This is a gem in Oshkosh. Who would have thought there'll be a great Filipino restaurant in this part of Wisconsin. Parking is not a problem here. Beside the restaurant is a parking lot that becomes free after 6pm. Walked in on an early Wednesday evening. It is spacious with high ceiling. They sell some t-shirts with Filipino designs. Our server Bel was friendly and personable. The ginataang kalabasa and lumpias were not available at early dinner on that day. Nevertheless, food was delicious with generous portions. Manila rice bowl is sisig with green and red bell peppers and sunny side up egg. It can be pork or tofu. Adobo fusion is good. Pork was tender and flavorful. For desserts, the maja did not have a soft jelly consistency that I am used to as it was firm, dense and packed with flavor. Hugely disappointing. We haven't been to Manila in a few years. We remembered it being so good but this visit was a massive let down. We were given menus by the server but not told that anything on there was not available. We spent a good long time deciding what to have only to find out that the Ginataang Kalabasa was not available. This would have been really nice to know when being handed the menus because we spent such a long time deciding and I hadn't thought of a backup. So when it came my turn to order I asked for the Chicken Katsu. My friends had chicken skewers (this person isn't a big eater so didn't want to end up with a massive portion they couldn't eat) and the other person had the tofu curry. The food took forever to come out. We waited at least 45 mins. And the place wasn't busy. We had walked in at maybe 5:15pm so I have no idea why we waited so long. But I didn't mind because I thought we were getting freshly cooked authentic food that would be worth the wait. I was wrong. Finally our food arrived. The chicken katsu was two massive breaded fried pieces of chicken on a yucky looking lettuce leaf with a side dish of Java rice (just yellow rice) and a take out size plastic container of sweet sauce. It was nothing like the menu described 'served over a bed of rice in a bowl'. The chicken was bland and had too much breading and was fatty (from the frying). It just tasted one dimensional - of salt and that was it. The sauce was boring, just tasted of sugar. And the rice was just yellow rice. Didn't have much flavor to it at all. It was not what I was expecting from what I would think of as chicken katsu. The tofu curry was fine. It had lots of vegetables but wasn't as good as we remembered. Again just seemed to be a bit bland and lacked depth. The chicken skewers were abysmal. I realize that they're an appetizer but they were not at all what we expected. They were very small and contained a lot of dark meat, so a lot of fatty pieces. There was no sauce with them. Little flavor. We didn't finish the food because it was just so bland and disappointing. To add insult to injury, the drink menu advertises a happy hour (buy one drink and get one free or something to that effect). We were there on the right day at the right time but apparently the happy hour deal is only available at the bar! What on earth? I remember Manila being a really good restaurant but this was so disappointing that we will not be going back. I don't know what has changed? read more

I felt so classy as I walked in listening to beautiful live music with a cello and baby grand piano. The decor was modern Asian and beautiful. Service was a bit slow at first due to how busy the restaurant was when we walked in, but our waitress was very friendly. Can't believe we had never been here before! We are always looking for Asian cuisines and had only seen the sushi in town. Tried other cuisines in Oshkosh and were disappointing but man this place was delicious. Service was okay. Large venue, clean. There is a bar. It is located by Saturday market. We plan to go back and check that out. Food was delicious. We didn't read all the details and just ordered a whole bunch of plates and realized it all turned out to be fried. Cannot complain about the dishes, sauces were unique as well. Sushi was not the most impressive, will probably leave sushi for a true Japanese restaurant. Excited to see a Filipino restaurant in Osh Kosh of all places! Stopped by on our way to Stevens Point and looking for a taste of home. Ordered lumpia Shanghai, pancit Bihon and pork adobo fusion. Growing up on Filipino food, these flavors are just like Lolo used to make. Service was fine, not fast, but not slow. Luckily we were not in a particular rush. Ambiance was tasteful, had a map of the Philippine islands on the wall, the Filipino flag, etc. If we ever find our way in this area, would return. read more

