And straight ahead is the person who takes orders, fills them, and finally cashes them out. Overhead is a listing of what the have in detail. Truthfully, being a new comer to Phillipine fòod, i was at a disadvantage. They alslo had a hot food display of about 10 or so dishes readily available. From reading reviews, the garlic rice and deep fried pork belly were favorites. Just plain delicious. Many of the other dishes were pork, chickèn, oŕ vegetables. Later we learned the pancet was in the back. My goofy order condisted of garlic rice (2 scoops) and a small order of deep fried pork belly. I was curious of what everything was by using the point and tell method. Somehow I endéd up with a chicken dish with more rice, that really jacked up the bill. All the dishes were labeled and the server was very helpful in telling what they were to the extent of pork or chicken.It became more confusing when the cashier came over to help. Solid Filipino food/grocery option in the area - well more of like deli/corner store level vs a full on grocery store, but you can at least can authentic pantry staples while you're waiting for food. I've usually only gone for breakfast, but tocino and longanisa has been solid for what I've eaten all the time on the west coast. As a Filipino I give this the authentic seal of approval. The turon and lechon were crispy, and the lechon meal came with lechon sauce (which is basically their home made mang tomas sauce) and two servings of rice. The sauce tasted slightly tangy and garlicky, going great with the crispy and juicy lechon. The dinuguan was also good, with a hint of a vinegar taste, just how I like it. The turon also had some langka (jackfruit) in it which is my absolute favvvv. Mama Rosa is also a convenient place to get snacks!! This isn't just a place to eat, but you can shop as well. Their shop is a bit small, but it has a good selection of nostalgic snacks (at least for me) like shrimp chips, boy bawang, polvoron, etc. they also sell bakery stuff like pandesal, leche flan, bibingka, etc. The store is not pet friendly, but service dogs are allowed. There IS outside seating with shade, so I'm guessing you can bring your dog there. The staff was friendly and answered questions well! We would gladly come back again to grab something that we're too lazy to make at home like lechon. read more

Loved my experience at Mama Rosa's! My husband and I both agreed that we'd finally found a spot in Baltimore to satisfy our Filipino fix! The staff is so incredibly welcoming. We arrived at 6:45pm on a Friday night not realizing they closed at 8pm so we made a plan of attack as quickly as we could and got ready to eat. We ended up ordering an amount of food appropriate for 8 people, despite there only being 3 of us. Not to worry, nothing was wasted! We had plenty to take home but this also afforded us the opportunity to try many things! Lumpia was a favorite and the BBQ pork paired with the garlic rice was definitely a dish I would order again. Mama Rosa has been around for years, now. I knew about this little Middle River gem for a while and was finally able to make a visit. Mama's is a Filipino grocery shop and restaurant that features delicious snacks and meals from the Pacific Island. My coworkers have spoiled me for years with delicious Filipino dishes. Fast forward to a recent Friday. I had a taste for some delicious pancit. I asked a few of my friends on where to go and they told me to go to Mama's. I perused the menu and although I had the option to call my order in or order online, I went straight to the shop. The owners were so very nice and endearing. They made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time visiting. I ordered pancit, with a combination of shredded chicken & shrimp, and an order of crispy, crunchy lumpia. The order would take about ten minutes to prepare, so I walked around the shop. They have SO MANY varieties of snacks, sauces and homemade desserts. It was so cool! From shrimp chips to purple sweet potato ice cream with cheese, the options were vast. Anyhoo, after receiving my order, I headed home. The first thing I noticed was how much food they give! For the decent price, I had more than enough food for 2-3 people! The pancit was flavorful and so good. The shrimp were fresh and the shredded chicken was also tasty. My favorite part of the whole meal, however, was the LUMPIA!!! It was absolutely delicious! My mouth is watering thinking about it now! It comes in twelve petite pieces of crispy, crunchy rolls filled with seasoned pork. I ate the whole portion that night! That is a highly recommended menu item, in my opinion. All in all, I cannot wait to go back to try the other dishes. I have my eyes on the pork adobo and of course, more lumpia. If you're looking for homemade tasting Filipino food, by all means, make Mama Rosa's your first stop. read more

On a mission to introduce my 70-year-old mother to new foods this year. Took her to Mama Rosa's yesterday, She's so funny. We told her we were going to get crispy pork belly and she looked appalled and said, "No thank you." I had to explain to her that "It's not tripe, mom. You're going to love it." Once it hit the table and she had her first bite, I was so proud when she went back for piece after piece. She also LOVED the eggplant omelette, and the lumpia. The seafood noodle was not a hit, as it was deemed "too fishy" but everything else was met with positive mmmms of approval. Must warn you, the front door is incredibly heavy for reasons. She struggled to open it. Also, I'm a wheelchair user and it's a bit of a pain to weave through all the tables and chairs to get to the ramp. Accessibility is important, and to be met with so many challenges just to get into the restaurant is not very welcoming. read more

Must try dessert (or snack) is the Halo-halo althought it's so-so plus they're not so generous on the flan and ube halaya. Bbq's so good as usual but the taste of pancit differs widely after a few visits, I hope they can work on being more consistent with the latter. What a hidden in plain sight gem!! We both ordered meal #2 and opted for the half chicken with garlic rice for $7.99. I could not believe the amount of food when I opened the container! Also ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. You get 5 huge rolls for $5.99!! The food was on point. Even the picky boyfriend enjoyed it. Mama Rosa's, to me, is totally unexpected for this suburban MD area. It is a cute storefront tucked away in a small shopping strip. At first I was confused by the grocery store type look from the outside, and the outside dining tables. Business looked confused from its initial impression. When you first walk in, there are shelves of filipino grocery items, snacks, and so much more. Along the back wall is a kitchen and trays of food, buffet-style. They have all the classic filipino foods-- lechon, sisig, pancit, lumpia, and anything else you could expect. The smell is intoxicating and will have you drooling in no time. My friend and I ordered to-go platters of the lechon kawali, sizzling sisig, the double daing na bangus appetizer, and some leche flan for dessert. YUM! All the food was good. I may be used to how other places and aunties, make these dishes, I cannot discount how great the food tastes. I thought the lechon kawali was superb! I was pleasantly surprised to get such tasty and authentic filipino food in this area, and I'm incredibly happy that this place is local and I can now come here all the time when I'm in the area. This is actually one of my least favorite filipino food spots. the main reason is because I found the lady behind the counter to be off putting and not very welcoming. The pancit was okay, but it was dry and I have had way better. I also ordered some lumpia...but they were just disappointing. I am all about supporting fellow kababayan, but Mama Rosa's food is over priced. In San Diego you get a bulk of food combo (3 dish) and rice for $8, In virginia you get $6 for the same. At Mama Rosa its $10 plus tax with small portion. Food is okay, its good but surely not worth the overprice. Definitely taking advantage of being one filipino restaurant around the area, I suppose. We always get takeout from Mama Rosa on account of it being our closest Filipino takeout place. We always get their barbecue and their lumpiang shanghai. If you like fish, get the double daing na bangus and grilled pampano. If you like eggplants, get the tortang talong with its shrimp paste sauce. When we went there yesterday, we had a big order as well as some grocery items and I forgot my sago't gulaman drink. Ms. Lanie chased me down the parking lot to hand me my drink.
