In 2016, this place closed down for renovations, and re-opened last year. It's absolutely beautiful and bright now. For those that were scared like I was six years ago. Here's a run down of how it works. You walk in, and the security guard makes you sign in and you get a number. You're in a waiting room and there videos of STD PSAs. They're hilarious and informative. They're free condoms and lube in the back. You wait for your name to be called and fill out a lil' slip that has basic info. You get called and ushered to another office where they ask your info, id, name, and address. Have your id ready and out for them to verify you're a real person. They still have my information from when I was a teenager! So return visits are A-OK! They'll put you in the system and send you back to the waiting room. If you've sign up for a doctor visit, the wait will be longgggg. If you're doing regular testing the wait will be ok. They make you pee and then do a blood test and optional HIV/AIDs test. You'll be sent back to the room for the result. Then called into another room where you get the results of you HIV test. They ask you some questions like, "Will you kill yourself if you test positive?" and "How much do you drink?" If you say yes or raise any red flags they'll offer you some free counseling services. Then you get your HIV results and a yellow/teal card with information on how to get to the web portal where you will get your results in 1.5-2 weeks. There is also a voicemail phone options available. KEEP THIS CARD. FOREVER. Or keep the information somewhere. If you go back and get tested, it will always be connected to the numbers on the card. I keep mine in my journal at home/saved on my google chrome. Grab some condoms and head home. Treat yaself to a lolly. They offer, the full gambit excerpt HPV and HSV 1/2 test. If you have an active outbreak you can get it check outed via doctor but the regular blood test don't cover those three. The staff is competent but def have to deal with the worst people, so be casual, chat a bit, and polite and they'll warm up to you. A lot of the people who use the service aren't the nicest and/or jerks! I've never had a bad experience with the staff and they're always relieved to talk to someone that treats them like a human. I've been bringing myself and my friends to these clinics forever! Def bring a book/stuff to do. There's often no cellphone talking usage in the waiting rooms.

Not once since I have been coming here for medical issues have I felt that I made the wrong decision regarding my care. I will say that there were times I did not agree or shall I say I was disappointed with the doctor treating me, but that was me just being human. Sometimes we just think doctors can fix everything and have all of the answers and we fail to remember that doctors are just scientists and sometimes just need to deal with the facts of the matter. Now I am sure that not every medical place is perfect but for me I have never had an issue here. As with every doctors office or medical facility you are going to wait. That is the nature of the beast. I would rather wait and have plenty of my time with my doctor than to be pushed thru like a herd of cattle.

My appointment was at 1130 but I wasn't seen till 12:20, no big deal. I'm used to waiting for doctors. I appreciate the nurse who called me she was very polite. Awesome type of care I received. The room I was waiting in was very clean, see photos. If you're worried about other people hearing you speak with your doctor, then this isn't the location for you. Bathroom Alert: The bathroom was super clean. I like how it was cleaned right after I used it. I am happy knowing I won't get an infection from the bathroom. I like the nurse who helped me when I had to draw a urinalysis. She explained everything in detail. She walked me to the bathroom just in case I had to faint. I greatly appreciate her. I appreciate how patient she was with my responses. I didn't get to see my regular doctor, so I needed to see her PA. I appreciated the type of care I received from her. She is amazing and explained that if I needed to go to the hospital it would be my actual doctor who would be doing the procedure. But unfortunately my doctor is on maternity leave. I was expeditiously checked-in upon arrival and seen by my physician within five minutes! Now that's amazing. It's a wonderful thing to not have to sit and wait hours and hours in the physician's waiting room whilst pouring over old tattered magazines on the coffee tables of yore. Plus, with the convenient NYU Medical App on my smartphone: (1.) my appointment was confirmed a week prior to (2.) I was able to fill out those hundred page forms asking for my life's memoirs with my medical history dating back to my grandparents. So convenient in every way! When I went I was asked to give my insurance info. There was no signs anywhere about which insurance they accepted. So I asked the Physicians Assistant who was performing the test if the test was really free. She told me I might get a $50 bill from the lab if they didn't accept my insurance. So I told a volunteer there "I thought this was free." She said it is free, let me get the manager from the lab. "The manager from lab came and told me that I might get a bill, but not to pay it if I get a bill. I know how unpaid medical bills can affect credit so I wasn't going to do that. I said" I don't even want to get a bill". He said "If you don't want to get a bill, then you shouldn't get tested." I left. I later wrote about this incident on Facebook and Whatsapp. A volunteer from this organization convert shamed me said since I am a Jewish convert my word is no good and called me a liar and said I caused a scene there (really professional of her right). I didn't cause a scene I just said I didn't want to recieve a bill and I left. I also saw a volunteer (maybe the same volunteer) from this organization shaming other people who went to this school testing event on Twitter. This organization's workers seem to have no respect for their patients. And they seem to not be following the government's rules about FREE COVID tests. It seems like a scam to me.

When I'm here I do not feel as if everyone is in a rush to accommodate the next appointment. The quality and timeliness of my care and appointments are impressive. He was then brought into a room where his vitals were taken by the nurse. Then he got to see the Dr. who decided he had bronchitis and needed some serious meds. We tried to fill it at the DR pharmacy in the same store, but after waiting 5 minutes and not even being acknowledged we decided to go elsewhere. Overall his experience with the clinic was fine. Then a few weeks later I got sick and decided to try the clinic out. I had around a 15 minutes wait (there were 2 people in front of me), and then I was taken in the room by the nurse. She was very friendly, but maybe a little over the line of professionalism. She made a few crude remarks while we were chatting and it just seemed a little off. Then I went in to see the doctor and she checked me out. She decided to give me a prescription, but said to wait a few days to fill it in case I would get better on my own. Okay, fine. One thing that was a little crazy was the Doctors outfit. Her shirt was SO low cut that I could see totally down it and her bra. Um, no thanks. I don't think this would happen in a real Doctors office, but what can I say. All in all the visit cost me around 50 bucks and probably wasn't worth it. Words are unable to describe her dedication to her job, and more than her job; by seeing the way in which she cares for each of her patients and the way in which she does not rest until resolving any complication, you are able to realize that more than a job, it is her persona. Her professionalism is evident, and her honesty and resilience are something every one of her patients should appreciate. Within this facility, I have met with many pediatric doctors and staff; however, after 18 consecutive years of visiting, I can not help but notice Dr. Paik's outstanding devotion to her vocation and her wholehearted commitment to every single one of her patients' well-being. Even though many state the wait is long, I believe that the wait is worth it when you can see results like the ones that Dr. Paik provides. When I left my appointment that day and thought about my experience with Dr. Ryley Bennett - my first thought was: "wow - he has quite an incredible future ahead of him..."
