Be sure to call in to make an appointment before you head here. Apart from wines, Majella manages a farm of Merino lambs and ewes. Famed for their Majella Sparkling Shiraz, you won't find many in their cellar door or in bottle shops around Adelaide. They usually come out in November, so give the guys a tinkle or check their website and lock in your order! Look out for their prized babies, The Malleea and The Musician. Be sure to include this cellar door in your 'must visit' wine tour. read more

Family owned and operated. Iconic Coonawarra winery specialising in reds, and hard to beat Cabernet. Friendly service and modern cellar door area. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and came home with a selection of all the reds on offer. The sparkling wines were a hit with our group also. A must visit winery in Coonawarra. (from a previous review we read... unless you're a bus or large group you don't need to make an appointment). read more

Wonderful iconic Coonawarra winery. Nice tasting room with a bit of space although it needs more counter area. Extraordinary range of reds here. We loved the Musician, the Merlot, the Shiraz and the Cabernet Sauvignon, both standard and reserve (the $80 Mallea I think it was called, was very generously on for free tasting too). Marie and Sue took wonderful care of our group which responded by spending many hundreds of dollars on the above mentioned reds which we see as a very sound investment. I also went for a couple of Rose because I liked it. I ended up falling for Marie big time - she's gorgeous and has this soft North American accent - but haven't told her or my wife yet. We really enjoyed the tasting. If you visit the Coonawarra, you have to visit here. read more

Welcome to Majella Wines, one of the most awarded small Australian wineries. We are a family owned winery based in the famous Coonawarra wine region in South Australia, home to some of Australia’s greatest wines. The Lynn family have been residents of the Penola – Coonawarra district for five generations, starting off as blacksmiths, wheelwrights, storekeepers and finally, graziers. In 1968 Brian and Anthony Lynn started planting a vineyard on the Coonawarra property that their parents had purchased back in 1960. At that stage the property was used for prime lamb production, but a decision was made to convert a lovely “terra rossa” bank on the front of the farm into vineyards. Eventually the size of the vineyards grew to 60 hectares. The remainder of the land is still used for sheep grazing, mostly for prime lamb production.
