Now one thing I still haven't found anywhere in Italy is good old Southern hospitality. I guess that's expected since I'm a long way from the good ole USA South. But I'm adjusting, and honestly I came here for the food, not warm welcomes and waiters calling me "darlin'." I ordered a Coca-Cola because as a certified water snob, I'm still searching for that magical glass of water over here. For dinner I ordered the Spaghetti allo Scoglio. Sounds fancy, right? If you know Italian, I'm sure it does. I was just thankful the menu also said "spaghetti with seafood" underneath it so I didn't accidentally order octopus eyeballs or something. When the dish hit the table it looked like Michelangelo himself had snuck into the kitchen and started plating pasta instead of painting ceilings. I grabbed the fork, rolled the pasta onto the spoon like a seasoned Italian for about three seconds, and took a bite. Bam. There it is boys. The best pasta dish I've had since touching down on this foreign land. The sauce was hot, creamy, and cooked to perfection. The seafood was fantastic and every bite was loaded with flavor. This dish absolutely hit the 5 mark for food quality. I'm giving the overall experience 4 stars because I had to ask for bread and they're still lacking that Southern hospitality touch. But the food was excellent, the outdoor seating was great, and this is definitely a place I may find myself back at again before leaving Venice.
