One day on Facebook, an ad popped up for this place and I realized what I thought it was and what it actually was is completely different. This place is a treasure chest. One that you will need ample time and patience for. This business of full of rows of bins of returns from amazon. Depending on the day, determines how much your treasure finds are. No matter what you find this is what You pay for one item: Monday $4 Tuesday $3 Wednesday $2 Thursday $2 Friday $6 Saturday $5 Bring plastic gloves. You'll be digging through bins and items. You'll thank me for this. Some of the items are in boxes and you can't tell what the item looks like. Don't open at the bin. You can bring any item to an opening station, and they will open for you. They restock and replenish on Friday & Saturday - hence the higher price tag. Our best find has been two hydro flask for $3 each. But we've purchased portable chargers, skin care items, collagen peptides, coffee, face masks, blankets, comforters and so much more. All from their bins. They do have a shoe area and other items not located in the bins. Those items are Priced as Marked. If you have some spare time and enjoy a good find, then this place is for you.

They're always asking about my race and background. How can I be English? How did I get McCullough if I'm English? It gets old. But moving on. This is a beautiful plaza which is vast and expensive and has an Asian flavour about it. Lots of cool foreign stuff and college stuff since this is the university area. It has an interesting design and while there are not nearly enough parking spots and some very rude people that don't know how to park, what I will say is that it is a pretty splendid and fantastic mall, and features a lot of hidden gems, which you could explore for a long time. And I always end up here and have been coming here for several years. Would score 5 if it was slightly easier to access from the main roads.

The different strips are on separate levels so there is some up and down driving and some stairs to get from one to the other area. Some of the buildings are more than one level as well. It's a large shopping center and there is enough parking during the normal times of the year. The center is in an excellent location with access to two major roads in the University area of Charlotte and is across from the Carolinas Medical Center. McCullough LYNX station is nearby. Anchors here include Total Wine and Ashley Furniture. Walgreens has an outbuilding. There are a lot of smaller one-off shops and chain restaurants including Jimmy Johns and Qdoba. It tucked inside a few of the large buildings downtown and connect them all on one level. Not sure where you would technically say is starts but for me It begins in the Wachovia building (I think it truthfully starts in the BB and T building but I can't leave these few shops out in the Wachovia building) and continues all the way to the Hearst Tower. I have visited a lot of the shops and the restaurant inside. It's an escape from the elements outside and a cool thing to see. However on the weekends it's a ghost town. The mall caters to the working/ business people downtown. On the weekends only the section in the Bank of America plaza is open and only Walgreens and the lobby of the Omni seem to be open. There is security walking around though. There are several different entrances and exits for the mall. You can walk towards other building in the area and there are tons of tunnels and walkways that connect you to different restaurants and shops in those building. The only thing open in this "mall" was a Walgreen's in the BofA building, none of the passageways were open nor did any of the nearby hotel employees even know they existed. Apparently all there is to do in Uptown is eat or drink, as there is a wealth of great restaurant and bar options, but there is no retail whatsoever. None. Really and truly sad because it's such a beautiful city, but unless you're looking for a bar or restaurant crawl, or to watch one of the local sports teams lose, you'll have to go elsewhere.

Tucked behind an unassuming entrance on Tryon Street, this historic arcade transports you back to another era. Built in 1914 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the beautifully restored passageway connects Uptown's busy streets to a collection of locally owned restaurants, bars, and gathering spaces that feel both historic and modern. I love that the space encourages wandering. Take your time. Explore the storefronts. Grab a coffee, a cocktail, or a bite to eat. The skylit arcade, brick walkways, and European-inspired atmosphere make it feel unlike anywhere else in Charlotte. The real star here is the experience. You can stroll from Tryon Street through the arcade and emerge into Brevard Court, a lively courtyard filled with outdoor dining, people watching, and some of Uptown's most beloved local businesses. It feels intimate, walkable, and full of character. A word of advice: parking can be challenging. This is not a destination I'd recommend driving to unless you already have a plan. The best way to experience The Alley is on foot while exploring Uptown. Park in a nearby garage, take the light rail, hop on the streetcar, or make it part of a larger walking tour of the city. As someone still enjoying the process of discovering Charlotte, places like this make me appreciate the city's history and personality. It's compact, charming, and full of stories. Life is too short not to explore something new, Charlotte. Take a stroll through The Alley at Latta Arcade, slow down, and enjoy a piece of the city's history.
