I brought my car in to Manchaca Service Center for them to check out a sweet & sour smell that I couldn't figure out. I thought it might be antifreeze. They did a full inspection of all the parts that might be causing it and told me what they checked but didn't find anything. They didn't charge me anything. I don't know if that's common, but I was very grateful that they were so diligent, as it could've been anything that might've caused me trouble later on. So I recommend these guys! If you want your car out of commission for over two weeks you found the place! I had a brake issue and called before getting it towed to make sure they work on my make of car. They said yes. Next day they called saying they can't find a new part but can get a used one for $200. The guy was rude when I tried to ask how long a used one could work for. I ignored that. A *week later* they called saying the part wasn't right and they didn't know when they would get one. So i ended up taking a picture of it off my car and ordering one online for only $45. You would think they would have started working on it when I dropped it off but no. Called the next day and they said they'll try to get it to the day after. The level of disregard for other people's time and the inconvenience it caused, is absurd. Finally got my car back and they put some judgmental christian pamphlet in my cup holder. We thought we heard some brake noises coming from our Ford Escape. We brought it in Monday morning. I went over the issues with them and tuesday morning they called me and told me that after three test drives and pulling both wheels off to inspect the brake system they could find nothing wrong other than some possible front bearing wear that I should keep an ear out for down the road. I asked for the cost of the inspections and they told me my cost was zero, nadda. I offered to pay for their time and service but they declined as they hadnt actually repaired anything. I moved back to Texas recently and was in search of a good auto center to dedicate to for my 2008 Toyota Prius when need be. I wanted to support a local business and came across this place by Google. It was close to me and they were friendly over the phone so I gave them a chance. They also do everything so I liked the idea of having a one-stop center for all my maintenance needs. Came by three times in the last six months and have yet to be disappointed. I got my state inspection and an oil change here. It was very quick and smooth. The rates are reasonable. I admit I was a little concerned when I pulled up the very first time because of the not-commercially-perfectly-clean like chain businesses (i.e. white walls, manicured parking lot, etc) but later learned that they invest their time in their services rather than the look of their place. They didn't speak down to me as a female and Deaf customer and that was a refreshing change from the other places I've been to. My last visit was due to a concern about how my car was performing. I was upfront about my financial situation (TLDR: not good). They did a check and got back to me in less than two hours. They shared some minor issues but emphasized that it was nothing serious or immediately necessary. I was grateful for their honesty and quick work- especially if it was something I didn't need right now given my finances. They didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. In fact, they reassured me and made me feel good about my car and its maintenance plan. Also, some people (like one reviewer here) may be put off by the Christian materials in their waiting room. I am more spiritual than religious. However, I appreciate that they have moral standards that are within that realm. I never felt like they were pushing their beliefs on me- just sharing what they practiced. They are extremely kind people who work hard and that's rare these days. Exactly what I like to support. I first took my car here because it was convenient to where I live. It turned out to be the best service center I've ever been to. Ever. No joke. The pricing is more than fair and probably on the lower side, considering the quality and the work is done correctly the first time. When it comes to car repairs, you get what you pay for. Thank you, thank you, thank you! When you find a mechanic that doesn't manipulate you, doesn't charge you an arm and a leg...you've found a keeper! I had taken my car to Willie's Service Center on S. 1st for a state inspection. My car didn't pass and I was given a laundry list of issues (including "windshield wipers don't wipe properly") with a quote for $300, which didn't seem too extreme. The major issue was the exhaust pipe. Yet, I still left feeling skeptical - I paid for the failed inspection and decided to get a second opinion. I'm glad I did...went to Terry at Manchaca Service Center, who I've gone to before (further south, but soooo worth it). He noticed the exhaust pipe was extremely rusted right off the bat and told me I'd have to get that fixed before it passes. He didn't charge me the inspection fee. I returned the following week and he fully inspected my car, giving me the option of patching up the exhaust pipe (the easiest, quickest, and least expensive option). I saved more than $150, with no mention of the windshield wipers (because they DO wipe properly) and my car was ready to go in just two hours later. Got a vehicle inspection here. Very prompt, courteous people I dealt with. I think they did what they needed to do. I just know they have to send some documentation to the state so I can get my vehicle registration. My issue is the prostheletizing