This random tiny café is located next to a subway and gas station. We were pretty excited to see an Iraqi Café. The inside was small with a few places to sit and games to play if you want to hang out. The decor was very clean and bright. Very similar to other trendy coffee shops with clean white tiles. They had some desserts, teas, and coffee options on the menu. We ordered the baklava and Dubai chocolate latte. For a small shop with a few customers it took a bit longer than I expected and from my observation they seem new to coffee making. That worried me. The baklava was delicious. I was a bit hesitant to try this place after seeing how small it is inside, but we quickly found a seat and saw some tables opening up every few minutes which was nice. The service was great. The worker was helpful and answered our questions regarding their desserts & coffees. I will say my coffee was a bit stronger than what I usually go for, but it was still amazing! My brother got the chai and he liked it. The cheesecake came with a side of melted chocolate that you pour over it, giving you the famous and viral cheesecake look from Turkey. I'm starting to see lots of new Arabic coffee shops around the area. Some just ok, some just do very well with creativity and just having good products. This is one of the places I stumbled upon while wanting some tea and desserts in the area. It's a tiny little shop but hold its charm. Everyone working was extremely nice and friendly. I had to try the signature Iraqi Tea since it's an Iraqi tea house. That along with the Dubai chocolate cheesecake sounded amazing... and it was. The tea like most teas from that region are black tea with hints of the region itself. This is usually had with sugar but I didn't add any since I was having it with the cheesecake. And speaking of cheesecake, it was delicious. The textures, the bold and rich flavors all went perfectly with the tea. Lastly the presentation which I believe always matters. My friends and I visited this location for the first time and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I initially ordered an iced matcha, but it was extremely milky and the matcha powder did not appear to be authentic or high quality. The flavor was off and not what you would expect from a proper matcha drink. I politely brought it to the staff's attention, and they offered to substitute it with a hot karak tea instead. Unfortunately, that drink was also not enjoyable. I can tell that there is more training needed on making the drinks because they recently opened, but the most that could've been done was to validate the customers concerns rather than dismiss and blame it on the "milk" being the reason why the drinks taste the way they do. For someone who's been drinking Karak and matcha almost every day it's definitely noticeable when your drink doesn't taste right. When I went back to kindly explain the situation and see if there was anything that could be done, the response I received was very unwelcoming. One of the staff members responded with attitude and said, "Again? We can't make another drink," which felt dismissive rather than helpful. I approached the situation respectfully and even apologized for not liking the drinks, yet the interaction still felt uncomfortable. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was the behavior that followed. The employees began talking among themselves and gossiping about the situation while we were still present. At one point, they even came back and removed the matcha drinks from our table in a way that felt petty and unnecessary, especially considering the drinks were already being discarded anyway. It gave the impression that the focus was more on making a point than on providing good service or resolving the issue for the customer. They also saw us walk up and leave and didn't bother to see what was the reason, instead they went to the back of the kitchen and started to talk among each other and look over at my group like gossiping teens. Afterwards they went over to the table where I left the drink at and took a picture of it. I can tell the way the business operates is not on customer service and quality, it works on up charging and under-serving. As someone who has worked in both customer service and food service, I completely understand that not every customer will love every drink. However, professionalism and hospitality should always remain the priority. The way this situation was handled came across as dismissive, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. For a location charging around $10 per drink and adding a surcharge for matcha (which I wasn't informed of), I would expect better quality ingredients and a more customer focused approach. Unfortunately, the overall experience felt cheap and inattentive rather than welcoming. I hope management considers providing additional training for staff both in drink preparation and customer service so future guests have a more positive experience. read more
