Good hotel in Munich. Service was friendly and our room was comfortable. The street where the hotel was is lined with a million other hotels and feels safe. Once when you leave it starts to feel a bit unsafe day and night and we even saw something going on with a bunch of police just a street over. Kurz nach dem Aufenthalt entwickelte ich eine schwere Skabies (Krätze), ärztlich bestätigt. Seitdem breitet sich der Befall weiter aus - nicht nur auf meinem Körper, sondern auch in meiner Wohnung. Die Haut ist stark gereizt, juckt und weist teilweise blaue Flecken auf. Die Behandlung ist sehr belastend und teuer. Während meines 8-tägigen Aufenthalts habe ich mehrmals darum gebeten, die Bettwäsche zu wechseln - dies wurde nur einmal getan, und nur nachdem die Rezeption ausdrücklich zugestimmt hat. Das Zimmer war insgesamt sehr schmutzig. Ich erwarte dringend, dass das Hotel seine Hygienestandards überprüft und Gäste vor solchen Risiken schützt. read more

Worst service in a hotel I've ever experienced traveling from front desk staff, they don't even try to be helpful or accommodating. We asked three questions throughout our four night stay and each time we were met with scoffing, eye rolling, and rude remarks. The cleaning staff replaced towels but never replaced any clean washcloths for showering. Buffet breakfast was good and service was good there by Alaadin. The hotel claims on Trip Advisor and their website to have laundry but they do not. The hotel lobby lacked ambiance, fireplace wasn't ever on in December and no bar service or complimentary drinks ever offered. The hotel website and Trip Advisor also state the hotel rooms have Air Conditioning and heating, however when we inquired why ours didn't work we were told by the front desk manager "it's Germany, we don't use it here", in late December when low is 30 degrees F!!!! I'm so ready to leave this hotel and would never recommend it. Hotel is in a sketchy area of town too. I would have left sooner but they precharged me and did t even want the hassle of moving hotels after long days of touring the city. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. read more

Booked a non refundable reservation in 2019 for mid June of this year 2020 , due to covid 19, flights to the EU/Germany are not currently possible. In light of that fact, I contacted the property hoping for a refund given the circumstances but was denied. I then asked to reschedule the reservation for the following year and was told no! Can not imagine how or why anyone would support such a business. They have a careless attitude; a total disregard for customer service, over an issue for which I had no control, it speaks volumes. I believe this is now Leonardo hotels property. Great location by the train station, but a very limited hotel. The rooms were tiny, the pillows the worst, and unfriendly front desk. For a little more you get much better facilities next door. Skip this Leonardo, the London ones are better. read more

The location was centrally located for our stay in Munich. Room, breakfast, cleanliness was all good. As others said, the area is not the best, but never did I feel unsafe, even at night (unlike my stay in Frankfurt). Why 3 stars? They copy your passport at check in. This is mandatory. I am hyper sensitive to my personal info and was not happy about this at all, to say the least. The front desk said it was "a German law and there were no exceptions." Bullsh*t. The law says they have to check the id of guests, but never does it say photocopy of ID. I stayed at 6 other hotels on this trip and not one other asked to copy my ID. Because they precharged us and it was the middle of Oktoberfest, we had no reasonable option but to comply. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights recently (and then our last night before leaving Munich) and couldn't have been happier with our choice! The Marc Munchen delivers in all ways possible: sleek, hip hotel rooms, extraordinary breakfast (seriously just the best!), and friendly staff! We booked directly through the hotel website and received a complimentary drink in the bar/lobby area which was such a nice touch and great to hang out there prior to going to dinner. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, quiet, and maintained daily to perfection. Loved the water station in the lobby to refill water bottles daily...great idea for thirsty travelers! Also, the area is perfectly located near the train station for quick access to other cities, public transit, etc. Some have said the area is sketchy, but we didn't find it that way and were out early in the morning and late at night. It's a city locale not the tourist area. Lots of great restaurants nearby makes it perfect for dinner. Also the supermarket at the end of the street is great for room snacks and wine! We had a great experience at this hotel. We arrived very early in the morning from the US, around 9am, and the front desk was very accommodating and let the housekeeping staff know and they very quickly prepared our room while we waited in the nice lobby for about 20 minutes. They are a quick walk from the train station, so it wasn't troublesome to walk with our suitcases. They are about a 15-20 min walk from Marienplatz. They have a lot of good restaurants nearby, or a quick trip on the train. They also have a very delicious breakfast buffet. read more

