    Lechon Kawali Meal, Dinuguan, Turon
    Ray M.

As a Filipino I give this the authentic seal of approval. The turon and lechon were crispy, and the lechon meal came with lechon sauce (which is basically their home made mang tomas sauce) and two servings of rice. The sauce tasted slightly tangy and garlicky, going great with the crispy and juicy lechon. The dinuguan was also good, with a hint of a vinegar taste, just how I like it. The turon also had some langka (jackfruit) in it which is my absolute favvvv. Mama Rosa is also a convenient place to get snacks!! This isn't just a place to eat, but you can shop as well. Their shop is a bit small, but it has a good selection of nostalgic snacks (at least for me) like shrimp chips, boy bawang, polvoron, etc. they also sell bakery stuff like pandesal, leche flan, bibingka, etc. The store is not pet friendly, but service dogs are allowed. There IS outside seating with shade, so I'm guessing you can bring your dog there. The staff was friendly and answered questions well! We would gladly come back again to grab something that we're too lazy to make at home like lechon.

Loved my experience at Mama Rosa's! My husband and I both agreed that we'd finally found a spot in Baltimore to satisfy our Filipino fix! The staff is so incredibly welcoming. We arrived at 6:45pm on a Friday night not realizing they closed at 8pm so we made a plan of attack as quickly as we could and got ready to eat. We ended up ordering an amount of food appropriate for 8 people, despite there only being 3 of us. Not to worry, nothing was wasted! We had plenty to take home but this also afforded us the opportunity to try many things! Lumpia was a favorite and the BBQ pork paired with the garlic rice was definitely a dish I would order again. We loved the sizzling sisig. The surprise for me was how much I loved the side of pickled papaya and veggies. So good! Mama Rosa's also has a small market with various goodies. I bought some dried mango, shrimp crackers, shampoo and biko. Don't sleep on this casual, authentic spot!

I have been searching for good Lumpia since moving to Maryland. I am happy to say that I have found some. This is a small establishment that has both dine in and take away. They also have a small grocery section. The staff was nice and it was pretty clean overall.

Stopped here on a whim for take out dinner one day. Plenty of choices in the hot prepared foods case. I ended up with the sweet and sour fish with chicken Adobo. The chicken was ok, I'm not a fan of cut bones in my food and it was not very spicy. The fish dish was better and I'd order that again. Garlic rice was pleasant but I found myself wishing for a better side dish.

"Paborito" a Filipino word that means favorite. This is definitely one of my favorite Filipino low key restaurants/markets in the DMV area. Honey and no frills ambiance. The best part of their breakfast meals is the free pork sinigang soup that comes with it. On your way out you get to shop your usual Filipino snacks from Cheese Ice Cream to Hopias. Service is good as your kanayana will make sure to prep and serve your meal in a timely manner.

A treasured Filipino restaurant in the baltimore county area. Every time I come here, it feels like home. I love that they also sell groceries to help when I'm in the mood to both eat Filipino food and get all my ingredients. Service is friendly and plenty of seating. My go to sit down restaurant for when I'm craving quick Filipino food.

I just ordered today 12/16 around 6:30pm... I ordered crispy pata with garlic rice to go, i went home so my fiancée and i could enjoy it, but i was shocked that it was burned so i called them and told them, The old guy who cooked and cut it was rude and just said ok! And said thats how their crispy pata is... We have been ordering the same thing quite a few times and it never looked like this. This is ridiculous! Specially when i paid $25 for this and for it to be burnt is unacceptable!!! Go to James Fiesta Grill! Their crispy pata is wayyyyy better than this! Instead of saying im sorry or how can we help, He just hung up the phone. Anyways Please don't order crispy pata here!

Made an unplanned visit in the morning and found out that they will cook whatever you want. The usual foods were not out yet so we ordered some lechon to go. It was amazing freshly prepared!! We should have bought two containers as we devoured most of it on the way home. There are now plenty of tables to eat in and there are outside tables as well.

Mama Rosa has been around for years, now. I knew about this little Middle River gem for a while and was finally able to make a visit. Mama's is a Filipino grocery shop and restaurant that features delicious snacks and meals from the Pacific Island. My coworkers have spoiled me for years with delicious Filipino dishes. Fast forward to a recent Friday. I had a taste for some delicious pancit. I asked a few of my friends on where to go and they told me to go to Mama's. I perused the menu and although I had the option to call my order in or order online, I went straight to the shop. The owners were so very nice and endearing. They made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time visiting. I ordered pancit, with a combination of shredded chicken & shrimp, and an order of crispy, crunchy lumpia. The order would take about ten minutes to prepare, so I walked around the shop. They have SO MANY varieties of snacks, sauces and homemade desserts. It was so cool! From shrimp chips to purple sweet potato ice cream with cheese, the options were vast. Anyhoo, after receiving my order, I headed home. The first thing I noticed was how much food they give! For the decent price, I had more than enough food for 2-3 people! The pancit was flavorful and so good. The shrimp were fresh and the shredded chicken was also tasty. My favorite part of the whole meal, however, was the LUMPIA!!! It was absolutely delicious! My mouth is watering thinking about it now! It comes in twelve petite pieces of crispy, crunchy rolls filled with seasoned pork. I ate the whole portion that night! That is a highly recommended menu item, in my opinion. All in all, I cannot wait to go back to try the other dishes. I have my eyes on the pork adobo and of course, more lumpia. If you're looking for homemade tasting Filipino food, by all means, make Mama Rosa's your first stop.

