Came in with high expectations, left with a headache and 2 hours i want back. While the food and atmosphere was great, the service was abysmal and non-existent. Waited 2 hours for my food and no one came to refill my tea, despite repeated attempts at asking.....y'all need to do better.

I'm sad to write this review. My family and I love to come here. We live just a couple blocks away and like to walk here for the convenience and good food. Unfortunately, the past 3 times I have visited in the last month I have been extremely disappointed in the service. The last two times it has taken 10 minutes to get a menu and place our drink order. Each time the food has taken an hour to arrive, even though there were only 5-6 other tables seated in the restaurant. The food is good, but for the price there are other places in town you can visit and have a nice meal with better service and shorter wait times.

Not sure what I can say about what I consider to be one of the finest dining establishments in League City. Since the new owners acquired Main Street bistro, they have focused on preserving the friendly neighborhood family ambience, and simultaneously expanded the venue to include a full bar with some very fine liquors. They preserve the service which is always very hospitable very friendly changed or added to the menu their own flare, which is always quite good And just generally improve this restaurant to the point that even though I live in Richmond, Texas, I'm going to make it a point within the next month to take a trip down to league city so that I can enjoy this this restaurant. Don't miss it seriously make it a point to visit at least once or if you're like me, let it become a wonderful addiction..

The best thing about this visit is the cloth napkins did not smell like skunk like the last visit. Not only was it unpleasant but it was hardly impressive for the friend I brought there for the first time for her birthday. So go Main Bistro for nice smelling napkins! Seemed like the silverware was a little heavier duty than the flimsy stuff given to us last time so score! Brought another friend here for the first time for lunch. He had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy with sautéed squash. He ate every bit of it and said he could not wait to come back. Now this is the type of experience you want! I had the black and blue burger with truffle fries. My plate was brought without the truffle oil. By the time that was fixed, my burger and fries were room temperature. Not hot like food should be brought to the table. Sat at the bar so we didn't have to sit in the dungeon. . Disappointed they no longer carried Western Sons Cucumber vodka but hey, water worked just fine!

Bacon wrapped shrimp - delicious! Special of the night- champagne chicken! It was so good! It came with jalapeño risotto, which my husband loved. Also he asked to substitute green beans for the mixed veggies! He was a happy camper! It was well staffed!

    Kids grilled shrimp with fries

Excellent food, fine presentation with a casual atmosphere great for kids. I chose the Nappa Valley burger. It was cooked medium and had complex flavors that worked well together. We also ordered the shrimp and grits which is a hit everytime. Lastly the kids grilled shrimp plate did not disappoint. We had dinner on Tuesday night and kids eat free which is a great bonus! Highly recommend this restaurant. Small town feel and quality food.

As many times as I have been to the new location, I am surprised I have never updated my review. While I have not eaten dinner at the new location, I do come here frequently for lunch. The new location is a cute, rustic little spot. While it has ample parking, depending on the time of day, it can still be a challenge to find a spot. My absolute favorite dish here is the chicken salad ... salad. Stuffed into a tomato and served on a bed of lettuce, this chicken salad is literally the perfect portion for me. Service is always friendly and the food always comes out relatively fast. It's a great spot for lunch with friends or with colleagues.

Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and zucchini

I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini. The chicken and zucchini were great, but the mashed potatoes tasted strange. The meal was okay, but the servers were so sweet and did a great job. I did like the location in an ole-time-looking storefront. It was cute.

The food is great, and the people are lovely. Hubby and I were in town for a long weekend and came here for brunch. He had a simple bacon and egg breakfast with rye toast (a man of simple taste), and really enjoyed it. But what this review is really about is the incredible egg sandwich that I got! It was a little like a BLT with eggs and cheese - and now I can't imagine having a BLT any other way! It was messy (that's an understatement) but so worth the mess. Glad we've been married nearly 20 years, because this is not a "first impression" type of meal for a lady. We also tried a few of their different flavored mimosas, which were delicious!

Get the brisket quesadillas. Tried my son's quesadilla and holy moly so good, the brisket alone was stellar with the poblano and other fillings just perfect. My husband and I got the Coco shrimp tacos, also good. Another person in our group got a burger it looks amazing! Loved the 1/2 fries 1/2 onion ring combo , great option. The hot honey margarita was meh, tasted like a regular margarita no spice or hint of honey, looked pretty though.

