Every turn along the scenic drives revealed something new and breathtaking--towering mountains, rolling hills, endless grassy plains, crystal-clear lakes and streams, beautiful log cabins, and wildlife roaming freely in their natural habitat. We drove arms reach from bison, and deer. We got out of our car to pet and feed burros, and marveled over other animals right alongside the roadway. The prairie dogs were adorable and funny too. It was an incredible reminder of how special this park truly is. Especially considering I love animals, history, and the artistry of nature. One of the highlights was driving through the famous narrow rock tunnels. The engineering is amazing, and the views framed through the tunnels are simply unforgettable. We also stopped at several cliffside overlooks where the panoramic views stretched as far as the eye could see. Standing there, looking out over the landscape, gave us a true appreciation for the beauty and scale of the Black Hills. Whether you're looking for incredible photography, scenic drives, wildlife viewing, or simply a peaceful escape into nature, Custer State Park delivers on every level. It's one of those places that makes you slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate God's incredible creation. If you're visiting South Dakota, Custer State Park isn't just worth seeing--it's an experience you'll remember for a lifetime. We can't wait to return.

This place should be a national park, in my opinion!…read more Going in to it with an open mind is important--wild animals are, in fact, wild and can't be predicted or controlled! That being said, you're almost guaranteed to see SOMETHING. We were lucky enough to get stuck in a bison jam, see the burros and a number of deer and prongtails. Get up early or take a drive around dusk if you miss the wildlife during the day. It's a beautiful, diverse park. Needles highway is a must do and is so cool to see the rock formations. Starting after the wildlife loop and driving to Sylvan Lake was amazing and the lake offered a great break from the car. We wish we would have planned for more time at the lake and come prepared with swimsuits, etc! Even if just visiting for a day, I think the $25 park entrance fee is worth it. But if you have the time, plan to take your time and spend more than one day here!

Everyone from the lady signing you in, to the tour of the facilities, to my actual class was a very good experience, considering that this city doesn't have much to offer in the way of aerial or pole, and I was just passing through. There have to be at least 12-15 beautiful silks. That is what you see past the counter on the right. A few hammocks, but the entire space is immaculate and myself being very covid aware was so happy to have them tell me they have an intense cleaning crew every day to keep myself and others safe.. Now let's get down to my pole class. The pole room is separated from the aerial area, and I like my privacy. Plus the pretty lights were just a nice touch at night. I really did not expect much from a tiny town but their warm ups were really thorough. I took a beginner 2 class and felt challenged, today my core feels so sore but I want to put on my heels and dance, dance, dance! I'm only in town here or there, so I really hope to snag a choreo class and a silks class while I am here for work, or at least when I come back.

The walking paths are well maintained, the signage is informative, and the views overlooking the city are absolutely beautiful. The dinosaur statues themselves, however, were a bit of a surprise. They have a very vintage roadside attraction feel--more like classic 1950s dinosaur sculptures than modern museum-quality exhibits. While that nostalgic charm may appeal to some visitors, they felt noticeably dated compared to the rest of the park. It almost seemed as though most of the investment went into the trails, landscaping, and visitor experience, while the dinosaur statues have remained largely unchanged over the years. Despite that, it's still a worthwhile stop for the scenic overlook and a bit of local history, especially if you're already in the Rapid City area.

Anyone who's…read moresemi- local or has driven on the ever busy Omaha street knows about M Hill- where the large white letters "sMd" were created to give wave to the School of Mines in Rapid. What many don't know as well or maybe simply forget or don't think about is that you can pretty easily climb to the top of M Hill and see out over all of Rapid- it's pretty incredible at any time of year! Where we parked there was a map showing the dozens of trails that zig zag these sets of hills, and though it seems a little outdated taking a picture of it and referencing it really helped us to know where we were going and not get lost, so I'd obviously recommend doing that. There are also little stakes in the ground at intervals that tell you what trail you are on or what one is about to start, so if you actually pay attention to those and keep an eye on the map you shouldn't get lost easily. There are kind of two main ways to get to the top of M Hill- and easy way and a hard way. We took the harder way up, which is much more scenic, and the easier way down. The easier way you walk right towards the golf course and make a turn before you hit the bridge across the creek. This is such a great way to get outdoors and exercise, without being too crazy exhausting! With stopping and resting and enjoying the view, it took us about an hour and ten round trip to the top and back. Highly recommend!

Love this dog park, it's one of the off-leash parks in Rapid City. The fully paved (black tar)…read morewalking course is a mile long, perfect distance to do a round with your pup. It's close to many area hotels and residential homes. This dog park is part of the Robbinsdale Park which also has a BMX area, baseball park, a children's playground further down in the 3rd parking lot and they're also building a bicycle park, not sure what that will consist of but it's off of the E Fairmont Blvd side of the park. This park is not fenced in so be sure you can recall your dog. The area closest to the main road on the south-east area is very close to the E Fairmont Blvd road; you can cut across the grassy area if you want to avoid the road area. The other area of the dog park is a good distance from a parking lot and residential homes - more than enough space for your dog to walk and play. There are 4 poop trash stations but not all have pick up bags so always bring your own. Beware there are a lot of people who let there dog drop and go and they don't pick up after their dog in the grassy area. I saw one car open the dog and let their dog out but they stayed in their car while the dog did it's business and then the dog wanted to play with other dogs and was whimpering following people - pretty sad, if you're gonna have a dog, walk your dog! Anyway, we'll be checking out the other parks, esp the off-leash parks - there's a lot of parks in this city.

He knows where to find the fish and gave us several techniques that we didn't previously know due to our amateur status of fishing. We caught four rainbow trout and a whole bunch of bluegill, but most importantly we had a great day with Eric. His boat is immaculate and he sent us home with beautifully cleaned filets!! Yum!
