This is a Korean restaurant in Bom Retiro neighborhood with the authentic Korean style barbecue…read more Each table is equipped with a charcoal grill and an exhaust system that might prevent you to leave the restaurant smelling like gogigui. Gogigui (barbecue in Korean) in is he main item in the menu, with different options (beef, chicken, pork, duck) for sharing, but other dishes are also available. We were in a group of 4 and none of us were in mood of having the barbecue. Moreover, we had a member trying Korean food for the very first time and another one who wasn't much into spicy food. Taking everything into consideration, we ordered 2 bowls of bibimbap and kimchi jjigae (stew with kimchi, tofu and pork). While waiting for the dishes to come, we were offered banchan (side dishes) which was okay. A portable stove was placed on the table for preparing the kimchi jjigae and all dishes were brought at once. Flavor-wise, everything was very tasty, but spiciness was an issue for the ones that were not really familiar to Korean food. But fortunately bibimbap was served with gochujang separately, so we managed to make and edible bibimbap for everyone's standards. In the end we realized that 1 bowl could be enough for the 4 of us. One curious thing happened while we were having our meal: a family with a child seated in a high chair had ordered the barbecue. We heard a scream all of sudden. The girl had put the hands over the hot grill! So one important piece of advice: make sure you keep an eye on children if you come here with your family.

Came here on the first day of the year, while 99% of São Paulo were closed, this one was open and…read moreshe was Chi Fu, where I had lunch on the same day. Chi Fu was crowded, and so was this one. Got there around 9:30pm and right upon our entrance, the owner had told us that due to NYD everything was gone. Couldn't believe it, after driving for almost an hour... So I asked him if they had kalbi, rice, kimchee, and some banchan. He answered yes to all. So we decided to dine in and try it out. Surprisingly they brought out a basket with piping hot charcoal, turn on the exhaust, brought some kalbi and we were in business! So I asked if they could whip up a bibimbap dorsot and the answer was yes! Even though they didn't have lettuce and practically out of most banchans, it was still worth the experience and for them going the extra mile of making the bibimbap, it was awesome! Plus service is quite polite. And it was charcoal instead of gas like most places, it's aroma it's unbeatable! Can't wait to go back and try other things and more banchans. The only thing that holds me back is the distance between my house and this restaurant. But... I'll be back fo'sho'!

Personally, I loved this place. (side note- I love lox, and salmon so a place called 'Lox Deli'…read moresuits me well). I had 2 hours to kill, so I brought a book and sat outside in the sun sipping on my coffee. I ordered some scrambled eggs with a side of the lox in virgin olive oil with dill. It was so good, I almost ordered another portion but stopped myself. That would have been a LOT of lox, as the portion size was quite sufficient. My waitress was especially nice. She knew exactly when to let me be- reading to myself- and somehow noticed the moment that I needed something and was at my side asking how she could help . As I was leaving, they were pulling out all of their brunch stuff. It looks like it is an all you can eat buffet of tasty healthy things like light-quiches and fruits and different types of salads. I would like to try it out next time I am in town.

One of these places is Lox Deli. One fine Saturday, I decided to try their breakfast (or brunch) menu and I was not at all disappointed - fresh house-made bagels with cream cheese, fruit salad with granola and great service - this place keeps growing on me..recommend a visit for breakfast/brunch which they serve all day. The highlight of Lox Deli definitely is the in-house bakery they have and its one of the best bagels I gave had in the city. It's relatively empty on Saturday mornings, so you can sit down and have a relaxed & savoury breakfast - the service is attentive, not pushy. I haven't seen big groups in here for breakfast - it's generally couples or single people and they do allow pets on the patio area. The coziness of the place, the attentive service and the great quality definitely make this one of those place to return. The only caveat that Lox Deli has that it is closed on Sundays - come on ! Sunday is world brunch day !!!