We stopped here when passing through Oshkosh and were excited to find this unique Filipino restaurant. The interior of the restaurant was nicely decorated. There were many things on the menu we wanted to try. Unfortunately, the service we had was lackluster. There were only a few people on the restaurant and even so it seemed slow and unenthusiastic. Since the menu is different, it would be nice if the servers would take the time to explain the menu and make suggestions. It took a while for the waiter to take our drink order. My husband asked if they had a Filipino beer which they did not. I had a sake-tini. For dinner we started with the lumpia egg rolls. While the flavor was good, they could have been served hotter. We then shared the teriyaki skewers after ordering the Filipino skewers and subsequently told they were out of them. The teriyaki skewers were good. Finally we shared a noodle dish called Bihon which was very tasty and different. What an unexpected surprise in Oshkosh! I don't remember who recommended Manila to us, but I do remember that it was someone at another restaurant in another town in Wisconsin. I was pretty skeptical--delicious Filipino food in Oshkosh? I'm very glad that I put my doubts aside. We ordered the pork lumpia and vegetable lumpia to start. These are more egg roll sized than lumpia sized in my opinion and are a little bland, but the pork sisig made up for them! I want to go back just for the sisig. It was so flavorful and not to greasy, which sometimes happens with sisig. We followed with more pork, the crispy pata. Another well prepared dish, this pile of nicely seasoned pork was a great balance of meat and crispy skin that shattered in your mouth. Next time I'll ask for a little more scallions on the side because I loved the contrasting freshness to the richness of the pork. Not to ignore sweets, we finished with their halo halo, a refreshing end to a big meal. Nearby, a large group of locals were celebrating girls night out with a boodle: we are so excited by the food and the boodle that were coming back to Oshkosh in a month with a larger group! I wish I took a pic but I didn't. Food was great we had calamari, Shanghai lumpia, crab Rangoon, pork belly( kawai lakumi? something I forget the name) and adobo chicken and pork. Oh and I upgraded to garlic rice. Everything was really good. Hope gave great service and was very helpful and attentive. The questions about the wine and liquor selection she got the answers for promptly and without hesitation. I'm very confused as to why it wasn't busier. Maybe the music event going on down town the next street over. I've tried to come here a few times but then realized they are only open for dinner. We were very happy we came here. Pricey but legit. Never would I have thought to find traditional Filipino food in Wisconsin, but it does exist! And it's weirdly paired with a sushi bar? Never seen such a thing! Anyways, I cruised by this spot the other night to grab some dinner and ended up sitting at the bar since I was flying solo. While no San Miguel beers are available, they do have a full bar of local/domestic beer in bottles and on tap, wines, and an assortment of signature cocktails. Bartender, Cameron, was cool to talk to and kill some time. For food, I ended up deciding on the lechon kawali. While it was $17 for the dish (pricey I know), it did come with a generous portion of the most perfectly cooked lechon served with a side of sweet liver sauce (pretty sure it was mang tomas), rice, and traditional pickled vegetables. Definitely had no problem polishing that off as every bite reminded me of home. All in all, while dishes were pricey in general, I'd definitely come thru again for the Filipino food. The pork was perfectly crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The garlic rice was made better by their citrus soy dipping sauce. My husband ordered Pancit Sotanghon with chicken as well as the Offbeat Sushi roll. The Pancit had much more steamed vegetables than chicken, but he enjoyed it. The sushi was good, but nothing to write home about. The Halo-Halo was not what I was expecting. The candied tropical fruit was hard and artificial tasting. I would recommend trying the lava cake or turon instead. Our friends had recommended the lava cake, but it required a 30 minute prep time. Our waitress recommended next time ordering dessert when the entrees are brought out. Great service, but expect a little bit of a wait for food to be brought as it's prepared to order. Decided to try this place for an early dinner after hearing good things about it from a friend. Overall it was a pretty okay place. First the food. Between the two of us, we ordered the steamed gyoza, steak robata, spicy spider roll and salmon nigiri. The gyoza was too slimy, it reminded me of reheated frozen dumplings. There was also too much wrapper for my taste. The steak and sushi was okay, but I've had better. For desert I decided to try the flan which was good. Now onto the rest, the ambience while colorful didn't seem very welcoming or comfortable. While the restaurant didn't seem very busy, the service was very slow. We had to wait for almost 15 min after the check was dropped off for her to come and take our card. While the food was okay, it was extremely pricey for the quality. My fiance and I went last night, and the let down was unexpected. Service: Our service was just as bad if not worse than the first time, our waitress was unattentive and seemed like she was out of breath every time she came to our table. There were 4 servers that I could see and about 6 to 8 tables (most which were done eating by the time we had arrived). Maybe she was helping out with to-go orders? The entree I had included a high level of spiciness, which is a hint to all servers out there, make sure I have water. My water glass was empty 2 minutes after we were served our entrees and was not refilled until she gave us the check, which she gave us before we were