A beautiful, welcoming space, and such lovely service; the chef came out and checked on us while we ate to make sure all was good. He didn't need to, it was great. We had the oyster mushrooms tacos, the bbq cauliflower, and the jerk tofu, Mac & cheese bowl. All things were beautifully presented, cooked & seasoned well, and were generous portions. I really enjoyed the sweet potatoes that came with my tacos, and their guacamole is delicious. Bonus for the big, curved wall of windows with which to watch the train. Oh and the bathroom was spotless, a good sign in a restaurant. Don't sleep on this place.

Majani has the best barbecue cauliflower out there! That's my go to snack. I tried the Jerk tofu from the bowl and it's legit! I think they might actually smoke their tofu, as true jerk items are smoked. Be warned, it's spicy; I love it, but it may be too much heat for others.

This is a place I always order delivery from. I decided to go in and eat there. it was pretty small in there. The owner was very nice. I got serviced right away. It seems like a great place with community in it. Customers was just talking to each other and had no idea who each other was and I love that the food was amazing as always it is pretty small in there, so I'm not sure if I will always go sit in there to eat just in case they're packed, but they weren't busy inside so I decided to sit in there since most orders, I noticed were pick ups great place on the southside. The energy and vibes were amazing as well.

Decided to order take out from this vegan establishment for lunch today. We ordered online as I've personally heard from many people that wait times in person are incredibly too long. We arrived and no one greeted us. There were three other individuals in the before we arrived. I stood in line waiting to pick up and the server was moving like molasses. When the lady in front of me finished placing her order, I waited a good 7-8 minutes before even being acknowledged. I told the lady I had a pick up order and she was super nice and provided the meal which thank God was already ready to go. The meal: My boyfriend and I got the gyro wrap, oyster mushroom burger and an order of the fried grits. The oyster burger need more condiments. It was a smidge dry to me and the mushroom wasn't packing much flavor to carry it through each bite. The largely cut sweet potatoes weren't cooked all the way through. They need to cut smaller or purchase a potato cutter cause that was not it. The gyro - the seitan wasn't properly prepared. Also there's no lettuce in any gyro and yet there was a ton in the wrap. There was a massive lack of tzatziki sauce which is THE star of the gyro besides the meat. It didn't even taste or try to mimic the gyro meat. Fried grits was basically their version of polenta or mozzarella sticks to me. Would've wanted the marinara sauce on the side and much of it. That was delicious and super thick and creamy. I'd be inclined to return and order a chicken meal or a taco as the reviews speak well of those items.

This has been on my list of places to check out for a while! If was some of the best vegan food I've had in the city. And it's soul food which is even better - Ive always loved collard greens and Mac and cheese but since being dairy and meat free it's hard to find good versions of both that don't use bacon or dairy. Now I've officially found my go-to when I'm getting a craving. I got the jerk tofu bowl (subbed with chicken) with Mac and cheese, collard greens and candied sweet potatoes. The jerk chicken breading was perfectly crispy, the Mac and cheese was gooey and cheesy, and the collard greens were savory and delicious. And the candied sweet potatoes? In all honesty, most candied sweet potato dishes are too sweet for me but these were the perfect balance of sweet and savory and I kind of wanted an entire plate of these alone. It's a healthy portion size so come hungry or be prepared for leftovers (I'm eating mine as I write this - so good) The sunny dining room was cozy and the staff were friendly. And even though it was a weekday it was busy, with people coming in to eat and ordering to take home - it's clearly a neighborhood favorite. I'll definitely be back!

The food was great. I got their oyster mushroom tacos. It was delicious. The strawberry cheesecake was some of the best cheesecake I have ever tasted! Veronica and KeKe had great customer service and I loved the atmosphere with the old school music!

First time trying wings from this spot and they were amazing! The service was friendly and we got to chat briefly with the owner which was great. The ambiance was warm and inviting and I'm looking forward to coming back again next time I'm visiting Chicago! Love supporting small business :) good food

This place ranks on the higher end of vegan soul food restaurants I've tried. The menu is really broad and appealing; if you want fake meat or tofu, there's that, but plenty of bean-based creations as well. I walked in and ordered and received a takeout bag, which was a little odd as they had nice seats and I was going to eat in, but I looked at how nice of an evening it was and reconsidered anyway. I got a warm welcome, so I didn't get the sense they were trying to get rid of me. My okra was fried with stems on, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but they were still fine to eat and probably marginally better from a health perspective. It smelled delicious, and the taste lived up to it. My salad was a bit more of a mixed bag. The black eyed pea fritters it came with were richly flavored (acaraje, some might call these), but the salad itself left something to be desired. The amount of greens was not large, and it seemed like basic lettuce and not kale as listed in the menu. My sorrel (a hibiscus flower beverage) was pricey for what it was, but very tasty. While my experience wasn't perfect, if I came back I'd order differently and I bet it would be good.

