I'm leaving this review for both Bao Bar and Mamamade as I'm not sure what part of our food came from which entity. We ordered food to go. It's located inside Liberty Station and the vibe is pretty nice. Surprised I hadn't explored these restaurants before. We got the fried rice, the basil noodles and the bbq bao. The bbq bao was super interesting! I liked it. It's filled with a bbq sauce based filling likely made of potatoes and maybe meat. I would've liked more filling to go with the size of the bao. The fried rice was just ok and a little bit dry and bland. The basil noodles definitely took the top prize among the 3 as they were delicious, spicy and very flavorful. I also got a honey dew boba tea, which was delicious!! I will be back to try out some of their other stuff. read more

Stopped by this liberty market stall and ordered some fried rice. It was ok. I only ordered the Thai chicken fried rice so I can't say anything about the rest of the food. the fried rice wasn't really fried it tasted like white rice and some veggies and chicken. Customer service was good and food came out fairly quickly. Maybe too quickly. Next time take a few extra minutes to make sure the veggies are cooked more and add more flavor and fry to the rice. I might stop back by and check out another menu item one day. read more

Thai cuisine is one of my favorites and I'm always a sucker to try a Thai restaurant when I see it! I've given Mama Made multiple tries and have ordered many different dishes; unfortunately, it's never satisfying. This visit, I ordered the vegetable Pad Thai. I thought it tasted okay, probably could have used more flavor. I ate the noodles from one side and when I went to mix the noodles, the other side was drowning in sauce! I prefer and usually have Pad Thai noodles that are much drier but this dish had so much remaining liquid, causing the noodles to become soggy. Overall, I think the food here can be improved. Me and my sister shared a fried rice spicy and also yellow curry and both of them were made perfectly. We also got the spring rolls which was nice and crispy. After picking up my sister and her family at the airport, we decided to grab lunch together before they began their trek home to Los Angeles. They have an affinity for the Liberty Station Public Market and we also needed somewhere pup friendly, so it was a no brainer. I've only been to the Public Market a handful of times and each time I leave making a mental note that I need to frequent it more. It's so lively and there are a ton of food options that I desperately want to try! It's also a great option for a group because there is something for everyone here: pizza, burgers, tacos, Hawaiian food, all Asian cuisines, desserts, etc. It was quite crowded on this particular Sunday afternoon, so I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the long lines as I was really hungry, so I opted for Thai food from Mama Made as there was only one person ordering at that moment. It was a toss up between the yellow curry or pad see ew, but since it was in the upper 60's outside, I didn't think it was quite cold enough for soup, so I went for the noodles. I did have to wait quite a long time, and I would have normally docked a star for it as the rest of my family was already sitting to eat with their respective meals by the time I made it back to our table. It turned out though, that there was a 12-plate order ahead of me and I ended up being impressed with how gracefully the staff handled all of the hangry customers complaining to them. My pad see ew was delicious. They did not skimp on the chicken or the veggies, which I greatly appreciated. It was so filling that I ended up having an entire meal for lunch left over for the following day as well. Their was the perfect amount of soy sauce as well and the noodles had a perfect flavor. There's only one place I go to where I love the yellow chicken curry and after trying Mama Made's yellow chicken curry, I am a big fan and have found another Thai place that makes very well seasoned yellow curry! This is located inside Liberty Market. Family owned made with no MSG and fresh ingredients only. I have tried other dishes on their menu and I would have to say it's the Yellow Chicken Curry that I like and prefer the best here. The yellow chicken curry comes with white onions, carrots, potatoes, and chicken. The curry itself is very flavorful and the chicken is soft. I am a spicy eater so I'll add in a full mini cup of chili powder! Super delicious with white rice. They give you to go boxes with every order, you can reuse them! The Tom Kha Kai (don't know if I spelt that right) was ok. I wish there was more flavoring it to. To me the lime or whatever sourness they put in the soup took away from other flavors. The lime was def powerful. I also wish the coconut in it was more tasteful and I didn't really like the veggies they had in the soup. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back to get the soup. The Thai Tea was on the bland side. It was very subtle in flavor.. not your typical strong Thai tea I would say. On a busy day it could take up to 15 min for your food.. but hey.. while you're waiting you can take a look around the market or grab a seat with friends or family so it's not too bad to wait. Came here on a Thursday evening... not too busy, ordered and waited about 10 mins for my food to be ready. I appreciate how the food comes super hot in sturdy containers. I ordered basil stir fry with chicken. Ingredients tasted fresh, the vegetables maintained their vibrant colors and were not over cooked, they still had a nice crunch. The flavor is a nice combination of salty and sweet from the basil. It also has a little spice to it.. my tolerance for spicy food is pretty low, so it was a bit too spicy for me, I still liked it though. A decent single serving size, i got full before finishing it. I have seen Mama Made when I stop by Liberty Station with friends and family but never tried it before. Was here a few weeks ago and was feeling in the mood for some good Thai food. This place was really good. I have my reservation for my fave Thai place in San Diego but for a small shop that it is at liberty station they definitely can whip up a good dish! The service here is helpful and the food comes out at a good pace. The ambiance of this place mixes in with the whole scene of Liberty Market all together. There's like 20 restaurants or something in there all sharing the same eating areas together. Great place to try new foods though.