This place is a must!!! Everything was so delicious. My bf really enjoyed the seasonal salad. He said the dressing was perfection and pulled it all together nicely. But our favorite part of this dinner was the pecan cheesecake. I'm 8 months pregnant and this dessert brought tears to my eyes. You HAVE to get this on your next stop. The other great part of our dinner was our waitress, Melissa! She was so amazing and attentive. So friendly and laughed and giggled with us. I was really happy we had her and we'll be back to see her and get a slice of cheesecake ;) the atmosphere was so nice and intimate. We were sharing a nice meal before the arrival of our son. We couldn't have chose a better place.

During our extended patronage, we have watched as the management team has performed well, and some teams haven't. But tonight I watched a young manager (Ridge Mercer...not sure of last name spelling), treat the place like he owned it. He was constantly on the move, and interacting with customers. I employ several hundred young men I another industry, but I've always had eye for talent. And Ridge is a keeper. Destiny our waitress was also very good. It appears the overall local management has had an upgrade.

My family and I ate at Cracker Barrel, 231 Gulf Fwy S, League City, TX 77573 for breakfast…read more While our server was kind and attentive despite the restaurant being extremely busy, the management response to a serious food-safety issue was alarming and unacceptable. I ordered my eggs over easy. They were extremely undercooked and still translucent, but I chose not to complain since that can happen with over-easy eggs. After roughly 45 minutes, my sausage and ham finally arrived. The moment I took a bite of the ham, I immediately noticed the unmistakable smell of rotten meat and stopped eating it. My father confirmed the smell himself. This ham was spoiled before it was cooked and was still served to customers. When we informed the general manager, Jim, he came to our table and stated, "That is the way the ham is supposed to smell." There was no apology, no concern for customer safety, and no attempt to remove the item from service. Instead, he chose to defend it and continue serving it to other guests. This is not a matter of opinion--it is negligence. Serving spoiled meat poses a serious health risk and can cause severe illness or worse, particularly for elderly or vulnerable individuals who may not immediately recognize the smell. Out of genuine concern for public safety, my father warned nearby diners who had ham on their plates. Customers should never be placed in a position where they feel obligated to protect others from unsafe food. At checkout, I again raised the issue with management. Rather than addressing the health concern, the manager defended the GM while employees behind the counter loudly whispered that I was "just looking for free food." That accusation is false and inappropriate. We spent nearly $200 on food and retail items. I only refused to pay for the $6 ham that was clearly rotten. My goal was not a refund--it was acknowledgment of a dangerous issue and an immediate stop to serving unsafe food. Management made a conscious decision to prioritize being "right" and protecting profit over basic human safety. That is deeply disturbing. I have owned and operated restaurants, and this behavior violates fundamental food-safety standards. I have filed a report with the health department and will be following up. This situation could have been resolved immediately with accountability and removal of the product from service. Instead, management chose denial and continued risk to customers. That is not just poor service--it is dangerous.

However, my last experience with this establishment left a horrible taste in my mouth. Therefore, I am giving them an extra star for the previous experiences. On May 17th, 2026, my best friend and I had been looking forward to coming to Water Oak all day and had our taste buds set for the occasion. We were famished and had quite a day up until arriving. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very briefly greeted by the a Hispanic man who I assume is the manager and told that they were "no longer seating for the day". I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.

The stars finally aligned and I was able to meet them here recently. My mom wanted to order some dolomades to start off, and I'm not really a big fan, so I just figured those would be all her. But she offered to let me try one, and I can easily say that these were the best dolomades I've ever had. She agreed. I have no idea what they do to make these not taste so "sharp" like they usually do, but these were really unbelievable. For my appetizer, and I went with a beef/lamb gyro and it was everything you want in a gyro. Soft pita bread, non-gamey meat and everything in between. The greek salad that came with it was pretty underwhelming, but I ordered a side of greek fries too, and those were what I was hoping they'd be. We finished off by ordering a few desserts to share. I went with the strawberry cheesecake as the one I was mostly focused on, and loved it. This is definitely not a frozen cheesecake - they make them in-house and it's obvious when you take your first bite. I understand why Athena's Corner has such great reviews and hope to be back!
