However, if you're looking for a place in Northwest Iowa to buy games, or hang out and play some games, then it's definitely the right place for you! With a name that is perhaps a "tad" too clever for it's own good, The Pawn Shop is the kind of gaming store that you wouldn't expect to find in rural areas. Yeah, you might be able to find them in places like Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Ames, Des Moines, Omaha, or Minneapolis... but what is the gamer to do when you live 2 hours away from any of those places? The Pawn Shop is the answer to this dilemma for gamers in Northwest Iowa and surrounding territories. It's run by two gentleman by the name of Kevin and Grant who, without a doubt, have a passion for games of all kinds and who want to provide a place for others to gather and play games. Their fees are more than fair for the services they provide, and are willing to go out of their way to find a game item you might be looking for - if they don't have it on hand. I had them order me a colossal Golem Arcana figurine awhile back, and unfortunately it arrived to them damaged. It took a bit of time, but they got it straightened out and replaced through their distributors. Castle motif on the building is pretty cool, down to a facsimile of a drawbridge and the store displays are also pretty choice. I back all that stuff. Inside, there are 2 floors of mostly higher end toys and a lot of really expensive stuff, like telescopes and space-related gear. I really appreciate that a ton, though their selection of other toys, compared to several other higher end toys stores, could use some work. They definitely have the space, but inventory needs some work and selection, particularly of expected lines, such as Hasbro and Bruder, are nearly entirely lacking here. There are several toys I've seen here and nowhere else, which is always cool to see, but not enough of those... They do also have a Thomas the Tank Engine side room and a room devoted entirely to Legos, so if you're into either of those, you'll be taking a walk into heaven here. As to me, I found it highly interesting but not ultimately super critically necessary, I guess. If you want to use a credit card, they have a minimum purchase, but if you can't find $5 worth of stuff here, you're not trying hard enough. Definitely not the best toy store I've ever seen or been in but a very delightful find, no question.
