My son got to try out a class with Coach Roy (who was wonderful!) to see if it was a good fit for him, and now he takes lessons weekly with Coach Justice (equally fantastic!). The whole staff is warm and friendly, and they accommodate to each child's needs. Coach Justice provides great structure and challenge for my son, while also allowing him the agency to be creative in what he's learning and working on. My son is engaged and focused the whole hour, and is really proud to show us at home the progress he's made each week. Lola went in knowing no Chinese, so we weren't sure how she would respond to being immersed in a language she didn't understand. The teachers made the transition feel easy and effortless. They did an amazing job keeping her engaged, enriched, and excited to participate while introducing her to Chinese through play, activities, music, and everyday routines. You can really tell how much thought, time, and effort goes into their curriculum. One of my favorite things is that the first thing the children do each morning after check-in is a morning stretch and exercise together as a whole school. It's such a positive way to start the day and creates a wonderful sense of community. We especially loved all of the teachers, and Li Laoshi and Naonao Laoshi were particular favorites for Lola. They are warm, attentive, and clearly care so much about the children. We always felt that Lola was in great hands. The biggest surprise for us has been seeing Lola's interest in Chinese develop over the month. She went from knowing nothing at all to recognizing and speaking a few Chinese words on her own--and, even more importantly, she has become curious and excited about the language. She can also count to twenty. For us, that is exactly what we hoped she would gain from this experience.
