The restaurant has tables of 4, but most customers are solo or double. These tables can't be separated so there was a long lineup out the door. We ordered curry brisket with rice and a side of mexi fries. The curry was tasty with a nice kick, but I've had better around the city. Prices were high for a HK cafe.

Remember this comfort food dish? A nice place where you can still hear yourself in a conversation (remember this?) AT your table/booth.

See my pics. There was actually more, but my trigger finger was slower than the chopsticks at my table. HK style restaurant with HK influences on western food. Think Gloucester Cafe on Cambie Street, or Vantea, or any of the other ones in the city. That's what this is. No surprises on the menu at all. I knew what it would be, except for one thing. It's not terribly extensive. That one came out of left field for me. I was expecting minimum 3-4 menus to confuse me. They only had two. Maybe it was because of the time I came? Late afternoon? Food was exactly as expected. No surprises nor real standouts. Al in all, quite decent. I'd venture to come back. My only hesitation would be the smaller menu. Service was polite and the staff very friendly. Wasn't terribly busy when I was here, and the place was clean. Parking in the strip mall lot as well as side streets. CC accepted.

Cream of mushroom soup

I came here with two seniors and we chose this restaurant because of the accessibility requirement (no stairs, wide parking stalls near the entrance, comfortable seating). However, the seniors were disappointed because the food was too salty. We arrived close to 1:15 p.m. on a Saturday. The restaurant was quite busy and we felt quite lucky to have a table free when we walked in as we didn't have reservation. There is a disable parking stall right outside the restaurant; however, we did not have a disability parking pass so I parked at the 20-minute spot beside it to let the seniors get off first. They have walking canes and it was easy for them to walk to the restaurant entrance. This was the primary reason we chose this restaurant. We ordered fish balls with thick rice noodle, beef stroganoff with rice, and grilled pork chops. The last two were set lunches that came with soup, bread, and a drink. I chose the cream of mushroom soup. The soup was quite salty. The senior who ordered the fish balls with rice noodles also found it too salty, she needed to add hot water to the soup to dilute it. The beef stroganoff, especially the sauce, was also on the salty side. Of the three dishes we ordered, the pork chop was the only one that was not overly salty (it may be because the senior who ordered it is less sensitive to taste). More disappointing is how I felt after the lunch, I was thirty for the rest of the day, an indication that there might be MSG in the food. Other than the food, service was pretty good. The servers were efficient but not pushy, they were patient when taking orders from the seniors. In conclusion, I would choose this restaurant again only for the ease of parking and the accessibility. There are other restaurants that provides better value for money.

My girlfriend and I don't usually go to Chinese resturants as they are a bit pricier, since I wanted to introduce her to some Chinese cusines, I thought I'd bring her to this place that's commonly talked about on Facebook groups. This resturant is located in a strip mall, so it parking was very easy, we just parked right in front of it and walked in. The interior had quite a lot of room, each table had their own space that you wouldn't feel the tightness even if it was crowded. Since we both have small stomachs, we figured we should order one main on the lunch menu, an appetizer and a chinese lemon tea. The calamari's portion was way bigger than we expected, I'd say you don't get that big of a portion for that price in other chinese places. I really enjoyed it as I'm usually not a big fan of calamaris, they're either heavily battered or underseasoned, this one was flavorful and battered appropriately. After enjoying the appetizers, we were looking forward to taste the Grilled chicken with rice as the name sounded amazing in Chinese. However, it wasn't as flavorful, since it wasn't marinated chicken legs, so we only tasted the seasoning from the skin. Good thing it came with a garlic sauce that was more flavorful, we really couldn't just eat the chicken without dipping every piece into the sauce. Overall, we enjoyed how they have lunch deals which they change occasionaly, they come with creamy soup and a piece of garlic bread. We would come back again to try the other deals and they all sound amazing in Chinese.

Small piece of toast and bowl of soup that comes with some combos!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Great choice for a HK-style cafe in mid-Vancouver - the quality might be a step back from iCafe and Gloucester, but it's not far off with reasonably good food and good service! === 2. FOOD Charbroiled AAA New York Cut ($17.50): 6 ounces of steak done your way with corn and a few carrots, and your choice of rice, spaghetti, or fries. Also included is a small piece of buttered toast, a small bowl of soup (Russian borscht or cream) and a drink of your choice. The toast doesn't compare the larger bun typically found in other HK-style cafes, and the steak is a little salty and peppery...but overall it's a decent dish. Fried Rice Noodle with Shrimp in Scrambled Egg Sauce ($17.50): it's a little small for the price by comparison to others; however, the taste is on point and possibly a little addicting :) === 3. SERVICE The service was pretty good (by all relevant standards), reasonably fast, and quite accommodating for the three year old and his dad at the table! === 4. ENVIRONMENT In the corner of the shopping complex, it's a relatively bright, open, and clean environment. Tables have been taken away in the middle during COVID; a number of booths and tables remain allowing for groups from 2 to 8+ (subject to health guidelines). Wheelchairs and baby strollers have no issue fitting in, and parking is typically available in the expansive shopping complex lot.

