Main Street Honey Shopped was opened in last June and retail of Honeybee Centre. I bought the manuka honey which imported from Australia at Honeybee Centre at Surrey. Now, I don't have to make a trip to there. The staffs were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They explained and let us try different honey like blueberry flowers (with a rich brown sugar taste), the fireweed plant (buttery and sweet) and buckwheat (pungent and earthy) and etc. You may find other products in the shop such as beeswax candles and soaps, all-natural health products--like propolis, royal jelly, and pollen--straight from the hive, freshly baked scones slathered with creamed clover honey. A sweet shop creating a lot of buzz on Main Street. This store sells all manner of bee products. They specialize in honey, of course. Their honey comes in different flavors. I was told that the flavors are due to the type of flowers the bees visit. Thus, the honeys have different colors and distinct tastes. The honey can be purchased in different sized jars. They even sell honey in small, plastic tubes for individual servings. Products from beeswax such as candles are also on offer. They also had traps for catching wasps and hornets, which was unexpected. But, I guess bees are friends, but wasps are enemies. They sell honeycombs too, which are honey-filled wax chambers that are edible. I occasionally purchase these somewhat pricey treats just to try something different. The staff are super friendly, and more than happy to educate customers on the intricacies of honey. They will also let you sample the honeys with short sticks of dry spaghetti. I like that you know where the honey comes from, and that it is organic. That is something that you can't always be sure of when you buy honey from large, chain grocery stores. read more

Honey is distinguished in flavour by the flowering plants the bees were exposed to. Clover honey, wild berry honey, orange blossom, manuka. They have some really unusual honey in the shop from New Zealand & Australia, as well as locally sourced. They also stock honey derived personal care products. Amazing soaps and lotions. So stop in and educate your honey palate. Pick up a little something as a gift. They have wrapped assortments of honey. Also stocked are some gourmet coffees and confections. Love love this store!!! I needed some Manuka Honey and grabbed a bar of Manuka soap as well. It has antimicrobial properties that make it great for treating sensitive areas.She suggested not taking anymore than a teaspoon at a time internally. Really, really wanted some of the Cinnamon infused Honey I picked up at the German Market, but it is HIGHLY addictive. The honey is taken from their Honey Center in Surrey. The super friendly lady that helped us even mentioned they may bring a hive INTO THE STORE!!! (partitioned off of course) The store has a great website and appear to be incredibly well stocked in everything and anything honey. Another addition to Main St that further ingrains my love for the hood. It's a shop full of honey. How do you NOT enjoy this? Unless of course, you don't like honey... to which I attempt to raise a quizzical eyebrow and fail miserably (damn genetics). I'll echo Roanna in that, my first visit to this shop quickly turned into my very first educational honey tasting. They have anything and everything you could imagine tucked into this space. From honey grown across the pond or right around the corner, to holistic infused versions, bee pollen, mixed spreads and even the infamous (and notoriously hard to find) manuka honey. With soaps and tinctures at the back, even a few household cleaning products; beautiful cork topped glass bottles of their more exotic honeys on one wall that would make perfect giftables and iced tea & other fare... it's most definitely the most honey themed things i've seen in one spot. Ever. The service is wonderful. The woman who helped me out, explained the different variations and patiently answered my never ending questions. They allow you to taste while you're there and i'd highly suggest the blueberry blossom which is local. But my favourite take away? The tazmanian leatherwood honey from Australia. It was fairly priced and a much darker, almost smokey alternative to the regular jar of clover honey I always have kicking about. I'm quite excited to see them open shop and will fast become a regular. Bonus points - they have a stamp card available if you purchase their medium sized jars or higher. read more

I Love Honey, this Store is a colony from the store in surrey. Very educational if you get the staff talking about bees. A lot of the selection as the store in surrey. I recommend you get them talking and you will be astonished what a marvel honey is. The queen is the only Bee that can sting multiple times. read more