done eating (rude). She never offered to refill our wine glasses either (which were basically empty when she delivered our entrees). Food: I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, but all of my sushi was made with 2 sheets of nori for one maki roll so they fell apart. I've never seen sushi assembled this way (I've watched youtube videos and been to a class in green bay). My appetizer spring roll was not edible without using utensils. I just was very unimpressed with the food. My fiance had chicken and it was pink in the middle on one of the pieces and the skin was rubbery and soft. This is our go to Resto when we go to Oshkosh for several years now. We never had a dish that we didn't like when dining at this place. I think the price is very reasonable for a legit Filipino dish. We love their Lechon Kawali, Crispy Pata, Lumpiang Shanghai and Sisig. Pretty much love everything we've had. We brought my brother and sister in law a couple of weeks back and they were so impressed with the food, that they plan of visiting again next month once their son comes for a visit from California. We normally do lunch as we live in Green Bay, and we always get great servers. I can't wait to visit them again soon read more

Upscale Haute fusion restaurant of Filipino, Japanese and Chinese Cuisine. I went here by chance when a coworker friend invited me to the air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. What I find unusual is that there is that the clients dining are Not Filipino yet the owner and Cooks are Pinoy Filipino since Oshkosh Wisconsin is not a town I would have thought would have a Asian restaurant with Filipino Cuisine included. I would think the clientele would think of Filipino food as too exotic. Anyways I was curious to try it and it was surprisingly delicious . I ordered a combination of Filipino and Japanese entrees because I craving for certain foods of Asian ethnic Cuisine and wanted to taste how bad or how good it was. All in all, it was phenomenally delicious! I ordered miso soup to start off with while my friend who is an older Pinoy ordered traditional Filipino food all the way. He ordered a familiar Filipino soup called "molo" soup which is similar to Chinese won ton but they added ground beef wrapped inside the Wong ton. Both soups look great in presentation and my miso soup was tasty. My next appetizer order I got was nigari salmon sushi which was very fresh and delicious. They used wild caught Pacific salmon which was very fresh and delicious. The main courses we ate was yummy and good. I had Filipino curry which was so so delicious with fresh sauteed vegetables and tumaric rice instead of traditional white rice. My friend had pancit Canton which also look tasty to eat. I ended my meal with a unusual twist of Filipino leche flan in which they add another dessert of vanilla ice cream making it flan ala mode. Very good and my kind of refreshing sweetness to end the course. All in all I had a great time. The food was satisfying by taste, portion and price. They even had musical entertainment of a guitarists and a person playing harmonica which went well the elegant ambiance. Thank goodness dressing up formal was not a requirement. Just casual proper. I would definitely come here if by chance I attended another air show or if I am passing along the way to Oshkosh when I have a craving. Hope this restaurant keeps up with what they have since it was surprisingly good in the Heartland of America out of all places to find great Asian fusion with Filipino cuisine as being a part of it! read more

Nothing has changed. So painful to watch such an opportunity be wasted. Someone needs to manage the restaurant for the owners since they clearly cannot get a handle on how to do it themselves. I really hate to give Manila a negative review. We ate here a couple of years ago and the food was great, hence the second star. Tonight (a Saturday night), however, we came in for dinner (a party of 5 with a reservation). They seated us immediately and then nothing. After twenty minutes and no one had even come to bring us water or take our drink order, my wife politely went over to the hostess and mentioned this. The hostess replied "oh" and wandered off. In the meantime, the table behind us received a couple of appetizers they didn't order. We waited another ten minutes without anyone coming to our table and decided we had to leave. My mother-in-law told the two people standing at the hostess station that we were leaving and only got a vapid smile in response. There were at least four servers working and the place was not even half full. It was just a really bizzare experience. I have no idea who was running the front of the house, but it's always sad when a lack of service like this gets in the way of what would likely have been a great meal. read more

