Once we were finally ready to buy a home, my wife and I already knew we wanted to hire Michael F…read more Jordan as our real estate lawyer. We first met him when he gave a presentation at the RUPCO first-time home buyer classes. He was professional, knowledgeable, and seemed to really have the buyer's best interests at heart. Every time we met to sign documents and even at closing, he went through each part of anything we were signing and put them in simplified terms. Whenever we asked questions, he listened and answered them thoughtfully. He made sure we understood what we were signing and why, and his legal assistant Michele Koskie was in touch with our realtor and mortgage loan officer during every step of the home buying process to make sure everything was on track and everything we needed to do on our end was done. Overall, we had a great experience with Mr. Jordan and would recommend him to anyone who is buying a house - there is a reason he has the positive reputation in the Hudson Valley that he does, he is one of the best in the business!

Don't recommend Scott Miller or this firm for real estate transfers. Miller represented me as a…read moreseller and transferred title to my property to the buyer but failed to ensure I receive proceeds. The mortgage check he accepted at a closing he told me I did not need to attend as he'd wire funds to me was never validated and despite explaining the problem to him numerous times, he took no action, not even calling the buyer's attorney to inform him of the need that my bank made clear to me and I repeated to him which was the need to have the buyer contact the bank that wrote the mortgage check to have an employee there validate the check. Anyone can write a check and that my bank could not locate anyone at the buyer's bank to validate the check, my bank was certainly not about to pay the mortgage amount to me. Worse, the buyer's real estate broker told Miller he didn't want his buyers impacted just because I received no proceeds, and Miller was most compliant. Rather than produce validation, what I received was a duplicative unvalidated check, identical to the first. Miller's failure to procure proceeds was part of a larger problem. Without my informed consent due to a 12-day hold on an amount in excess of half a million dollars, which fact he knew but never shared with me in advance, he deposited this amount in my zero interest bearing checking account, which he knew I kept no funds in for that reason and which in itself my bank deemed to be suspicious enough to constitute fraud and froze my checking account. It was due to be closed. Miller said he wanted to talk to my bank so I arranged a call but he cut off the manager as she tried to explain the problem, only to repeat the question (13 days later for me, of grief from Miller) as to whether - without any help from him - the problem was finally solved. When hearing it was due to my work and that of a cadre of managers helping me, his duty to relieve me of, he wrote a disingenous email, full of his characterisic bogus allegations, excuses, insults, sarcasm, and changing of the subject to disown his breach of duty, claiming he told me all along there was no problem and the only issue was I was in touch with my bank. He had a copy of the letter from my bank that they froze my account because of his deposit. He added that his office also told me there was no problem. No such discussion occured. Knowing my account was frozen, no funds being allowed to be withdrawn and incoming funds rejected, his "legal advice" was to drive to a distant branch of the bank and try to withdraw funds there. That "advice" which was to try to fake out the bank, stunned bank management, copied on emails to and from Miller. It would have hastened closure of my account reinforcing the belief that fraud was afoot. As to the $1k in interest he lost for me, when wiring was the original agreement, all he could say is that he is not a banker. He understands income for himself. When I first spoke to Miller, he said to retain him he wants $500 immediately and I can use zelle to transfer it. I told him I only use zelle with my 0 interest checking account where I keep no funds, and income goes in and out. I showed a screen shot of a pending transfer I made to take effect the next day of funds coming from my high interest account into the checking account so I could do the zelle transfer then. Not good enough, he said $500 must be paid immediately so had to give him my credit card account number, expiration date and security code. How's that for security? I had no choice, but point is he knew from the beginning that putting over half million in checking would be a problem if on a long hold. Never had a hold as all my amounts cleared the next business day. He - and his officemate - are disrespectful and disregardful of clients. Originally his paralegal called to arrange a meeting to go over closing documents, the only professional in that office. We set a time. Miller didn't show. The paralegal wasn't around to inform me that Miller couldn't make it and offer to reschedule or ask if I'd prefer to see the officemate which would not have preserved any continuity. There were conversations in process and I wanted to meet my attorney. The officemate could have but did not call or email to notice me that Miller could not make it. So I drove the distance only first to learn that. No apologies, instead abuse and acting in my disinterests began, even threats to not do closing a week before. I did more work getting my proceeds, than Miller did. Time and again he demonstrates lack of truthfulness, diligence, fiduciary responsibility and fictitious and other non-meritorious claims. It's reckless. Couldn't get back to discuss the wiring of funds. Refused to meet, said plan to not attend closing was off, even though he scheduled it for when I would be doing move, then finally after i told him that enough, said then drop everything and drive the distance immediately. He can't take responsibility or care.
