Seems strange to write a review of a death camp....A few hours is not enough to take in all that you will see here. I implore you, book your tour as early in the day as possible or you will likely need to stay overnight in the nearby village to continue into the next day. It is A LOT. I pray that history like this does not repeat itself. If you are staying in Prague before or after your visit to Terezin, please make sure that you go to the correct bus pickup after you take the metro to the transfer. We had the incorrect platform information from an outdated guidebook and if you do not know the Czech language, it can be difficult to determine which platform to go to. read more

We took a tour of this concentration camp and we are so glad we did. It's a big lesson on history. The tour included a visit to the cemetery and the crematory. The tour gave an intimate view of what it was like to be held captive there from holding cells to shower rooms to sleeping quarters. Very eerie feeling walking through it all. Just recommend bringing a bottle water and snacks as this tour is long (ours was almost 4 hours) and no opportunity to purchase anything there. read more

I admit it, I have a fascination with concentration camps, so when I heard that there was a concentration camp near Prague, I just had to go. I booked the all day tour with Sandeman's, as I didn't want to worry about transportation. Terezín is a former military fortress used as a concentration camp during WWII. Although it was not an extermination camp, it was still a horrible place, and thousands of Jews died there, or were transported to other concentration camps, such as Auschwitz. Terezín was also heavily used for propaganda--ie. the Nazis tried to BS that the Jews had it pretty good there, when in reality, it was a terrible place to be. I had been to Sachsenhausen, in Berlin, earlier that year, and Terezín was very different, as we were walking through what looked like an idyllic little village, with buildings in pastel pinks and yellows. I didn't quite catch what the buildings were, if prisoners were kept in there or if they had other uses, but I believe they were part of the original camp. It was odd, walking through a cute little town, knowing what had happened there. I find it strange rating a concentration camp. On Yelp, 5 stars means "Woo hoo! As good as it gets!" but unless you're a Nazi, or a very sick individual, no one in their right mind would actually think that about a concentration camp. Fuck you, Hitler. Terezin Concentration Camp is a must visit. It is about an hour bus ride on the 413 bus from Letnany station, but well worth the trip. The camp is divided into several areas in Terezin. The Small Fortress housed most of the prisoners. There is a Ghetto Museum as well as the cemetery and crematorium. Very somber tour. read more

AMAZING WHAT HAPPENED. Cannot believe over 150000 people were held prisoner here. Take the tour. They have lot of languages. I took the English tour and it definitely brought the whole camp experience to life. There is no way you're going to know about every building and every little part about it unless you take the tour, take the tour. The tour is FREE with your ticket, just wait for the next tour guide that speaks your language and join the group. Out of all of the tours you could do at Czech Republic, I highly recommend that you do one at Terezin. The place would give you such an emotional passage into the past about what happened to the Jewish people during WWII. The historical significance of this place and how it is preserved are amazing. You will see actual Jewish concentration camps in person including all of the variety of styles of rooms they lived in. Terezin acted as a transit camp before the Jewish people were transported to Auschwitz. As such, it is one of the largest and most important site where the Jewish people were kept by the Nazis. It is hard to put into words in a review how significant of an experience it is, so I can only highly recommend people to pay this place a visit when you are in the Czech Republic. One more thing is the importance of the guide, and I would highly recommend Jeremy from SANDEMANs NEW Europe - Prague as your guide. Trust me; you will not regret it! read more