This used to be our favorite place but after last night, we decided we will not be returning. The service was very slow for 4 occupied tables and drinks took 20 minutes to get. I ordered shrimp chop suey and it literally came out as soggy garlic gravy soup without shrimp. When I asked the waitress where the shrimp was, she said, "oh I didn't hear you say shrimp so you won't be charged for it." Though we all heard her repeat back the order when we placed them and seen she wrote it down. I get that mess ups happen but don't lie & play dumb to cover yourself. I was skeptical when I saw the 3.5 star rating, but decided to give it a try. After Dinning there it was very apparent why that is their rating. They were clearly understaffed. We had a 6pm reservation and our friends were running behind So we sat at the bar for a pre dinner drink. The women behind the bar took my drink order and said the other woman would be over to make our drinks (she was taking a food order at a table in dinning room. I thought it was strange to have someone behind the bar taking drink orders, but not actually make the drinks. After about 30 mins our friends arrived , they ordered a drink and the same took place, one woman takes drink order and the other makes it. This time however it took over 20 mins to get the drink. So after 50 min at the bar and only getting two drinks we decided to sit at the table. This time we opted to just order a bottle of wine, and placed our order almost immediately after sitting. About 15 mins to receive the first bottle of wine and about 45 mins to receive most of our food. I will give credit that the presentation of the food was amazing. Sushi was mediocre (they served the unagi ice cold), and the curry liked flavor. After an hour of being seated our tuna tartare arrived and was a total disappointment, tasted like canned chicken of the sea tuna (and looked just like it). It should also be noted that their were only 4 other tables (2 of them already had their food) in restaurant with people at them. I could not believe that food ticket time was 45mins- 1 hour especially because most of our food was sushi. I saw a huge billboard on the highway advertising Manila on my way to work. I have been craving Pinoy food so I was very excited to try it out. The place itself is in a lovely building, the exterior is especially impressive. Granted, I am partial to historic structures but I really liked the actual appearance of the place. The decor inside was not especially "filipino" but more the clean japanese inspired lines (which I liked). There were no tchotchkes pretending to add to the aesthetics of the place (thank goodness!) and it was all very simple and tasteful. Now for the food. This review was based on two visits to the restaurant. I ordered almost the exact same thing. Lechon kawali (which is pork belly), lumpia (like an egg roll), sinigang for the soup, chicken yakitori and leche flan for dessert. On my first visit, the lechon kawali was DELICIOUS. It was crunchy on the outside, and moist and gooey on the inside. Paired with white rice and the dipping sauce, it was exactly how I wanted it and reminded me so much of home. We had soda in the old Coke bottles too which of course was the perfect for this sinful dish. My son loved the lumpia and chicken and ordered three of them. The sinigang wasn't as sour as I would like and was just "ok" at this point. Service was friendly, although not really as efficient as it could be. Second visit was today (Saturday evening). There was a MUCH longer wait since it was a weekend and there was a big party of 15 right before us. We arrived right at opening for dinner and the place was almost full. The wait was long. Even a glass of water took a long time to arrive. Also, a lady there was fussing over the big party (which is understandable) and just handed us menus and told us to seat ourselves while they ushered other patrons to their seats. Our waiter was apologetic and very nice, but they got part of our order wrong. We didn't get charged for the extra item that we didn't order though. The lechon kawali was NOT as good as before. It wasn't crunchy at all but it was sort of semi-rubbery. The sinigang broth howevery was so much more delicious than the first time. I think the lumpia was the same. We also ordered mixed and my family was pretty happy with that. The coffee was VERY good. Strong and yum. I am not sure if it's local coffee or Batangas coffee but we loved it. Overall, I think that if they staffed better during the weekend and have a bit more consistency with the food quality, it could very well be a pretty good restaurant for the area. I really wanted to like the place given the lack of food diversity in Oshkosh. The atmosphere and staff were nice start, specious and friendly. I did find that the food tasted good with something unique to offer. I do give them credit for doing so. I can't leave anything more than a star for the review because of a very simple dish. Eggroll! A simple eggroll. An eggroll with spoiled filling that just left more than a bad taste in the mouth. Fancy decor, really heavy menu booklet, friendly staff, all really don't matter when they start you off with spoiled food. They are just flusing all their efforts down the toilet. Came for a team dinner a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant was super accommodating as I made a reservation for 30 people. The food was tasty! My coworker and I shared a sushi boat and a variety of sashimi. We also got some fresh rolls, crab rangoons, tuna tartare, and some other apps. The sushi was fresh and def the best I've had in Oshkosh to date. The resto also has good vegetarian options. The waitstaff was accommodating and attentive and everything came out timely with such a large group. Will def come again to try the other menu items :) read more