Plant-based Tamika always gives the best recommendations on Instagram, and her video of Majani was yet another one that piqued my interest. We drove out here on a Friday evening after work, about a half hour from where we live in Northwest IN. We easily found street parking nearby. It is an interesting location, right across from the train tracks, in an area of the city we haven't been to before. We started with the Black Eye Pea Fritters. These weren't my favorite as I detected the taste of celery in the seasoning, which is a flavor I'm not very fond of, but I'm glad I tried them. I was torn on what to order but ended up going with the Oyster Mushroom Tacos. Two tacos came with the order, and these were delicious. They are fried mushrooms, but they weren't as greasy as I was worried they might be. My husband went with a Gyro Sandwich, and this was delicious as well! We chose the Lemon and German Chocolate cupcakes for dessert, and I especially enjoyed the Lemon one even though we aren't always the biggest fans of vegan desserts. This seems like a place that is better for carry-out. There is some inside seating, which we elected to use, but our food was still brought out in carry-out containers even though we ordered for dine-in. Also, we asked for water, and they aren't equipped to be able to provide standard dine-in water glasses either. They mentioned there was a dollar store across the street if we needed water. All in all, the food stands out for the unique offerings they are providing, and I would definitely return to pick up a delicious vegan taco or sandwich!

Now that I am adding more vegan to my diet, I have been going to more vegan restaurants in Chicago. I was pleasantly surprised to wander upon a vegan restaurant in South Shore. I ordered fried okra, black-eyed peas fritters, and red beans and yellow rice. This is one of the first vegan restaurants I've been to that isn't afraid to use seasoning in the recipes. And I don't mean going overboard with salt. My friend ordered the mushroom burger and devoured it in silence. That was all I needed to know that it was good. In my usual fashion, I arrived shortly after the doors opened. So, service wasn't scrambled and I could enjoy the dining experience without having anyone crowding my space. Definitely gotta try some of the other menu items.

    Great vibe! Comfortable atmosphere!

We were visiting from Phoenix AZ for the weekend and looking for a vegan spot close to our family's home. We were directed to this delightful spot right in the neighborhood. The staff was pleasant, helpful with our selection and very kind! The food was so delicious! The presentation was beautiful and everything was fresh and well prepared. We even went back the following day. We had the bbq cauliflower and vegan Mac n cheese, so good! The restaurant had large windows for a beautiful open feel. We will definitely return!

Super flavorful food, price is right. Great service as well! I got the jerk tofu mac&cheese, collard greens, & sweet potato dish to go, and the portions were super filling. So hard to find a solid vegan spot, and this definitely hit the spot! I'm not vegan, and this meal was incredible. Would come back again!

    Nadine S.

I am not vegan but decided to check it out with a friend who is. I think they are closed to dining in but they allowed us to stay and eat but they're was no one to serve us so we ordered at the counter. Our food canned in delivery containers also. This meant also no water for us which was not ideal. We ordered the falafel fritters and oyster mushrooms. I thought they were both delicious, flavorful and crispy. Slight earthy taste to the mushrooms but not overpowering. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a tasty vegan place, just don't expect to dine in. Street parking was available but scarce.

The broccoli was fabulous- super crispy with a flavourful peanut sauce. It was definitely the highlight of our meal. The volcano roll was a mountain of salty mayonaisse heaped on top of relatively good sushi. The overall effect was not altogether pleasant. The avocado beetroot tartare was quite good but nothing exceptional. The steamed boy choy was done very well, with a lovely soy ginger sesame sauce that paired beautifully with it. The chilli crab noodles were near inedible: very little flavour and basically floating in oil. The brownie and ice cream were good. Service was decent, and the food came out super fast. We sat outside, and enjoyed people-watching more than the meal itself. In sum, we will not return. I am vegetarian, and was super excited about going to an all-vegan sushi place, but was left quite disappointed. My pescatarian dining partner was also similarly unimpressed.

My main grudge on this night was the pour of sparkling wine (brut). Champagne flutes are typically six ounces. A standard pour of wine is five ounces. That means a pour of sparkling wine should stop about 1 inch from the rim of the glass*. Not so this time. I thought the bartender had emptied the bottle and was going to continue his pour with a new bottle, but no - that was not the case (I was seated at the bar.) I had gotten only about 3 out of 5 ounces of a $16 glass of wine. Not cool since every patron is charged an automatic 20% hospitality surcharge per check. (It looked more like a pour for a toast at a wedding!) Other than this major lapse in bartending etiquette - and yes, I considered saying something at the time but did not, hence, this review - my meal was fine (with the exception of the onion tart - not what I expected an onion tart to be: go with the crab cake!). *Note: I have worked part-time in F&B from 1994 to 2024 in all manner of restaurants/catering/country clubs, etc., including as a BASSET certified bartender, so I know what a pour of wine should be (and look like) in a standard champagne flute!

Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option. The smoothie was good as well, though I personally prefer fruit-forward smoothies with lighter juices, so the almond milk base wasn't quite my favorite, but it still complemented the meal nicely.
