Still, as a place for a beer it isn't too bad, even though the beer selection isn't particularly huge.

So...with a genuinely tired looking pub what makes it good..... well that would be the prices! $5 for all aussie pints and $6 for all imperial is an excellent offer. Also on offer is a range of different shots such as Jager Bombs, Jam Donuts and Skittle Bombs...which is a little strange for country hotel. Unfortunately we never got to eat here as we went on Pageant day and didn't think i would have to book - turns out i was wrong so the limited dining area filled very quickly. However the food i witnessed look going to people looks to be good serves of everything and i will be head back one day to try! When i get to try the food it may up the stars...but for a place to drink there is better available in Lobethal if you dont mind paying a little more!

The rooms are also extremely spacious and the mattresses are very comfortable. The bathrooms could probably use a window that can be opened and a fan too but the air con. for the room is extremely effective. If snacks are wanted then you won't be able pay for ones that are in your fridge or cupboard cause there aren't any there. When I stayed we walked down the road to a fish and chips restaurant that started with something like ... JJJ's .... it was extremely delicious and they have basically EVERYTHING in there that you could want. There is also a few games and lots of 80s memorabilia that looks fantastic.

The boat was spacious with two indoor living areas as well as the sun-deck on the top. What sets these boats apart from the others are the fact the spa uses clean, not river water and the generator is super quiet. Best of all there is a massive bank of batteries which means the generator isn't running all the time. Very well equipped boat with everything you could possible need.

We arrived at the cottage with trepidation (as we have had bad experiences in the past) Form the outside OK but oh boy wait till you get inside! The cottage was beautiful, rooms delightful, beds so comfy could have stayed there all day, furnishings beautiful. Bathroom, only one but again spacious fantastic large shower, underfloor heating and the range and amount of toiletries and towels etc amazing definetly above and beyond any thing we have ever experienced. And then the kitchen, the food for breakfast was awesome, as well as fruit, chocolates and wine again above and beyond! The lounge with the beautiful fire and the amazing magazines. I have run out of words I need more stars, 5 don't do this justice! The town itself is pretty cool, go down for a walk by the river! We thought being out of the Barossa might be too far but it was fine. I would like to keep this cottage a secret because once this gets out it will be booked for months in advance!

After deciding from the menu and Specials Board, we trooped to the bar to place our orders for drinks and food. Food came out in a timely manner, and was all served together - kudos to the kitchen for getting this small, but important point right. A couple of people had the garlic prawns, I chose the Kassler plate. Other dishes included a vegetarian lasagne and schnitzels. Presentation was rather old-fashioned, but that's okay, as long as the food quality is there. And....it was! Everyone praised their meals. The portion size was just right, some on the generous side like mine. Having said that, I had one issue, which was how salty my meal was. The horseradish and sauerkraut did little to balance. I did drink a fair bit of water while eating my meal. For what it is, I think it pumps out decent pub fare. Happy to stop in again if I ever come this way.

Beautiful hand carved wooden furniture all over the property, original artworks on the walls, several local antique items decorating the outdoors, excellent black out curtains to allow for a good sleep-in, quiet location, hospitable staff who catered to our every need and who went above and beyond with a smile. The attention to detail was astounding, as were the additions. Soft close drawers/cupboards/bins, make up remover towels, extendable magnifying mirror on the bathroom wall, great coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable. Air con/heating is very efficient. Huge smart tv facing the bed. Everything you will need is here. Well stocked kitchenette. I cannot fault this place and will be recommending to all my travelling friends. It's gorgeous, and cute... still, the rooms are spacious. 10/10!

This pub actually does have quite a bit of charm, and the service is quite good as well. It is charming, relaxing, and there are even a couple of nice beers on tap as well. If there is one thing that did put me off with regard to this place and that is that the kitchen is only open at certain times, but that sort of is to be expected.

After a wait I informed the staff at the order counter. They said sorry about that, we'll try and do better next time. I didn't get my prawns or get compensated. VERY POOR