No "Salt, Pepper, and Ketchup" needed in this kitchen…read more.. I got the double crab cake platter...it was all jumbo lump, perfectly formed, seasoned and golden crusted with the creamy center. The collard greens were fresh and you could tell they were slow simmered because the savory and smoky flavor was cooked into the greens. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and cheesy with hints of sharp cheddar. I'd never had snakehead fish, but it won't be my last time! The fish was fried golden, crispy, seasoned and meaty...I can imagine it makes an awesome fish sandwich! The pieces were big enough for my 2 teenaged daughters and myself to eat and have some leftover. The jumbo fried shrimp were also crispy but not over cooked!! They were seasoned and came with a tasty lil sauce. The wings were not too big nor were they too small. They were party wings, but they were crispy and did well the next day being reheated. They offer flavored wings (I think a bourbon bbq and Hennessy), but I wanted a plain fried wing and they were just as delicious as everything else. As odd as it may sound, the potato salad took the show for me! A wise woman once told me that if the potato salad is good, then it's highly likely that all of the food is good...the potato salad had the flavor, creaminess, texture, perfectly sized potato cubes blended with the other ingredients. Potato salad is one of my favorite dishes that I am just learning to make decently. Most restaurants buy their potato salad and you can tell! Not here, I think they have someone's grandmother back there with some cast iron pots and that old school tupperware that was extra thick!! In addition to going about 25 mins out my way while my food sat there, my ride home was about another 20-25 mins...my food was still fresh and did well being reheated when I went back for 2nds and the next day. I even enjoyed the reheated fried chicken which I usually do not do and prefer to just eat it cold. The food was so good, it was on our minds when we woke up the next day! My boyfriend said he hadn't had food that good in a while. That was a true compliment because he seems to only really enjoy his Mom, Sister, Step Mother and my cooking. He asked about any leftovers for lunch. Needless to say, I ordered again on Friday (I was so excited, I didn't get any pics)!! I prayed that the food would be just as good...and it was!! This time, I got everything I ordered the 1st time, but I swapped the fish and chicken for the smoked bbq ribs. I also ordered the strawberry lemonade and they threw in a pineapple upside down cake. The ribs were meaty, tender, sauced and everything a rib should be! I was worried that the strawberry lemonade would be too sweet (dopefiend sweet), but it was not...it was balanced and I could taste mint in it. The lemonade was really good after I froze it a little to get it slushy (it would go well with the spirit of your choice ) i am not a big cake or pie person, but the pineapple upside down cake was delicious. My daughter who is a cake fanatic said it was a good cake and enjoyed it. The owner and his son have a great thing going on here. Very rarely do I get to have an experience where the food is organically good, I don't have to add seasoning and they are consistent! The prices aren't bad at all and the food is fresh and of quality. In addition to it all, the customer service, helpfulness and appreciation made me want to scream from the rooftops how awesome they are. I posted a video of my food and several people I know made a visit, they all had nothing but good things to share and can't wait to go back. That makes me happy because my credibility means a lot to me if/when I make recommendations. It mean't so much to me that I came out of Yelp reviewer retirement just to give this small family owned business their props. My photos are not the greatest because I honestly didn't anticipate being so blown away and compelled to promote them. Hopefully everyone has an awesome experience and is able to get food that feeds their soul!

I think it's worth mentioning that I've never had pit beef before so I am by no means an expert as to what's good or not. I will also say however, that what I ordered, the open face pit beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was ok. The entire plate was swimming in gravy so that took away from what could've been a better meal. I did ask for gravy on the whole sandwich and the mashed potatoes (because the picture on their website looked like gravy only came on the mashed potatoes and I do like a little extra) but I wasn't expecting a to-go box literally full of gravy, so that's probably my fault. The texture of the beef mixed with all the gravy and mashed potatoes was a bit unpleasant and soupy and I periodically had to pick burnt bits and foil out my mouth so that also took away from the experience. They seem to have a pretty vast menu and I had no idea what I was going to get when I walked in. The young lady that took my order was very friendly and helped me come to my decision so the customer service was good and I appreciated her patience with me. As far as ambiance goes, while I was waiting for my order, there was an older man waiting for his order that was yelling at the tv about how Joe Biden hasn't done anything for this country and that Trump only told the truth. I try not to get caught up in politics with strangers because it really can be off putting but what can you do. I wouldn't do the gravy with a side of open face pit beef sandwich again but there's so many other options I'd like to try in the future should I find myself in the area again. A man that was also waiting for his order said he really like the ribs.
