"$1 per 2 oz pour, or try them all for $7" is not actually a better deal to get the tasting, since there are 7 of them. What a great spot! We stopped at MBC on 4th of July weekend and loved the new spot! We shared the two different flights and enjoyed the outside area with our dog. The beer selection is great, but I especially LOVED the root beer- it's by far the best root beer I've ever had! I bought a growler of root beer and I'm afraid that when I finish it I'll have to make the 5 hour trip from LA just to refill it! This is an updated review. I've been to this brewery about 20 times in my life, good beer, decent food, would normally recommend. In the past year, however, something has happened to this place. In the last 4 visits, we have been served fries and told they're out of ketchup? Followed by wrong beers, I always order an epic IPA or IPA 395 and I was given a brown ale, but the waiter insisting that the beer was correct, that the brown ale was an ipa? Even by color, a brown ale is not an ipa and the beer was not corrected, my boyfriend finished the beer because we were not given the correct drink. Then a beer was spilt on the table, glass shattered (understandable I was a waitress for years mistakes happen) but the glass wasn't cleaned up and we had a dog with us that could have cut himself on the glass. And finally for the last straw, we were yelled at for seating ourselves even though we had put our name on the list and been seated by a waitress, and then after ordering 2 beers our bill said we had drank 4. When trying to correct this, the waiter argued saying we had had four, and that women forget how much they drink (sexist much!!)? I don't know what is going on with this place, but anywhere else for drinks is better at this point. I hate hate confrontation, and this place right now is not worth the trouble. read more

I wish there was something like this in LA! What a fun place! I will review the new Eatery inside the brewery in a separate review but I am always pro breweries offering some kind of food for their patrons. The brewery itself is big and has multiple benches and tables to stand or sit around. They have two flights that they offer. One is $5 for 7 tasters one of which is an amazing root beer! It tasted so fresh. They also have a 4 dollar flight for 4 tasters which is their seasonal selections. My favorite was the Paranoids but I enjoyed a lot of the other beer as well. My only complaint is how busy they are! We could barely find a place to sit or stand for that matter. The service was still excellent across the board and there was a great festive atmosphere throughout! read more

Beer flights for $7?! Sold! We stopped in on a busy Saturday afternoon to enjoy some beer tasting. The flight is one of the best values I've seen at any brewery with 7 generous pours. I appreciated the detailed list of every beer I was trying. I hate when places bring an unlabeled flight out and you can't remember which one is which. We ended up buying a growler and bottle to bring home. We didn't get a chance to try the food but the plates looked delicious. read more

My wife and I love checking out different brewery's. Mammoth brewery is nice. Seating is limited. They have a few small tables and 2 large group tables. The good is fried bar type food. Unique is taste. The dipping sauces are good. Small store to buy the usual things, glasses shirts and little memory stuff. The store is actually nicer than most brewery stores. Why go to mammoth brewery. The BEER is good. Get a flight for $5. That is really cheap to try beers. I like dark heavy beers and the totally delivered with their Lair of the bear. It's a bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial stout. 9.5% abv. A must try for all beer drinkers. read more

The tasting room experience is much improved now that MBC has moved into the space once occupied by the defunct Whiskey Creek, although the tatses are no longer complementary. MBC has leased out the kitchen to a local chef who is cranking out some imaginative small plate fare to nosh on while you drink the tasty beer. If you are like me, and had given up even trying to get into the old tasting room, give MBC another try. Their year-round brews are available all over town, but there is always a few seasonal beers available only here. read more

The new Eatery addition is fabulous. Tater tots are a must. The beer is great. Lair of the Bear from their seasonal collection was a personal favorite. The atmosphere is really rad. Make sure you get your receipt when you order food because there was a little discrepancy and we had no proof and the only way they can back track orders if you know the exact amount you spent, didn't put a damper on the experience, just cover your ass. read more

The flights are $5 these days and a steal so a good place to try. That said, I tour West Coast Micros and they are just so-so. Not great but not bad either. Being in Mammoth the flight price is a steal. The selection is OK at best. The 395 is there biggest seller and there is a reason...the others are not so good to gross. I like classics with a twist but there is none here. There is no other in Mammoth to go try and who knows, you may find one that suits you...I did not. read more

You just can't go wrong at Mammoth Brewing Company.. Unless you get there late on a weekend evening during the ski season and then you're going to have to seriously elbow your way through the crowds to get to the bar.. But thankfully it's still pre-season so what are you waiting for? Get your butt here and treat your taste buds to some amazing beer and tasty food! We're in mammoth pretty regularly through summer to partake in all the awesome backpacking and climbing the area has to offer and always make sure we finish out our epic weekend trips with a quick visit to grab a beer and a bite as our hard earned reward. Everything is good here - seriously! The atmosphere is chilled, the staff are friendly and the beer is cold! I only wish they would put in a fire pit or a couple of gas heaters in the beer garden so we could enjoy it when the temperatures drop like they're finally starting to do... Oh well, guess we just have to sit inside for a few months instead! read more

