... likely because they were rushed for him. It was 3:45 by the time we left. They close at 3. We received a 40% discount, but there was also a 20% automatic gratuity added, which some in our party didn't expect. Here's where they earn stars back... Natalie was great! She took great care of us & kept apologizing for the delay. We could tell that she felt bad, but it was not her fault. The manager also came by checking on us multiple times & got us settled as best she could. She brought us spinach dip while we waited & she made sure that my toddler got food very quickly after being asked about it. She did thank us multiple times for our kindness & patience. As did Natalie. I too, was appreciative of the kindness they showed us. Most of us have all worked in food service before & we understand that the wait staff can only do so much. We also understand being slammed in the kitchen & how fast paced they have to work in order to handle rushes. I appreciate the 40% discount... 20% after the tip. This review was based on one trip & I will update my review if/when I return. But this visit was definitely not a great experience & if it weren't for the kindness, I'd be leaving one star. read more

Unfortunately the appetizers and drinks were great, but after 2 hours and no main course, and then being told there were still tickets ahead of us, we closed out without having dinner. With appetizers and drinks over $250 we expected much better communication and could have been informed after the 1st hour . This wasn't my first time to visit but I just can't find the amazement of this establishment. The decor is cute, and the restaurant is much bigger than it appears from the outside. However, our server (her named stated with an N) wasn't very attentive. She forgot our drinks and kept forgetting to bring things when we asked for them. We had to ask for hot sauce twice and lemons three times. Normally if it was busy I wouldn't fret about it but it wasn't very busy as it was after the lunch rush time. The food was okay, not worth the price you pay in my opinion. So, I'll move on to another local place next time. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant in the area. The past three times I have gone, I have had to send something back two of those times and they corrected the issue. The third time I went, I ordered The Bohemian sandwich. It used to be a nice portobello mushroom and many nice slices of yellow squash and zucchini. They changed it from portobello to just plain grilled mushrooms. I knew that when I ordered it and assumed all the other ingredients would be the same. Nope, came out with some chopped zucchini and chopped yellow squash - no slices, no thicker sandwich. lAfter $17 for some bread, and just a scoop of ingredients, I left hungry. Not sure what I can say about what I consider to be one of the finest dining establishments in League City. Since the new owners acquired Main Street bistro, they have focused on preserving the friendly neighborhood family ambience, and simultaneously expanded the venue to include a full bar with some very fine liquors. They preserve the service which is always very hospitable very friendly changed or added to the menu their own flare, which is always quite good And just generally improve this restaurant to the point that even though I live in Richmond, Texas, I'm going to make it a point within the next month to take a trip down to league city so that I can enjoy this this restaurant. Don't miss it seriously make it a point to visit at least once or if you're like me, let it become a wonderful addiction.. read more

I'm sad to write this review. My family and I love to come here. We live just a couple blocks away and like to walk here for the convenience and good food. Unfortunately, the past 3 times I have visited in the last month I have been extremely disappointed in the service. The last two times it has taken 10 minutes to get a menu and place our drink order. Each time the food has taken an hour to arrive, even though there were only 5-6 other tables seated in the restaurant. The food is good, but for the price there are other places in town you can visit and have a nice meal with better service and shorter wait times. read more

