I was here only once (long drive from home) but the flavor-never forgotten, and the seafood+Mexican choices were unique, and the bit that I had makes me beg for more! Now that I bookmarked this location, it's time for a fun road trip!! I know I waited about an hour for our dinner, but the margaritas were fantastic and our appetizer came out quickly. The place was so packed we waited to be seated, and we're actually offered a little corner table so we wouldn't have to wait as long. It took a little wait (about ten min) to get our first service, I think only because we were hidden in the corner on a table That normally is unused. We stopped here for lunch while out shopping on a Sunday. It was our first visit and it had been recommended by friends. I was not expecting so much seafood on the menu. We ordered and our food was brought out quickly. The chips and salsa were delicious. The salsa tasted very similar to my homemade salsa. My paramour's only complaint was that it could have used a little more salt. The service was polite and quick. The atmosphere is awesome. It is not the average Americanized Mexican restaurant. We will be back again as the price point leaves it for special occasions for us. read more

Soooo, you cannot bring chips or drinks to the table unless you order your entrée FIRST?? Chips were stale, cold, unsalted. My entrée was tasty, however the rice/beans tasted like they were straight from a can. I asked for a large glass of water, and was brought a small plastic cup. I asked again for a large glass of water and I was brought a LARGE margarita glass full of water. Seriously?? I ordered a desert to go (I asked for a cheesecake, or cake).....did not know the desert the waiter brought me was ICE CREAM and it melted in my car, so that was a waste of money.....and a lovely time cleaning my car. Margaritas are good but very strong. Ordered a shredded beef chimichanga. It had several chunks of fat in it and a huge amount of black beans. The beans were not listed as an ingredient on the menu. Very disappointed in the food quality. If I return it will be for the margaritas. read more

If you expect to get lettuce, cheese, sour cream,and tomato for your fajitas......you do not. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and they charged me 3.75 for the "extras" that I wanted. My total bill was 27.95 for fajitas and a pop. Ridiculous!! Also, the three shrimp were not deveined and still had the tails on them. Very strange restaurant with high prices. read more

The food tasted like baby food and when I told the waitress and manager they were very rude. The food has definitely gone down hill in the last few years. I ordered a vegetable quesadilla and they put soggy frozen broccoli inside! Yuck! My four year old could make a better quesadilla. What's worse is the manager is rude. To put my review in context - I lived in Mexico for a while and ate good food there. Had Mexican seafood in Veracruz. I worked as head chef in a from scratch Mexican restaurant in Wisconsin. So I know my Mexican food pretty well. The good stuff about Manny's - It is big, clean, the music is appropriate and not too loud, the staff are well trained, courteous, efficient. In fact, I liked just about everything but the food. A little pricey for Mexican, but average for seafood. If you think of Manny's as a seafood restaurant with a Mexican theme it might seem ok. But as for Mexican I cannot recommend it. None of the food had any flavor, good or bad, to put it bluntly. The Mahi Mahi tacos, recommended, just didn't do it. Blackened fish usually hits you right in the taste buds but there was nothing there. Not even salt. The pico de gallo on the taco, usually a citrusy and spicy accent, had nothing. I'm pretty sure they used bell peppers instead of jalapenos. Our table salsa was bland. We asked for a hotter salsa and we got what appeared to be tomato sauce that was very spicy with habanero. Not flavorful, just hot. The rice and beans - flavorless. The beans are not refried or anything, just a little bowl of beans on the plate. No onion, no garlic, no cumin, no lard, no nothing, just beans with a little salt. The rice should be made with a rich stock, tomato, seasoning, often some vegetables like peas, corn, onion. We had orange rice. Even the tortillas had literally no taste. I put ranch dressing (which I asked for on the side because it sounded like a bad idea) on the taco just to have an actual flavor. There were three of us with three different fish, and all agreed. The only acceptable part of the meal was the corn chips. They were warm and crispy. The joint was busy and they have their fans. I know Mexican food in Wisconsin is very different than just a few hours away in Chicago, for example, where the large Mexican population ensures that you can find really good authentic Mexican food pretty easily. In Wisconsin the average diner expects something more Americanized. Even so, Manny's was a big disappointment. read more

