The park is large, split into a few sections. There are permanent cabins, camp sites with both power and water or dry camping. Toilets and showers as well as laundry facilities available. Bicycle and hiking trails are also with in the area. Walk into town and try out the little cafes or brewery and pub. Everyone we met was friendly. Take the time to stay a while to explore this little treasure.

Wadlata have a self-guided tour through the history of the Flinders Ranges and Outback Australia, according to the Wadlata website this tour covers 1300sqm where you will see 22 films and 30 interactive displays. Highly recommended for everyone.

I have the pleasure of visiting Whyalla every now and then for work. The Quest is just across the…read moreroad from work so it's super convenient, particularly in times when I fly in and have no car. But work is pretty much the only thing it is convenient too. There is a small shopping strip close by but everything closes by 6pm. The only place I found close by to eat was the Bayview Hotel who thankfully were happy to do takeaway for me so I didn't have to spend every night in the pub. The closest supermarket is a 5km round trip so it's okay to walk there (over a massive hill) but it's hard to carry home a lot of groceries. The apartments themselves are quite lovely. Better than what I was expecting as the outside is fairly run down. The reception is unstaffed so you need to get your room key out of a secure box. My key code had been entered incorrectly so I had to call someone to assist me. That was the only contact I had with anyone from Quest for my entire stay. I left my key in a box on the way out. It is a serviced apartment so you have a full kitchen with all the crockery and utensils you will need. The microwave is in the cupboard above the fridge... took me a few days to figure that one out. The couch and bed are all comfy and the servicing is sufficient. The best thing is the bathroom. Lovely big bath to relax in after a hard day. Despite the front doors being secure and you needing a key to enter, the carpark was open to the street with no security on the doors from the carpark. Anyone could just walk on through. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable during a week where there was a murder in town......

So, don't compare it to a spa resort or a funky inner city apartment. It's a cabin park full of cabins... Having said that, I was really impressed with it in many ways. Here is my list of great things: - easy to find. - friendly and helpful on phone when booking (even when I changed it from 3 nights, 3 bed cabin, to just 2 nights and one bed and only a couple of weeks before booking - very accommodating). - extremely welcoming and helpful at reception. - made it clear to me that there was a man available 24/7 if i needed anything (anything?!). Considering my possibly unfounded, generalised opinion of Port Pirie and of staying there on my own, I found this rather reassuring. - cabins spacious and very clean and neat. - on main road in town. Easy to get to everywhere. - enough room to put my mountain bike inside! - loads of cabins so it's perfect for large groups to stay together. A couple of downsides: - all the cabins looked the same. There were big numbers on the side for identification though, but aesthetically it didn't make for a pretty setting. - no trees or plants at all so the park was very plain looking and austere. - the cabin park roads and paths comprised stones - not easy on my high heels. All in all a very pleasant stay!

Would recommend Port Augusta for a family holiday 100%, has all the facilities you need including a pool. Very Modern always room for improvement on Wheelchair accessibility.

The first visit there was an issue with the lock on our room so we got upgraded to a full family suite for no extra and on our latest visit we received a free upgrade to an apartment spa suite because they weren't fully booked. This accommodation may cost more than some other options in Port Augusta but I would say the little extra is worth it for your own comfort. All rooms are newly designed so there is no 'old motel' feeling at all and the grounds are nice, upon going for a short walk I found a small communal BBQ and seating area that groups can use, free wifi and other features set this place apart from the rest. There is also a pool available for use which is quite nice too and well enclosed from the public outside, a perfect place to relax after doing some sightseeing or a long drive across the west coast area.

The only down side is the close proximity to the railway line and the level crossing bells and trains passing at all hours ! Ear plugs are a must to get a decent sleep, which I had. A big fibreglass shark and lots of shark information (plus we posed for some naughty photos with the shark) They had a real shark fin and a real set of shark teeth. For only $3 it's worth it. I stayed in a studio cabin, which was small but had everything I needed, including a stovetop, fridge/freezer & microwave. Dishwashing liquid and toiletries were also provided which isn't always the norm in a caravan park. The park itself is right on the beach - there are caravan sites practically in the water if that's what you're after! It was lovely to be so close to the beach and it's just a short walk along the shore to the marina too. The facilities provided were very good too, although I didn't use many of them because I was working, There's a great little playground with a jumping pillow, and if you get a playground view cabin mum & dad can sit on the balcony with a wine and watch the kids play :) There's a laundry and a shared shower/toilet block for those who are camping or without ensuites. Lots of options for rooms or sites so you should find something to suit what you need!