LOVED this hotel for what we wanted. First, location. Some people are put off by hotels right around the major train station in town. Personally I don't feel like it's a minus. I love the hustle and bustle of major cities and train stations; there's an endless array of food joints, Doner kebab stands, pizza places, small bars, shops and diverse people wandering around this area near the Hauptbanhof. You can get to anywhere in Munich from this location. Even better, the Marienplatz and Oktoberfest are the just a short walk away. The rooms are clean, though on the small side. Rather no-frills, although the bathrooms are a touch upscale with rainshowers and modernly-styled toilets and vanities. The breakfast is a joy! What a wonderful spread of granola, yogurt, muesli, pastries, eggs, sausages, cold cuts, fresh cheese, green juice, made-to-order omelettes, pancakes...the list goes on. All included in the price of the room. Wonderful value. I looked forward to this lovely breakfast everyday. Staff very friendly. Lobby bar empty and somewhat forced. The other review on this hotel said that it was outdated but I found it to feel very fresh and modern. Maybe it has been redone since 2008.. We stayed here in night on what would be Thanksgiving eve in the states:-) From the moment we stepped into the lobby we felt welcome and were very impressed with the clean, sleek yet warm decor! I really enjoyed this hotel, felt it was a excellent value and would stay here again! Staff: Excellent! The staff was very friendly and spoke very good English and politely put up with my very very bad broken German:-) Rooms: We stayed in room 210. The hotel and rooms are extremely clean and very smartly appointed. The bathroom amenities are hand soap, hand lotion, bath soap, mouth wash, shower cap, q-tips and a blow dryer. Our blow dryer did not work but I brought one with us to will inform the staff when we leave. I know if I had asked they would have fixed it right away. The room I found to be a little too warm and was unable to get it to cool down during the night until I opened a window. The shower has a wonderful rain shower head or hand held. The water pressure is good and the temperature was ok. Amenities: There is free wifi for every room for up to four devices! This is a wonderful plus as in the states they nickel and dime you for stuff like this. We received two free drinks cards for booking the hotel room online. The breakfast was outstanding! I will add pictures as there is no way to explain the free buffet that comes with your stay. There was 10-15 different kinds of bread/rolls, cereals, fruit, meats, cheese, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausages, eggs, made to order omelettes and/or eggs, etc. Not only was there a large food offering but they food was fresh and delicious! Location: Excellent! Near main train station and easy 10 blocks walk to downtown Munich. We walked back from downtown to the hotel on a Thursday night at 11pm and felt very safe! I know a lot of people have mentioned that the area where the hotel is on is a little seedy but I really didn't feel unsafe at all. We took the S8 train from the airport to the München Hbf main train station. It was around a 40 minute ride. It was 20.80 Euro vs 50-70 Euro for a cab beginning on traffic. We grabbed a four seats facing each other and put our luggage in the seat area with us so it would be out of the way. It was a quick 2 minute walk to the hotel. Note - as you approach the elevators from the lobby, the one on the left is very small and the one of the right is still small by US standards but large enough to get a few people and some luggage in it! Loved, loved, loved this hotel! For the rate we paid (well under $200/night), this is as good as it gets in a major European city. We stayed earlier this month and everything from the lobby to the location to the room itself was fantastic. The location is about a block from the central train station, but the street itself is fairly quiet (and totally safe). We loved that we could walk to Marienplatz within 10 minutes but could hop over to the station to get on the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to easily reach any other destination in the city. Staff was welcoming and even responded to a last minute email the night before our arrival requesting early check-in. The space is contemporary and luxurious feeling, and the Marc offers lots of little extras, like a water bottle filling station in the lobby. Our room on the 2nd floor was completely quiet and, compared to other hotels I've stayed in in Europe, fairly spacious. The bathroom was sleek and well situated, easy for 2 of us to get ready in the mornings at the same time. I'd read reviews of the breakfast before we booked and was excited that it totally exceeded expectations. It is amazing! And considering our breakfast at a so-so cafe the morning before we checked in was about 15 euros for two of us, having the breakfast included in the room rate made the value even better. I have not been this pleased with a hotel in a long time. You could pay more and be even closer to some of the tourist attractions, but when the difference is an easy 5 minute walk, I'm not sure why you would. read more