they do when you walk into the shop. Free bibles laying around. Tiny pamphlets about god's plan. Two page pamphlets that contain THE ANSWER. Holy crap. The Answer is only two pages long? And it's available to read while my car is serviced. Freaking beautiful. I highly recommend this auto repair shop. Terry and the other guys there have been fair with me and my ten year old car over the last two years. The latest was this past week when I found my passenger floor board to be sopping wet and a strange burning smell coming from car. Dropped it off with them. I received a phone call within 2 hours to tell me that the air conditioner was clogged and that was the only thing they could find wrong. In and out within 30 minutes, the guy was a straight shooter and didn't try to up sell or shoot the shit, he also had a sense of humor which is always nice when dealing with a garage full of testosterone in 100+ degree weather... Another 5 star review for Terry and Manchaca Service Center. Like most people, I am shamefully suspicious of mechanics. Unfortunately, a few bad apples have ruined the reputation of many good ones. My 2001 Nissan PU's AC completely went out last week and I took it to him. AC units are historically very expensive and I was bracing myself for the worst. Terry is very honest and could have easily replaced the entire unit. Especially since my truck is the age it is. However, Terry added some Freon and replaced a faulty switch for the compressor. It's blowing cold as ice again and I could not be more grateful. Terry is a man of faith and his business principles are top notch. I have found my new mechanic! As a woman, I dread going to any mechanic because I always feel like they try to take advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge. I remember the first time I went to see Terry, the owner, about doing some work I thought I needed. He asked me some questions , took a look at my car and proceeded to tell me my car was fine and I didn't have to have done what another mechanic had told me. It turned out to be something very minor vs. What I was thinking. Just today I called to get an estimate on some preventive services/ basic maintenance. He asked me the make ,model and year of my car to verify If I needed some or all of the services I called about. He told me he didn't think I needed a transmission flush, which would have been the most expensive of the 4 services I inquired about. All of this to say, Mr. Terry is an extremely honest man and really cares about his customers. THen they know our vehicle when we need major service. We found them by word of mouth because I wanted a second opinion on a quote that I had gotten from a big shop in Austin. He brought my $1300 quote down to $500 and we have been going to him ever since! We drive high milage vehicles and have had to get some major work done. I will never give this company my business again. I came in today to get my car inspected to renew my registration and was incredibly disappointed in the quality of customer service and care that was provided. Now, I totally understand that making 18 dollars on an inspection really isn't something spectacular during a work day, but I was amazed at how awful the service was. I walked into the shop, completely open to the place (because, how can someone screw up an inspection) and immediately was taken aback with how rude the mechanic was to me. He just said give me your keys and show me your insurance card...no big deal at first, until he took my car for a spin, peeled out of the driveway and almost hit a truck because he wasn't exactly looking in the rearview mirror. He came to a screeching holt (guess the brakes work fine), then peeled out of the driveway after almost running into the truck (I saw the ENTIRE thing and you would think that even though my car is 11 years old that you would take care of somebody else's property). He then pulled into the garage, did the remaining inspection and just told me, "okay, that's 18 dollars." He didn't elaborate on if the car was okay, no apology for almost running into the truck, nothing. I asked if everything was okay, and he said yup, paper is on the seat (which he mumbled) and then was kinda annoyed because I asked him again what he said considering I couldn't hear him the first time. Not to mention the entire time he had his headphones hooked up to his iPod and refused to take them out of his ears to help me out as a customer. Now, what really took me aback was the fact that once I got into my car, saw my paper, there was a little pamphlet on how God loves you, etc. I am most definitely a believer, go to church, and do my best to see the best in people; however, actions speak louder than words and I was really disappointed that mechanic acted the way he did and had the nerve to be like remember, Jesus is watching...ummm ok? Overall, very disappointed in the lack of care, customer service, and how the mechanic was annoyed with my business altogether. I take great care of my car and have no issues sending it to a mechanic to make sure that it's constantly running smoothly, but this place will never see my business again. Terry is my go-to guy when I need something serious done on my vehicles. I've been coming to him for years with diagnostics and needed repairs. He is so honest! One time I said, "such and such needs to be done on my car". He replied, "no, only this needs to be done." You can trust him to do only what needs to be done. He also accomplishes the needed repairs at a fraction of the dealer cost. For one repair I had a $2500. quote from the dealer, Terry did it for $900.