New location is great! (I guess it's not that new but it's been a while since I've been to Mammoth). There is a tasting room upstairs and seating and darts downstairs. We went on a Saturday night and it were able to find a table pretty easily. Beer tastings are $2/oz or you can get a very very reasonable flight (of 8 beers of 2 oz each but seemed to be more) for $5. They also offer their seasonal tastings which we tried too. I can't say I've had any of the food here but they do offer food that you can bring to the tasting rooms or downstairs on the other side of the room. Highlights I liked were the amber ale (Real McCoy), and their double nut brown. read more

Offer me a $6 flight and I'm all over it! Seriously, the flights are probably the best deal in town and the beers are good! I'm a vegetarian, not a lot of options. In all seriousness, there is one option: goatcheese flatbread (and I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese but it was good). Also had some tater tots that were pretty tasty. Even the salad had meat (and honestly, not every vegetarian always wants to eat salad). Overall though, great beers and a good vibe here. read more

I am not a real big fan of IPA ( my husbands fav) but I love their velvet IPA! It was golden and delicious! Not sour like the double IPA! I would definitely buy a growler just with that! read more

Tasty ales! These guys do a really good job. It was fun to have some brews made at 7800 feet above sea level. Mighty high! Tasted the Real McCoy Pale, Epic IPA, and their signature 395 IPA (made with local juniper berries and sage; ah yes I'd drink in those mountains all day long, but an 8% ABV seemed a bit too much at that altitude). Settled on the Epic. It was smooth and full bodied. A right nice pint. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten their taster tray, as they charge $1 per ounce for tastes over the bar. Great location. I visited in Summer, and they have lots of outdoor seating where I could even bring my little dog. The indoor space is large and I imagine it could be quite cozy in the Wintertime as well (it's the old Whiskey Creek for any "throwbacks" like me; I spent many après ski nights in the basement bar there listening to live music in the 70's)... There is an eatery within that is run by a separate entity. Didn't try the food, but folks seemed to be enjoying it. The staff was Great, very friendly and knowledgable. Overall, it was an extremely pleasant experience! I suggest you go and get and altitude adjustment :-) Mighty high indeed. read more

Great locale, right on the main corner of town, but the service logistics defy explanation. You are only able to get 2 out of either 5 or 7 "flights"/tasters at a time, and thus have to keep getting back in line to receive the rest of your purchase. In addition, you only get a "voucher"/receipt, and just wander all about, including outside on the patio, and pay later ?? The beer itself is quite good, and the growlers purchasing is seamless. My friends and I tried both the original and seasonal tasting menu, which for 9 & 13 dollars, you can sample their selection of beers. The place has open seating. The staffs were attentive and nice. My only gripe was the restroom downstairs, it was clean but something smelled funky. read more

Circumstances beyond my control led me to the Mammoth Lakes Brewing Company last week, and what a stroke of good luck indeed. A flight tasting for $6 highlighted seasonal brews, with my favorite being their J. Morris double IPA which had just been made. Fresh, crisp, hoppy, balanced. Only bummer is you have to drink this here as it is not available in bottles or growlers. Also of note is the Barrel Aged Eisbock at 10.5%. This brew had hints of whiskey and is definitely worth a pint if you are a fan of the harder stuff. The standard tasting for $5 includes my new favorite, the IPA 395 with hints of juniper berry and sage. Gin enthusiasts, Brits, etc, this beer is for you! It has a great label too, reminiscent of family vacations yesteryear driving up the famous and beautiful US 395. The Paranoids Pale is also worth a shot. The main bummer about this place is they do not distribute to the Bay Area-- blame it on the impenetrable Sierra's. And more the reason to return to Mammoth! read more

I had a great experience here today and it just made me really appreciate businesses with nice employees! I travel through mammoth very rarely for work. Last time I was here I bought my first growler full of some delicious seasonal apple ale. Unfortunately, when I got home and unwrapped and unscrewed my lid I heard a slight glass noise and noticed the very top of the lid was chipped and clinked off. Honestly, I drank some of the top layer anyway because it was DELICIOUS ale and glass sinks right? The beer here is amazing and not to be wasted. My great experience comes from the fact that I came here for work again, OVER a year later, explained the unfortunate happenings of my past to the nice worker lady, and she apologized and switched out my growler with a smile. I just really appreciated that she did not doubt me or give me the run around, and was really nice and friendly about it! I bought more beer and I can't wait to come back here again on my next trip. They always have new flavors going on and if you can't enjoy their beers at the brewery you can find them at a lot of local restaurants. read more

This was our 2nd time coming and we left with an "ehhh" feeling again about this place. I would definitely say this IS a BAR with a small restaurant attached. Both times we stood staring at the menu trying to find something to eat. I would say the menu is more Gastropub than bar food, some things were a little too far out there for our current appetites. We went with the main burger and was pretty good, also the rootbeer is really good. 1 thing that I did notice, is this place is not wheelchair friendly! The bathrooms are down a set of stairs, as is the bar to order your food and I did not see any wheelchair accessible tables on the main floor, only tall bar tables and stools, they might have had 1 table. But I did not see any signage for handicap accessible bathrooms available. read more