Cute shop with a delightful selection of honey and bee products. I was warmly welcomed at the store and invited to try a honey sampling. This was fun, and I was able to pick a honey to replace a giant jar of blackberry honey I had just run out of (they sadly don't carry blackberry, but the blueberry was a close second). There is a nice selection of other bee products and I discovered that they carry a large stash of Abeego wrappers, which is good to know. We bought two jars of honey, and were presented with a punch card which gets us our 10th jar free. The honey is a little pricey here compared to other local apiaries that sell honey in town. But the storefront location is nice and easy to get to, with helpful service and a broad selection of products. read more

Delicious honey almond cakes, a great variety of local and imported honey, and super nice and enthusiastic owner/staff. The cinnamon infused honey is TO DIE FOR. I like to have "a little" spread over some thinly sliced apples on toast. If you're not sure which flavours you'd like to try, I highly recommend buying a few honey sticks- I think it's so nice that they offer these. If you're bored of that Billy Bee stuff at the Superstore, give this place a try. And to top it all off you get to support a local business! :) read more

Popped in because I saw this tea brand I used to buy from Kikori on the weekend. They were baking this almond honey cake. I have lived on Main Street for over 25 years and buy over 80% of our groceries/household supplies etc. from local businesses here, and am a pretty loyal main street customer. A few months ago I started buying the Propolis tincture at the Honey Shoppe and I love it. Last week I went in to re-supply and the woman at the store that day asked my if I had tried to non-alcohol based tincture and said I would definitely like it better, so I bought it. I absolutely did NOT like it at all, compared to the one I was usually buying. I went in today to exchange it. A different woman basically started arguing with me about why I didn't like it and after a couple of rounds I just said I wanted to exchange it. She went to get the owner/manager. Again I went through the story and again felt like I had to defend why I didn't like it. He said, "Well, I'm not Walmart" and I won't exchange it. You can have a discount if you want to buy the kind you like. SERIOUSLY???? Listen, I GET that you are a small, independent business that is probably struggling to make it, but I am your CUSTOMER and you should stand behind the products you sell. What you don't realize that instead of taking a, what, ten or twenty dollar hit by exchanging my product, you have now lost me as a customer for life. It's a heck of a lot closer for us in North Van to visit, than visiting Cloverdale. I highly suggest their Tasmanian leatherwood honey and the acacia honey. Here we were put through a short intro to different preparations of honeys, a tasting session, and a helping of Honey Almond Cakes and Buckwheat Honey Cookies. Among these two I give full recommendations for the Honey Almond cakes. These are basically honey flavoured almond cakes where the honey soaks the cake head to toe (but not too much!) making for a sweet honey experience that tickles the tongue and makes you feel all happy and stuff inside afterwards. Some customers might even be inspired to make their own honey almond cakes afterwards. In any case, the honey almond cakes blow the cookies out of the water and you should check these out if you stop by the honey shoppe. read more

I've been to both, however, this is a review for the newly located Main street location that just opened last Saturday, as soon as that listing is up I will be moving this review there. My experience at both has been the same, however, it is nice to have a store that is literally a few blocks from my favorite record store. They got my attention on Car Free Day with their demo of bees. The whole store is filled with everything honey related. A bit too big for the space, therefore, I am hoping that they will be able to make things work given the real estate in the area. They were still setting up, however, clearly they have an organized game plan in mind. The lady at the til was super sweet and helpful. To finish our Main Street food crawl, we went to the Honey Shoppe for honey tasting and dessert. They're a specialty store that sells pure and local honey products ranging from honey spreads, nutritional supplements, body care products, beeswax candles, and so on. The honey tasting was pretty cool. The shopkeeper had us taste 9 different honeys and she gave a brief introduction of each one. I didn't realize that different honeys could taste so unique! They have everything honey, própolis, bee's wax candlel!! Their honey is local and of great quality, which you can tell because it crystalizes within a few months (so we never stock up too much). You can also get the creamed one, but it's a bit pricier. They also have a stamp card, which is a fun thing and can save you a little bit if you become a regular. :) read more