So it is located in a strip mall. Checked our vaccine passport, good. Sat down. Food is a weird mix of foods. There is one page of chinese noodles, a section for curry (i am betting it is all yellow curry) and pasta dishes and steak. I came in wanting Mandarin and basically just fried rice or feied noodle dishes. Waited a long time to get our water, we were very thirsty. Ordered a noodle dish and there was plenty to take home after sharing between two people. Asked for chinese chilis and they brought me a dish of Franks Hot sauce? Im not sure how to rate this place. We got barely any service or attention after we ordered.

First day arrived in Vancouver. Is late for lunch and we were hungry. Past by this restaurant and give it a try. Surprising this place is pretty good. I had the curry beef over rice. The beef was very tender and the curry got very good flavor.. Chicken wing fried to perfect, not overcooked and it is still very moist with good flavor. Iced coffee is also good. Service is just ok, but the food is good. And if I happen to be in town again, I would come back and try other stuff..

XO seafood noodle

Went here with my mom today. She got the lobster soup and I got XO seafood noodles. The noodles were some of the best noodles I've ever eaten. I ate more here than I have in a very long time. Get these noodles bc they will change ur life; they put so much scallops , shrimp, squid, octopus in here it will shock you!!!! The lobster soup was excellent too with a giant puff pastry on top

Been here twice and the place never fails me Hong Kong cafe style restaurant but very clean, service is always excellent,A big place and always busy, multi cultural clientele but of coarse mostly are asian and chinese. Not a typical hong-kongers cafe, pricing is a bit more in here but for me you always pay for what you are getting. my recent visit to the place was a dinner, from my friend place in west 42nd i dropped by the place to get a big meal and my cravings really is chinese foods, when i am browsing the menu i decided to try the paella. The server told me the waiting time is almost 20 minutes,i am hungry but this one really appeals on taste buds so i waited. It is worth the wait,it is a delicious sea food paella, very rich flavor with big shrimps ,clams etc,the rice tasted perfect for me.excellent meal for a super hungry like me. The place is located along king Edward with other restaurants and other businesses sharing the big parking lot.Just for information there are two kinds of parking with in...one is 2 hours and the other one is 20 or 30 minutes only so be careful a lot of people got the ticket already. Clean simple place, decors are minimal, sometimes less is better, clean tables and chairs. Service is excellent chinese servers here speak good english....somewhat amazing in vancouver chinese restaurants. they have tv and ,wifi free,Wash room is clean, busy place but the noise level is average, i would say it is best for group and family, good for kids Accept cards and cash definitely i will be visiting again with friends.

Woottikorn C.

This restaurant is the good one of Hong Kong Style cafe.I order 3 courses dinner set that can select clear or creamy soup in the first course, in second course I choose Ribeye Canadian Prime grade medium rare that so good, smoky, crust out side and juicy inside very tender in texture. The other one I choose Pork shop steak that is good too, third course can select banana crepes or black sesame pudding and pairing with milk tea or coffee.

How did I not know about Chinatown BBQ until now?!…read more I've found my new holy grail because this is hands-down the best BBQ duck and BBQ pork I have ever had! We started with a plate of the BBQ Duck, and it was absolute perfection--packed with so much lean, incredibly flavorful meat. Then we ordered the Signature Four Treasures Chef's Plate on Steamed Rice. Talk about a masterpiece! It comes with BBQ Pork, Soy Sauce Chicken, Roasted Pork, and half a Salty Duck Egg. Honestly, every single element was so delicious that I genuinely couldn't pick a favorite. To top off an already amazing meal, their black lychee tea was out of this world. I loved it so much I actually asked if I could buy some to take home! They don't retail it, but the staff was so sweet and told me, "You can drink as much as you like here." Challenge absolutely accepted! The staff kept it perfectly topped up the entire time. Excellent food, wonderful service, and all the cozy, classic vibes. More cha cha cha please! I will definitely be back.

New Town Bakery is one of those Chinatown staples that feels like a rite of passage in Vancouver…read more We headed there for breakfast, excited for pastries and a classic bakery experience, and decided to dine in. Once we sat down and were handed the full menu, though, I had a brief moment of panic. The menu is huuuge and varied, plus none of the items I had mentally planned on ordering were on there. We pivoted and ordered pork siu mai, congee, look fun noodles, and a few steamed buns (they're especially known for those). The congee, noodles, and siu mai were all fine--very standard, not particularly memorable. In fairness, they weren't what I came for in the first place, so that probably shaped my expectations. The real standouts were the pork asado siopao and the chicken deluxe (bola bola). Both have Filipino roots, and the siopao especially brought a comforting sense of familiarity--soft, fluffy, and filled with that sweet-savory pork that felt like home. Those alone made the visit worthwhile. They actually have quite a few other Filipino influenced items like hopia and puto which was surprising. Ironically, it was only after we left that I noticed the sign on the window highlighting their most popular items--exactly what first-timers should probably stick to. I had ordered a few pastries to go with the intention of trying them later... and then completely forgot about them, which I'm still a little sad about. Overall, it was a good visit with a clear lesson learned: go in with a game plan and order the hits. It's a beloved Vancouver institution for a reason, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by--just know it's cash only and do a little pre-order research so you can make the most of it. I'd give it more like a 3.5 vs a 4 star, but I'm already planning a redo focused purely on the classics.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.