Just ended another great night at Mammoth Brewing Company. As usual the beer was awesome. This is the first night, I tried some of their food, with friends. We all enjoyed the amazing food, along with their great beer. No matter what you order food-wise, definitely add a couple of the Lobster Corn Dogs. The best news I heard, on the way out the door, is that they'll be expanding their outdoor area for the summer (maybe even with an outdoor bar.....awesome). read more

REVIEW ON BEER: The beer was good. This place is a fun local brewery, especially if you're visiting from out of town. I had the Amber Ale and it was tasty! FOOD: Overpriced. I personally wouldn't pay to eat dinner here again. Maybe one of the bar food orders but not for dinner. We ordered two entrees, kids hot dog and fries and paid a bit over $50! The food was ok, but not good enough to pay that price. ATMOSPHERE: Fun atmosphere. The outside is fun. Games and cool tables to chill out at. My visit here was primarily for a meal, and to attend their trivia night. About 30 minutes prior to arrival, they posted the nights trivia invitation to Facebook. The service was kind, and the menu looked promising. My wife ordered a bahn mi sandwich (new to the menu, the day we visited) and house made hop tater tots. I had a hanger steak with waffle fries. Her sandwich was good, but nothing near as spectacular as described. For $15 much more could be expected. The "hop" tater tots ($7) where more like croquettes than tots. She didn't like them enough to eat more than two... and at more than a dollar each, they where a disappointment. My hanger steak was ordered medium-rare, but served blue (very rare) with only a marginal sear. For $27 this entrée should be more than 4oz of beef, and it shouldn't be though as shoe leather, nor improperly cooked. The "smoked chimichuri" sauce was unpalatable, and went entirely uneaten. The waffle cut fries where served in a 10oz portion (I'd estimate)... a huge pile. The fries where overcooked, and dry internally. It was sad. Lastly, we left at about 7:20pm... trivia was advertised to begin at 7pm. There was NO SIGN of any impending trivia... even when directed to the upper floor for the event. I received a receipt via email (nearly $70) that allowed me to bring my comments to the attention of management. I took that opportunity, and received no response in 48 hours. You're reading the result... I'd skip it... they're not concerned with repeat business, I'd presume. Based on their (lack of) response to me. Nothing here was worth the bomb crater in my wallet. I now consider it a grade B tourist trap. read more

I have been a fan of micro brew beers for quite some time coming from Michigan where some of the best beer is brewed once I move to California I found this company who happens to brew some of the worst of beer I have ever come across not only does it taste bad not only is it expensive it makes me and plenty of the people ive talked to say that it is an unpleasant experience to drink for multiple reasons. Get the Imperial Root Beer! Nice Brewery that I had heard of many of times and purchase there items in the store. I had always want to visit mammoth and its brewery and the Stars had aligned to grant me a visit. The Tap room is big , and you can tell it is design for many people, all who would most likely be wearing puff outerwear. We arrived in the early fall, so it felt quite spacious. Many Beer to chose from, pick your poison and you can't go wrong really. Only thing I wish that the T-shirts designs were available in both Men and Women's. The one I wanted was women's only. It made my sad. I had to drowned my sorrows in more imperial Root beer (non-alcoholic). read more

Being from SoCal I've been to quite a few breweries down here so I have at least some experience in judging the fine art of craft beer tasting and I have to say Mammoth Brewing is something special. I'm not sure if it's the local water or the brewing process at 7,000 feet but these beers are pretty good. My favorite is the Real McCoy Pale Ale, the Epic IPA is a close 2nd. We didn't try the eatery inside but the food looked good from what I saw. Plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. A great job by the local guys. read more

I had tried a few beers by these guys at the Altadena Ale House and have always been a fan. So when a camping trip came up and put me only a short drive away I had to make the stop. I couldn't make up my mind so I ordered both tasting flights (14 beers).. I've been to a lot of breweries all over the country., from whole in the wall brand new breweries to established giant ones. With that said, I am very confident in saying that as a whole, Mammoth Brewing competes with the best. A few stand out as my personal favorites such as "El Capitan" and "BLONDIBOCK" but the most remarkable thing was that (almost) every beer, every style was a solid choice. Staff was busy, but always made an effort to tell us a little about each beer before we tasted it. I liked there stuff so much I lugged over a bomber to enjoy on my back packing trip. Disclaimer: I'm not a huge beer person. I came here with friends because they are... We actually came here for lunch, but sadly found out that they only have catered food that none of us liked. We wandered down the street for pizza and came back to satisfy our thirst!! I actually got the Root Beer tasting (don't judge, I was the DD!) The Root Beer was really weird, but the more I drank it, the more I liked it! Apparently it was "real" root beer made with sarsaparilla... Any who, the people reading this review is more interested in the beer!! Although I didn't order a full flight, my friends ordered the seasonal flight and I stole sips here and there (hee hee hee) I was really surprise by the variety of flavors and depths.
