This is cheap stuff bought wholesale. The service is the worst. They are a chain shop support small businesses in shore towns.

Making Waves in Cape May is a great place to get quality T-Shirts and Sweatshirts. I was lucky that I went on sale days after Christmas and New Year's. Easily found on the main pedestrian friendly drag that Cape May is known for. They had a nice window display, which is what lured me in in the first place. Small but interesting mix of products from your typical souvenirs with CAPE MAY slathered all over it to more unusual boutique clothes and jewelry. Nicely decorated and fair pricing for shop in this area. read more

My friend and I were visiting Cape May, and shopping in the plaza. We saw this store that appeared inviting and appealing and decided to enter the establishment. This is unfortunately where we went wrong. As we perused the merchandise, a very rude employee was standing in the back of the store folding clothing. As I handed my friend a bag to hold from another store, my friend noticed that we were being watched very intently for no apparent reason by this employee. She stared at us the entirety of the time that we were there (a total of two minutes). My friend mentioned to me that she was staring at us and was making her feel unwelcome, and in retaliation, the employee said "I'm just doing my job!"I was not aware that staring at customers and making them feel unwelcome was a part of the job description. After realizing that she was continuously staring at us in a rude manner, we decided to leave the store. As we were walking out, she walked swiftly behind us and harshly yelled "Have a good day!" in a facetious manner. All in all, my friend and I had simply intended to leisurely peruse the items in this store and this employee made it impossible to do so. This is no way to treat customers and I hope that this does not happen to anyone else. The store was very nice inside and I was hoping to purchase something but was unfortunately unable to do so. read more

I purchased from Making Waves by using their online store through Shoptiques.com. This was my very first order on Shoptiques.com, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I do the grand majority of my shopping online, but I usually buy through sites like Nordstrom, Macy's, and Bloomingdale's since in-store returns are so easy. At any rate, I purchased my floral top online July 15th, and I received it three days later! The item was well packaged, and I even received a handwritten note. WOW! If you're a local gal, be sure to stop in to Making Waves. Even though I live in California, Making Waves is going to be an online favorite for me. I liked the uniqueness of the items sold and an excellent sale was going on, but was immediately very turned off for the following reasons. The person at the counter did not seem pleasant... it was apparent she did not want to be there. Second, my 3 year old really had to use the restroom. It was freezing outside and we were not able to use it for him. We were purchasing customers so I've never come across this issue before. An adult is one thing, but a toddler is a complete other story. We had to run him down the street and poor kid literally just made it. If I'm a purchasing customer at least pretend to be helpful and in a descent mood... fake a smile. "Happy New Year's! How can I help you? " or simple "hello. How are you?" Would be nice. I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Like I shouldn't be in there or something. read more

My second year coming down for the summer, and Rachel made this by far the best shopping experience out of all the stores I've visited. She was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and a great saleswoman. I felt so welcome in the store with her candid sweet personality. She also has beautiful taste in jewelry- she told me that the ring I bought was one that I had picked out for the store. Great store - good selection - friendly service! Talk about an absolute jackpot! I came into this store while on a phone call to keep warm and multitask. What I was not expecting was to find a ton of tops and dresses that I fell in love with and had to try on! They carry one of my favorite lines called "tres bien" so needless to say I was impressed! I haven't ever been to a place as well stocked as this was! The girl who was closing on Saturday night sounded like a buyer for the shop and she was super friendly and let me browse for however long I needed. This is a cute little shop located right in centeral Washington Street Mall. They have many things, from ocean-themed jewelry to beach clothing to purses and belts. The manager was very friendly, and the merchandise was very reasonably priced, especially if on sale. My mom bought two denim jackets, which she still wears. A bought an adorable little clutch that I still use. I recommend you make a quick stop here if you're visiting Cape May! read more
