The owner is very knowledgeable about his artists and their work and goes out of his way to see that you are fully satisfied with your purchase. In our case, he willingly offered to swap frames, even waiting for "the right one" to arrive a week later. We highly recommend this gallery.

After a walking tour of Camden, ME we came across this beautiful store, Wooden Alchemy. We had to…read morego inside. Once in, you realized that the artist/owner knew what they were doing with their intricate laser machinery and woodworking knowledge to make all kinds of wonderful objects including geographically accurate cribbage boards, coasters, magnets, wall hangings, and more. I wonder how many people know how to play cribbage? I remember playing with my grandfather when I was young. The artist goes through 1000 or so pieces of different widths plywood annually and has helpers to make everything just right. He also has a room of things created not for sale including drawings, and musical instruments (that work!) and other ephemera. Look at my photo of the mahogany tuba. Amazing. The store is situated inside originally what was a bank and the magnets are inside the old vault. I made a purchase of a trivet and some coasters. I felt the prices were quite reasonable. I spent about $50. The staffer was very friendly and accommodating. She also gave a short history of the shop and building (formerly a bank) itself. Recommended.

The second was a key ring with a metal tag kind of like a thick spoon handle with "Believe Science" stamped on it. I also found a leather bracelet for myself. My conception of what was happening at Nervous Nellie's came from the jellies and jams sold in local stores and from the view of the backs of the buildings in the middle of Hardscrabble Hill. Visiting Deer Isle with friends, we finally stopped yesterday for the very first time. I have to say, what Peter Beerits has (and is) created (creating) at Nervous Nellie's Jams and Jellies is nothing short of a wonder! Of course there's the food. The jellies, jams, preserves, and chutneys are simply delicious. There is a small cafe and store where you can sample, buy, and sit and enjoy the tasty treats created on site. But the jellies aren't what visiting Nervous Nellies is all about. It's the brilliance, creativity, and passion in the art of Peter Beerits that will really fill your heart and mind and go with you after you leave. There is a tiny world with buildings and sculptures that beckon you in and beg you to participate in the imaginative elements born of a tremendous artist at work. I LOVED seeing and experiencing it all, but particularly loved the old west inspired buildings. There are several key places to visit. Each building you visit is filled with interesting wood-cut inhabitants, antiques furniture, music, and so much more.
