This cute two-story cafe has a lot to offer not just for the tummy but for the eyes and body, too. The lower level seating offers cozy leather chairs for lounging in an intimate setting, the counter level has tall top tables for a quick coffee break and the second story loft is a brighter, casual dining experience. Though the cafe counter is small, they have a lot to offer. They have an extensive breakfast menu (served all day on weekends and until 2pm on weekdays) that ranges from muesli and banana loaves to eggs benedict and crepes. Missed the breakfast menu? Never fear, lunch is just as appetizing. They have a whole range of options for the pickiest of people including vegetarian options (like the risotto or the fritters). I had the Toasted Ciabatta Sandwich which allows you to choose 3/6 options: sundried tomato, chorizo, ham off the bone, swiss cheese, sheep cheese and caramalized onions. The cinnamon bun/scroll is HEAVENLY: think soft, pillowy, buttery layered brioche swirled with sugary, cinnamony deliciousness. I recommend getting up early in the morning to get one of those babies nice and hot out of the oven - I did and I did not regret it. The service was impeccable: I told the guy behind the counter that I was in a bit of a hurry and the food was brought to the table in less than 10 minutes. Everyone including all the waiters I chatted with were lovely. Will definitely come back when/if I am back!

There is usually a busy atmosphere in there these days as it's become a deservedly popular spot to meet friends and colleagues for coffee or lunch. The brunch menu is good, with enough vegetarian options, and the cooks will also make non-meat versions on request, which is great. The cabinet is full of interesting salads and nice cakes too! Service is prompt and if you don't like your coffee they will remake it without being grumpy about it - as real baristas should. Unfortunately, the coffee does not appear to be Fair Trade - it would be great if this could be looked at, as then the Good Oil would deserve a 5 star rating.
