Appropriately located on Manhattan Avenue in Santa Fe, not far from the Roundhouse (State Capital) and atop the Santa Fe Jewish Center - Chabad, this will be a part of my regular rotation when visiting friends and clients in Santa Fe. Here is what you need to know: There is parking, ring the door bell and go upstairs. Plenty of signage ensures you get to a very nice accessible second floor. There is dining in the deli or in an adjacent seating area on the second floor. Now that we have the logistics out of the way, here's the low down on the food... I had the opportunity to have lunch with Rabbi Berel who did not steer me wrong. Started with the Matzo Ball Soup. Temperature was spot on. The Matzo Ball, I have nothing to compare it to and didn't really know how to eat it. Good news,the Rabbi was there to help! Break off a small part of the Matzo and mix in the soup... voila, magic! We enjoyed our first visit to Manhattan Avenue Deli, which is located inside the Santa Fe Jewish Center on West Manhattan Avenue. We discovered this restaurant while having lunch one Sunday at the CHOMP Food Hall, which is right next door. Finding "MAD" was a little confusing but adventurous for us. Assuming that the deli was inside the locked and vacant-looking SF Jewish Center building, we called the business and were told to ring the doorbell camera at the front entrance. After being buzzed in, we had the option of taking the stairs or an elevator to the deli on the second floor. We were a little intrigued by the adventure and almost felt that we were on our way to having a clandestine lunch with Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin at U.N.C.L.E. headquarters in New York City (as anyone might think if they ever watched the "Man From Uncle" on TV in the 1960's or reruns). Well, we finally made it to the restaurant and were greeted by a very friendly young woman with a big smile and an even bigger personality who was taking orders from behind a deli case and counter. (Any restaurant or other business would be lucky to have her as an employee!) We're glad we didn't give up and eventually found the deli. Our entire lunch experience was great -- and we especially enjoyed the complimentary Israeli side salad. The deli is only open for lunch and apparently it is closed on Fridays and Saturdays, for Shabbat we presume. so while visiting here at an Airbnb in the hills of Santa Fe, I decided to order out. Well, being from Brooklyn I miss my favorite, which I can't get out here in the west at all which is hot pastrami sandwich. So I found the Manhattan Avenue deli and decided to order on DoorDash. I ordered a pastrami sandwich because they do not offer the option of having it hot. When I called the restaurant they told me hot doesn't make sense because it gets delivered and it won't be hot when it's there. Then I ordered a falafel pita sandwich. And of course that's hot too right and so that was delivered and it was actually warm when I got it. I also asked the young man that answer the phone if I could kindly get a small little side of deli mustard for my knish which I ordered. He told me that they can't really alter DoorDash orders. And I told him I'm not altering anything I'm asking you to put the condiment in the bag. He said "well I'll tell you what I'll try to see what I can do to make that happen for you". lol I also ordered a matzo ball soup which if you look at the photos looks pretty good right? Looks like a good amount of broth and a nice big matzo ball. Well, the math ball was the right size, but look at what they gave it to me and it barely had a half an inch of broth around it. The Babka yeah it looks OK. Also take a peek at the potato knishes the photograph of four small little round knishes so I figured for $6.50. You must get these four little bite-size knishes. Well, nope, you get one can. Now the falafel Peter absolutely worth it a little pricey at $14 but still good. now take a look at my order and you'll see I was more than gracious to the DoorDash driver and even have an eight dollar credit from DoorDash and look at the cost of this miniature pastrami sandwich as you can also look at the photo I posted of mine and look at the photo that they misrepresent on DoorDash. Same goes for the matzo ball soup and same goes for the knish. As much as I hate to do this, I do realize also that supposedly this is kosher food so kosher pastrami definitely cost more than standard, but what I will say is that looking at the color and texture of the pastrami that's not in-house pastrami whatsoever. And how they can get that kind of price for sliced deli meat, even though it's kosher is beyond me. read more

Tasty lunch, we had the corned beef sandwich and the chicken baguette. Looking forward to trying some of the other offerings. But what was really special were the bagels. They are boiled and then frozen in NY and shipped here. They do the final bake here. By far the best bagels in Santa Fe and ABQ. Freiendly staff, and a nice second story space. read more

This was a terrific find in Santa Fe. The food is absolutely delicious and the service could not have been more friendly or hospitable. Whether you keep Kosher or not, having the ability to get a corned beef sandwich freshly made in Santa Fe is a real treat. Horrible experience ordering delivery, missing items and what was left was inedible. Uber Eats agreed that this common with this place and gave me no credit, which is outrageous. A disappointing corned beef sandwich. Originally from Chicago, home to many great delis, I know what a great corned beef sandwich looks and tastes like. . This one had about half the meat of an average sandwich, and it was served on white bread. Service was friendly, though. read more

Since when is an average tasting Reuben sandwich 20.00 and French fries 7.00 in Santa Fe? I couldn't believe how expensive things were and it was just mediocre. I will definitely not be going back and I won't recommend this restaurant. read more

This deli is a great pick if you are looking for a kosher or halal friendly restaurant. First of all the interior is great, it really feels like you are in a small deli in New York. The servers are very friendly and I've never had to wait very long to get my food. It's very refreshing to have a kosher restaurant to go to. They get all of their meat from New York to ensure that it's glatt kosher. And they do not skimp on the portions of meat they fill the sandwiches with. It's a great place to have a good hearty meal and conversation in a pleasant atmosphere. read more

I really wanted to like this establishment. There are just too many things wrong at this place...First off, the menu offers a "hot pastrami sandwich" , and it wasn't hot, in fact it was served cold. My wife and I opted for the 'extra stuffed hot pastrami sandwich', and it struck out on both options. For the extra price, it just isn't worth it. I have been served 'mile high' pastrami sandwiches for a much lower price, and it included potato salad. To add insult to injury, the pastrami is bland and tasteless, as well as is the rye bread. The potato salad is also tasteless....Sorry, but the pastrami sandwich is way overpriced for what you get, and is flavorless. What can I say? read more
