The horse guide, Houston, was the best from the friendly greetings, giving directions, to helping get on the horse, wonderful trial ride, and the farewell. Houston was knowledgeable about the horse riding and the trial area and he gave us some history of the area. This is an awful company. I had a reservation for a ride with my wife and we got a flat tire while on the way there. We were only 15 minutes away and even though I called 30 mins before we needed to be there, they refused to reschedule. I sent pictures of the flat and explained the situation but they refused. I understand that businesses sometimes have to charge customers that have last minute cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances but who charges the full amount? I could understand not having to pay a deposit, but charging them the full amount for something they didnt even get to use is unfair. They refused to even give us a credit for a future ride and just kept our $400+. There are plenty of other options in the Malibu area for horseback riding. Choose one of them and don't make the same mistake I did. I believe the reviews are fake and incentivized. read more

We had an unforgettable horseback ride with our guide, Chris. During the tour, a MASSIVE decayed tree branch suddenly fell on her and her horse - a total freak accident. Even though she was the one banged up and nearly had very serious injuries and her horse ran off terrified (she eventually got him to come back!). Chris stayed calm, checked on all of us, and made sure the ride continued safely and fun. What amazed me most was that she still kept the experience fun, lighthearted, and even took group photos afterward. We were visiting from Atlanta for a wedding and had booked Malibu Riders as a highlight of our trip--something we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately, on our way to the meetup location, we got a flat tire and were stranded on the side of the road. We immediately contacted the company, explained the situation, and even sent photos for verification. By the time roadside assistance resolved the issue, we had missed our scheduled ride. We reached out to ask if a refund or even a voucher for a future visit might be possible, given the circumstances were completely out of our control. Unfortunately, neither option was offered. We didn't receive a response until the following day, when we were given a single alternative time for a ride at half the duration of what we originally booked, which didn't work with our schedule. As a result, we lost $430 for an experience we never had. While we understand that businesses have policies in place, the lack of flexibility or timely communication in this situation was very disappointing and had a negative impact on our trip. If you're considering booking, you may want to explore other horseback riding companies that are more accommodating when unexpected situations arise. read more

Had a great time in Augora Hills riding my assigned horse, "Travel." My guides, "Alexia" and "Scout," were both very helpful and attentive. I chose the one hour Paramount Ranch ride. Alexia clearly explained to the group I was in, how to ride the horse and provided us with tips and tricks to get our horse back on task if the horse chose not to cooperate. During the ride, I was able to take in the peace and quiet. My highlight was seeing a buck with his family walking around nearby. The horses are well kept and taken care of. I think I'll try the 1.50 hour scenic ocean ride next time. I heard it's a breathtaking experience. My only advice is to make sure you get there about an hour early. I ran into some traffic and unexpected lane closures. I definitely recommend this place. read more

My friend and I had Kris as our instructor today, and she was absolutely amazing! Even though we were riding in the back of the group, she consistently checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable and having a great time, which we definitely were. She explained everything thoroughly before we started, so we knew exactly what to expect. And if we couldn't hear her during the ride, she made sure to repeat herself so no one missed anything. We had a great ride at paramount ranch today. Our guide, Alexia, was spectacular and so good at her job. Not only does she have the perfect temperament to deal with eight riders and horses and also a new horse (she rode), two days on the job, But she went above and beyond to ensure the riders and horses were matched appropriately (with very little time to assess). I'm not sure how she did it, but she was very good at ensuring the right rider was assigned to the right horse. She deserves five + stars all for herself. It was my son's first time riding and he did a great job because the horse he was on was perfect for him. We ended up at the back of the line, but it didn't feel like we were excluded by any means.
