There was a switch in ownership over the summer. The new owners are the same ones who own the Havertown Manhattan Bagel. They have added a glass case to see the bagels, and there are now additional sizes for the coffee such as extra large. They are working on some other upgrades to the business, I believe. I'm still fuming after my visit to [Bagel Shop ] this morning. As a customer, I expect basic respect and courtesy. What I got was a humiliating and infuriating experience. The staff was completely unprofessional and disrespectful: - They rolled their eyes and sighed when I asked for a simple bagel with cream cheese toasted - They yelled at me when I politely asked them to stop talking over my food while they're cooking it. I haven't visited this Manhattan Bagel for over a year bc the previous owner was nasty- minimums for using credit cards, didn't honor coupons, and charged more than other Manhattan Bagel shops - all served with attitude. The woman is rude, the prices are more expensive than other places, the inside has an "I don't give a f*** vibe" but they make a mean bacon egg and cheese (probably the best one around) and their ice coffee is strong and good. Rude woman at the front who walked away when I was mid-sentence because she was annoyed when I didn't answer quickly enough when she asked me a question. Paid $3.89 for a pumpernickel bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese and it has very little cream cheese on it. I love paying for something and having to come home and add more cream cheese. (See pictures) My mate got a bacon, egg, and cheese in everything for $5.49 and had little to no bacon or egg. It was extremely tiny (see pictures). I hate leaving a place feeling like they took my money from me. I feel like I paid for 50% of what I actually got. One egg, one piece of cheese, 2 strips of bacon and a bagel for $5.49? I occasionally come to this Manhattan Bagel. It is consistent as it provides a great bite and a fine atmosphere. The store has a large metal sign on the outside and a fairly small parking lot. However, they have plenty of street parking nearby. The inside the store is fairly small, but has a nice coffee shop feel. They usually have college or high school students inside during the weekends. During the week it can be crowded, but the staff keeps everything moving. The staff is fairly nice, but not great at communication. Another customer had an issue, but I believe that was caused by his joking. I don't really find this place too expensive and they have $1 coffee specials after 9:00 AM. This is a nice little spot and I should remember to come here more. read more

Usually i like coming here for my bagel and coffee. However, today was just not a good experience! I ordered my usual and when I was half way through eating it, I noticed a big black hair in my bagel. I completely lost my appetite and don't think I'll be back anytime soon...the parking is also very difficult and dangerous when coming out of their parking lot onto the busy Montgomery Avenue. I like these bagels better than Delancey street and this place is so close to home. Wish they made Bialys. I have trouble finding them in Philly. Also they run out of the good flavors of bagels quickly. But to me, this place is vital for my Sunday morning ritual- give me the NY Post & Sunday New York Times, coffee and a toasted onion bagel with lox, cream cheese and tomato while watching CBS Sunday morning and I'm happy. The staff is RUDE, they charge an extra $1 PER BAGEL just to cut it open and stick it on a toaster, and they require a minimum of $7 to use a debit card (and there is no sign anywhere warning of such things). And if you tell them you don't have cash, they will simply say "I cannot help you" And scream NEXT in your face. Generally I love manhattan bagel, and the one nearby in Roxborough is wonderful. I frequent this place, usually every weekend. But today they lost my business for good after they harrased me about my service dog. I'm not required to have his vest or identification on my person or the dog and she kept telling me to leave. I told her my experience as to why I have a service dog and only after she realized all the other customers were giving her the evil eye did she agree to serve me. I wanted a plain bagel toasted, they charged me to toast it when it was really just warmed. I ordered two bagels with extra plan cream cheese, they charged me $10 and couldn't even be bothered to spread it on the bagel, they just put a lump of cream cheese in the middle of the bagel and cut it in half. In fact, every time I have ordered a bagel with cream cheese they have shown me that they are incapable or just unwilling to spread cream cheese on a bagel. Today was the last straw I ordered a overpriced breakfast sandwich only to find it in pieces when I unwrapped it. After reassembling the sandwich I was even more disappointed by the taste. This is by far the worst Manhattan bagel I have been too. I was driving through the area and decided to stop by for some breakfast.. I walk in and the two women behind the