Stayed twice - at the beginning of our trip and then at the end too. Booked one stay thru Expedia and the second stay direct with hotel. Direct booking included a welcome beer, while the Expedia booking included chocolates in the room. Both a delight! Beds were comfortable and sheets were very nice. Bathroom was modern and clean and the rooms were comfortable in size - and for reference I am an American not used to smaller euro hotel sizes. Staff was welcoming and the breakfast spread was the best we experienced on our whole trip across Bavaria and Austria! Hotel provided complimentary bottle of water mit gas - and had a tap in the lobby for more if you wanted. The Marc Munchen had everything we needed for a 3 night stay in Munich. First off, the Marc is very convenient to the hbf (central train station). The front door is about a 5 minute walk and when you arrive with luggage this is a great perk. We enjoyed the staff who were very pleasant...there was also water in the lobby for free 24/7 which was great as well. Pros: Free breakfast is wonderful (meats, cheeses, eggs, veggies, fruits, etc...), all the coffee you like and takes all concern for the first meal off the list. Free water in lobby as I already mentioned. Location. Staff. Rooms were well sized for my wife and I including bathroom. Short walk to pedestrian mall area leading to squares of Munich. Cons: Wish the A/C had gotten it a little cooler (we're from Texas and like it frigid) but there was a major heat wave in Europe, so I think normally it would be fine. Many have mentioned location, I thought it was fine. There were shops along street that were not Prada, but we never felt unsafe in any way. Plain and simple, use your wits and you will be fine. Recommend: Absolutely, I think the Marc is a fairly priced hotel with a great location in Munich. read more

My stay there was for six nights as part of a longer holiday. The hotel is modern and very comfortable. Despite the hotel being sited in a busy location (near the main railway station), my room was very quiet and I slept well there. The room was clean and it was easy to relax there. There were no tea or coffee facilities but that was a minor point. Having a room safe was a plus. Breakfast was excellent and Wi-Fi functioned seamlessly. It was just a short walk to the subway and tram stops. Also very easy walk to the centre of the old city were restaurants, bars and excellent shopping abounds. read more

Just spent three days at the Marc München and thoroughly enjoyed it. We found that it checks all the boxes and more! Great Location: a block from the Munich Central Train Station. From the airport you can take a train to the station for 11 Euros. Lovely and Helpful Staff: from the moment you enter they are professional, friendly and attentive. They were also very helpful with local information and gave us a late checkout on the spot. Finally, they all speak English. Amazing Breakfast: cannot express just how amazed I was by the spread which included a great variety: cold cuts, lox, cheeses, eggs, Bavarian sausages, spreads, jams, amazing breads, yogurt, fruits, museli, juices, smoothie, waters. And the dining room is bright and nicely decorated. Staff in the restaurant were professional and very pleasant. Wonderful Room: Neat, comfortable room with low, firm bed and a modern bathroom with a wonderful rain shower. Rooms are normal sized but well equipped. Windows have a double hinge and open from top or the side for great ventilation. Satellite TV has many channels, though none in English other than BBC News, CNN International. Other channels in French, Arabic, Hindu. The room has a safe, good closet space, two chairs, a desk. Lobby has a seating area with large screen tv where the patrons watched soccer matches during our stay. The location of the hotel - about a five minute walk to the train station - was a plus for us since we took a couple excursions during our stay. Loved everything about the hotel itself, once inside it's confines. Great modern lobby with useful free fresh filtered water dispenser (both sparkling and still) that we used multiple times during our visit, very clean rooms, excellent included breakfast, effective air conditioning system despite the heat wave we encountered in July, and very nice and helpful staff. The area near the train station though, although not unsafe, is not particularly desirable and did not provide us with a good overall impression of Munich. Although there are other nice looking hotels and some upper scale hostels on the same street, within the surrounding 1-2 blocks, there are people loitering, and the sidewalks and surrounding streets directly around the railroad station (where we walked by each time we boarded mass transportation), were simply filthy. We discovered that this is not representative of the rest of Munich, which after getting away from this immediate area around the main station, is much cleaner and felt more comfortable to us. read more

Very conveniently located close to the main train station. The interior seems kind of old and overdue for a re-model project. The carpet reminded me of what used to be in my Grandmother's kitchen. However, the rooms are a good size and the breakfast was significantly better than a few of the other 3-star hotels in the area. The price for wireless access is pretty reasonable, but the connection was practically non-existent in our 4th floor room. In the lobby, it worked just fine. The lobby has a few security cameras and signs warning about pick pockets which is a little unsettling, but we didn't experience any issues or see any unsavory characters hanging about while we were there. read more