The best thing about this visit is the cloth napkins did not smell like skunk like the last visit. Not only was it unpleasant but it was hardly impressive for the friend I brought there for the first time for her birthday. So go Main Bistro for nice smelling napkins! Seemed like the silverware was a little heavier duty than the flimsy stuff given to us last time so score! Brought another friend here for the first time for lunch. He had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy with sautéed squash. He ate every bit of it and said he could not wait to come back. Now this is the type of experience you want! I had the black and blue burger with truffle fries. My plate was brought without the truffle oil. By the time that was fixed, my burger and fries were room temperature. Not hot like food should be brought to the table. Sat at the bar so we didn't have to sit in the dungeon. . Our sweet waitress tried to casually warn my husband away from the special--chicken and waffle--but he took his chance. The waffle was inedible, tough and gummy. When we complained the waitress said that's been happening since they got a new waffle iron. Seems like a management issue, if enough people have complained that the waitstaff has to divert people from a major menu item. First time at this place. My hamburger was very good. The food was good...we got the fried green tomatoes with the crab meat. A crepe, the meatloaf and the chicken salad sandwhch. All the food was good, no complaints. But the service was so slow. A good 5 minutes before our drink order. About 35 minutes before the appetizer arrived. The chicken salad Sandwhich came out after the entrees and didn't have the accompanying fries. The most frustrating part was one lady in a staff shirt talked to one couple for about 10 minutes. Carried another patrons baby and then sat and talked to another guy for about 10 more minutes. I hope she was the owner as our server seemed to be the only one actually working. Another staff shirted employee talked to the couple with the and carried the baby around for awhile. Excellent food, fine presentation with a casual atmosphere great for kids. I chose the Nappa Valley burger. It was cooked medium and had complex flavors that worked well together. We also ordered the shrimp and grits which is a hit everytime. Lastly the kids grilled shrimp plate did not disappoint. We had dinner on Tuesday night and kids eat free which is a great bonus! As many times as I have been to the new location, I am surprised I have never updated my review. While I have not eaten dinner at the new location, I do come here frequently for lunch. The new location is a cute, rustic little spot. While it has ample parking, depending on the time of day, it can still be a challenge to find a spot. My absolute favorite dish here is the chicken salad ... salad. Stuffed into a tomato and served on a bed of lettuce, this chicken salad is literally the perfect portion for me. Ok. So this is a mixed review for me. The food was fantastic and our server was great. So why the 3-stars? It took almost an hour for us to get 2 hamburgers and a Rueben. Our server was nice enough to let us know the kitchen was backed up during our wait. However, the kitchen being backed up during lunchtime?!? I would think the manager would have the scheduling down during high service times. Ok, so someone called out... fill the hole with how you have. Don't make customers wait extended periods of time when they may only have an hour. It looked like one poor lady came in, ordered the mile high meatloaf and had to box it up because of the long wait. Ok now for the review: the Bistro burger was well done. The sweet bun paired perfectly with the savory patty and fixings. One of the best burgers, I've had in a long time. The Mafia Rubén was amazing too. The tangy sauerkraut and mustard made the corned beef delicious. The rye bread complimented the sandwich very well. The atmosphere was great until the unruly kid showed up, screamed, threw his toy car across the room and began hitting his male parent. Unfortunately, my filter was off and I'm sure they heard my less than gleaming comment of their parenting skills, and how I would have handled that situation when my children were that age. The food is great, and the people are lovely. Hubby and I were in town for a long weekend and came here for brunch. He had a simple bacon and egg breakfast with rye toast (a man of simple taste), and really enjoyed it. But what this review is really about is the incredible egg sandwich that I got! It was a little like a BLT with eggs and cheese - and now I can't imagine having a BLT any other way! It was messy (that's an understatement) but so worth the mess. So, I love this place. It started with their amazing brunch. I haven't eaten breakfast in probably a week and was really craving it. I saw crepes on their online menu. Thought I would order a little mixture. Word to the wise: their weekly breakfast is not like the brunch menu. I wound up getting a basic breakfast with biscuits and gravy. I was a little disappointed that it was just gravy...no sausage gravy. The hash browns were rubbery. I LOVE hashbrowns and make them from scratch at home. I could name a couple of places that were much more impressive with the hashbrowns. Overall, I learned to skip their weekly breakfast. We also ordered the strawberry crepes and the Santiago eggs Benedict, but did not get to eat it. We waited 40+ minutes before ultimately deciding to pay for just our two coffees. We regularly go to this restaurant. The food has always been good as well as the service. Tonight normal menu items were unavailable unless you bought the Valentines 4 course special. Also, a pet peeve of mine is when dishes are served one at a time and plates are cleared when someone is still eating. Both of these happened tonight. This place is a must!!! Everything was so delicious. My bf really enjoyed the seasonal salad. He said the dressing was perfection and pulled it all together nicely. But our favorite part of this dinner was the pecan cheesecake. I'm 8 months pregnant and this dessert brought tears to my eyes. You HAVE to get this on your next stop. The other great part of our dinner was our waitress, Melissa! She was so amazing and attentive. So friendly and laughed and giggled with us. Moreover, a couple of people were able to get drink refills, but several of us, couldn't even get a refill of a $3 Diet Coke! Service was great. Our waitress was awesome. My friends ordered the filet mignon. They enjoyed their steak. One friend jokingly said he was going to give them a bad review because they didn't have A1 steak sauce, but he knows better. He joked with her that she earned every cent of her 3% tip. She knew he was having a fun with her. He tips very well. My scallops were great and the thick asparagus spears were done to perfection. The risotto was extremely salty. I think the melted cheese adds more salt to the sodium already in the recipe. As I get older, salt in a meal makes a big difference.