counter could not have been more miserable. I asked for the frozen mocha drink and they just said "no". Clearly didn't have that there not a problem but more then a no or another suggestion would have been nice.. I got my bacon, egg and cheese and it was terrible. Bagel didn't come toasted per my request, and I found a hair on the bottom of my bagel that I promptly threw away after. I would never review a business ever but this seemed necessary. THE RUDEST, MOST OBNOXIOUS STAFF! The owners act like they could care less about their customers. They may have decent bagels but it's hard to give them any business when they are just so downright rude. Been here twice (thought my first time here was off because the woman was maybe just having an off day) and would never go again. The one in Roxborough is much nicer, cheaper, and friendlier--this one is by my house. The one in narberth is right near my job. The woman that works there (maybe owns it??) is extremely rude. She wouldn't even look over until five minutes had gone by. I had two coupons for free REGULAR size coffee on Mondays--one for me and one for my wife, who was in the car in her pjs. This woman didn't even say hi. I asked for two coffees--she looked down and said I could only get one coffee. When I said its for someone in the car, she said "only one per visit" (roxborough doesn't have a problem with this). Even so, if that's the rule, that's the rule, BUT she doesn't have to be so RUDE. I gave her the coupon and she slammed down a SMALL cup and walked away. SLAMMED!! Wtf. I'm guessing maybe she doesn't like coupons, since I used one the first time too and she was rude.... And they have a $7 card minimum. Great, even just mildly okay customer service, goes a long way..... this place has AWFUL service. I only come on Saturdays because a certain bagel store up on Haverford and City Line is closed. I would never spend $6 on an egg, bagel, two slices of bacon and a slice of American cheese. But on Saturdays it crowded. And what REALLY kills me about this place is that although they have 3 people behind the counter - if the person at the register takes a sandwich order they disappear for 5 minutes to cook it. They'll be 3 people fighting for space over a tiny grill with me waiting 20 minutes to buy two bagels. It's crazy. I took in a coupon for a "free bagel on Friday" and they told me they don't honor coupons at the Narberth location (even though it's printed on the coupon that they do), which I know is factually inaccurate. They just chose not to honor this one. False advertising and trickery to lure neighborhood customers with coupons, make them park on an adjacent street, walk in, then tell them you're not accepting those coupons. Today was my first time going to the narberth store. Thought I'd try it out because it's close to my school but I've always gone to to roxborough one. And I'll only ever go to the roxborough location. I walk in the door at narberth , there's this angry rude lady who doesn't even acknowledge you until you've been standing at the counter for 5+ minutes. It just made me feel so unwelcome. Once she finally came to the register, she had an attitude towards me like I'm annoying her to place an order, and she rolled her eyes at me when i went to get some change when I was paying. Also I noticed all the employees look like they have no idea what they're doing there all on they're phones and eating in the work area and even making food without gloves it's disgusting. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a toasted plain bagel and I didn't check it until after I already left, but not only was it was not toasted and on the wrong bagel, but it had a long curly hair stuck in the cheese and very soggy and completely made me lose my appetite. I got a coffee as well and it was the worst coffee I've ever had in my life I dumped it out. So overall this place deserves 0 stars. I will never come back here again and I will make sure i tell my friends and family to never come here it's absolutely horrible, rude unprofessional staff, and over priced. Okay, so I'm enjoying a bagel and a cup of coffee with a neighbor at Manhattan Bagel in Narberth. It's Sunday morning, early. Cold and blowy outside. Only one other table of the 6 or 7 are taken. After five minutes, the cheerless proprietress approaches. "Are you going to sit here longer? You have to go outside and move your car. My customers need the parking spaces. We don't have many spaces." Summoning courage, I continued to enjoy my breakfast (less, though) without bailing. But that was only the beginning. Next, the "hostess" propped the door open, plunging the dining area into an instant indoor-outdoor experience. Undaunted, I zippered up. But the world's worst business woman wasn't through. She got game. Squeezing behind me, and reaching into a utility closet, she produced the vacuum cleaner, which achieved an unmuted roar as she thrust it across the tile floor with aggressive jabs. And the reason I would ever go back there again is ...? Now she has one more available parking space. read more