The short review: Extremely poor service but the food was good. The long review: I ate dinner here with some colleagues on a Thursday evening. We were entertaining a candidate and several people spoke highly of Manny's. Trouble began soon after we were seated and waiting for two others to arrive. We were given menus and drinks but then forgotten about for 15 minutes. As we were waiting for two more people this was not a big problem, but after they arrived the wait continued. We ended up having to ask for the chips and salsa to be brought and for our water to be refilled. Our order was eventually taken and then the real wait began. After 30 minutes a large party, who arrived after us, began to receive their orders. Another 20 minutes went by but no one checked on us, refilled our waters, or paid any attention to us. After over an hour of waiting our food was brought out without explanation. My own meal had not been made as I requested but I was hesitant to send anything back. Our drinks still went unfilled and we had to flag down someone to get more water. Getting the check even took 10 minutes. Overall, I was dissatisfied and unimpressed with the service. At nearly $20 for most meals, I expected better. When we bring more candidates I will strongly voice my opposition to Manny's as it left us in an awkward position and certainly did not provide the hospitality we wanted to extend. read more

Meh. We used to live in the area. Manny's was a favorite. Recently stopped when visiting. Menu has shifted from Mexican to Mexican *seafood*. Decor is nice. Service was marginal. Water glasses sat empty until asked (2-3x). When filling waters, they were overfilled onto the table or spilled on about 3-4 glasses....walked away to let us mop up the mess with our napkins - not even an 'oops, sorry about that'. Certainly didn't leave us feeling 'cared for'. Food was hit and miss. Fish tacos were one bright spot. The chicken on the Caesar salad was thin, over-cooked and covered in dry spice powder. Prices were high for what you get...pretty tough to find much under $22. No free chips and salsa while you wait...those are extra too. Total of $14 for 2 small (I mean *small*!) baskets of chips, salsa and guacamole (we knew the guacamole would be extra...but $10 for a cup with three chips stuck in the sides?!). A final negative for me is that they've added the ubiquitous TVs which turns upscale restaurant atmosphere into a casual sports bar with really expensive food. Rather than having a fun meal together everyone gets distracted by the screens. La Crosse has much better options. We'll remember what Manny's was....but won't be back. read more

First time visiting Manny's. Very friendly atmosphere along with good music. The menu is very attractive in terms of variety. From the food, drinks, ambiance, and service I was greatly impressed especially on how fast the food was brought out. We went as a group of five for brunch....The service was terrific and we were seated immediately....One of our group was late so we had some of their signature drinks..all delicious,,the server explained all the dishes and we all ordered something different...the food was all delicious and we raved about it to each other....We will definitely go back to Manny's soon. read more

We arrived to restaurant around 8pm and had 12 in our group. They set us at our table in less than 5 minutes - the restaurant was not very busy and had a lot of empty tables. The table was set up in a "T" shape so it was very awkward. Our waitress was very pleasant and she took our drink orders almost immediately. It took about 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive and then about another 15 minutes for our waitress to come back to take our order. She was very knowledgable of the menu and the large group didn't seem to effect her. Her service skills was very good and I did not feel neglected at all. Food was good but it took almost an hour to get, the kitchen also forgot to make one of our orders. Seems kitchen and bar slowed down the service to a crawl. Front of house did a Great Job and back of the house did a terrible job. Manny's Mexican Cocina is average at best. read more

I work a lot in the Lacrosse area and Mannys is a go to for good seafood. The Salmon and Swordfish are always a good choice. The service is good, although it seems to get slow once in a while for no reason. The interior is nice and always clean. My only drawback for the place is the higher prices. For freshly delivered fish you can expect to pay a premium. read more

Fantastic - searched for a good Mexican restaurant and only found small bar/taco shops in La Crosse - this place was 15 minutes from downtown and worth every minute. What a disappointment. We went just for apps and margaritas. We used to got to Mannys biweekly but have slowly but surely reduced our time there. Interestingly, the chips were stale, salsa was ok but not fresh, avocado was weird...huge chunks of onion, and shrimp quesadilla was horrible!!! Love going here, quality on staff and food has gone down a little bit since its first few years, i'll go back, excited when i go there, but it can take forever to get in, get food and get out. Some food items are more expensive than what they are worth, but there are some gems at great prices; their lunch specials are great, and they will bring great chips around while you wait. read more
