It can be a bit confusing for foreigners as they use a system of "tickets/cards" and turnstiles which is typical of the city. They offer a pay by weight buffet with tons of variety of traditional, regional dishes and an a la carte menu. We did both. I had been dreaming of the creamy shrimp rice dish since I saw it online and it did not disappoint. My husband did the buffet and couldn't stop talking about lamb. Very overrated! They serve buffet-style, and many of the hot plates were picked over and empty, but nobody was there to observe the poor presentation. They do not have beer or alcohol, so...if you want to, you can't drink. I saw people taking food from the buffet with their hands, which, under current circumstances is horrible to imagine is happening. I really don't know why this restaurant is so famous. I really don't know why this restaurant is so famous. Firstly, the restaurant doesn't serve any alcoholic beverages, so if you like a glass of wine or beer with your food, you're out of luck. Second: the food is served from a buffet (although, they do have items that you can request from a menu, the majority of the food is served from the buffet). When I went to eat there, I saw people "sampling" the buffet items with their hands!!! If that wasn't bad enough, the food trays are not being attended, so you may pass trays with food that's been there for quite a while (looking anything but appetizing), or they may be empty. The waitstaff are overworked or uninterested because it was next to impossible to get anyone's attention for a soda.. The only thing I can say in Mangai's favor is that it does look charming--so go and look, then eat some place else. read more

What a great restaurant in an amazing atmosphere with great decor! We've tried the buffet style food and it was hard to choose! So many options, so much food. I think it was the biggest buffet I've ever seen great choice of vegetables, meat, fish, desserts! OMG!! I've been here a couple of times and found it a good way to sample a lot of Brazilian / Paraiba foods. That's the main draw; the number of local dishes is truly impressive, and as a buffet, you can sample all of them. The quality of the dishes varies and it's better to go close to a normal dinner time. I've been here towards closing (10pm) and the food suffers from being out too long towards the end of the night. The desserts are very good and I found the drinks good as well. There is a similar rodizio style restaurant in Recife that I've been to and found the quality was better there. This restaurant is worth going to for two reasons 1) You want to sample many different dishes that are specific to this area of Brazil 2) You want to fill up with a lot of food. Note that while it is a buffet, it is not all you can eat - you will pay by the pound, but with the dollar strong against the Real, it's still a good deal. read more