While this boutique hotel is clean and affordable, the location has good and bad aspects. I first have to give a shout out to the gentleman behind the desk on the day of our arrival, April 27(we never could see his nametag). We didn't anticipate such a quick recovery through Customs, etc. and arrived at the hotel before the Housekeeping staff. He was very sympathetic and we must have looked haggard with him feeling bad for us after our long journey from Florida via Philadelphia. Originally he said the room could be ready by 2PM (yikes, we were exhausted and no way ready to start exploring) then changed it to around 9:30. Wunderbar! We found the Staachus Passagen, window shopped then sat by Starbuck's until the room was ready. Thank you again, you saved our day and made a great first impression. As to rest of the hotel, we loved it and even though the area was not the best, we never felt unsafe. The pros of the area was the proximity to The Hauptbahnhof and the cons were exactly the same. The area does need a cleanup as does most of Munich. We did have a few minute walk to Karlstor, so next visit we would consider a more central hotel (tough decision and unsure if the $ would be worth it). Don't get me wrong, the hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable with an amazing staff (who greeted us all the time) with an absolutely astonishing breakfast. There were so many choices and so plentiful, we often delayed any lunch, skipped it or just had a snack. We took two day trips and the proximity to the train station was helpful as most leave from that area. We did not have to rush. The hotel had a filtered water station setup with glasses and that was convenient and we did not have to purchase much bottled water. The bathrooms had towel warmers which was a nice touch. The room itself was carefully thought out (small by USA standards) with more than sufficient storage. The TV worked well even though there was only CNN International, CNBC and Bloomberg TV for English speakers; but we spent little time watching TV which was basically white noise to fall asleep. The shower was hot with good pressure even for a "Rain" model. The glass doors was different and in keeping with the modern minimalist style of the hotel. The Breakfast Room was neatly appointed and quite appealing. The pre-booking rate was rather good compared to other hotels and paying the extra for breakfast was a no-brainer considering the lack of options if you wanted to venture out early. Getting breakfast included was one of the best decisions we made. We also received chits for two free drinks from the bar. Overall, we made an excellent choice but wonder if there were better (?) options. read more

Location was in an area that felt unsafe. The walk to the city center was a bit frightening because young men were bumping against us, presumably with the intent of lifting our wallets. Air conditioning is controlled by the front desk, so activation of the unit requires a call downstairs. The pictures on the website make the rooms appear much larger than they are. Be very careful to read the room dimensions. The room we booked that appeared spacious was so small that we literally did not have the room to open our suitcases. One front desk attendant ( a young woman ) was very accommodating and changed us to larger rooms, but it was not without a spirited conversation with a gentleman who was obviously her superior and was not happy with our request. For the remainder of our visit he was not cordial. The reviews of the hotel indicate that the rooms are comparable to the Soffitel, which is about two blocks away and not that much more expensive. I can't believe this is the case. Some positive notes -- the breakfast was superb and included in the room price. Rooms were very clean. Once inside, the hotel itself felt very safe. But will not stay here again. Very disappointed especially after reading reviews. read more

Everything about the hotel was excellent from the moment we were greeted by the wonderful, highly professional and friendly staff. An ideal location for access to all the sites, the hotel room was immaculate, the shower room luxurious and the beautiful dining room was filled with a huge selection of delicious treats. The staff were so kind and helpful in arranging taxis, suggesting restaurants and even making bookings for us - a gentleman who I think was called Demitrius was especially helpful and had a very good sense of humour ! Marc München is a lovely hotel well situated at the center of downtown Munich. A short walk to the main train station and Marienplatz. At the end of the street are two grocery stores for your convenience. The room rate including breakfast - which has a wide variety of cold and hot foods, and I especially liked the green juice! - is very reasonable. The rooms are spacious enough and most importantly, CLEAN. The beds are comfortable and the so are the pillows. The air conditioning was just perfectly set. Not cold not warm. The bathroom is modern and has a good space to move about without any restrictions. The staff was friendly, except that there was no help available to bring your luggage up to your room and back down upon checking out. We, my son and my elderly parents, had a lot of luggage so that was somewhat extra work for us. Overall, I would stay in this hotel again in the future. :) read more
