It stretches throughout the old city center - centre ville and, curves through the laneways of this beautiful town. I have always loved the markets around France and this one is special as it's historic and there is about 200 vendors or more there. You get everything from fashion to food. A handful of people selling local fresh produce, truffles, foie gras and lots of cooked food like cakes and BBQ meats. Go early as it got really busy after 11am. Until then it was nice and quiet and the stalls were letting you sample all their foods. The highlight for me was the oyster man - 6 oysters for €5 and they were huge. I just stood there at the shop and ate them :-) lots of people were amused :-) The heirloom tomatoes I bought here were some of the sweetest I have ever tasted....yummmm, not to mention the figs stuffed with foie gras, unbelievable ;-)) I would come here in a heartbeat. It's a gorgeous market in beautiful settings.

The produce vendors are here early at 6:00 AM but the food stands don't open until at least 8:00 AM. There's also flowers, clothing, baked goods, fishmongers, cheesemongers, and butchers. I wish I could eat seafood in the morning since the Cap Ferret oysters did look good. Instead, I went to the crepe stand. My friend and I ordered a citron crepe and a sausage galette. The crepe and galette were made to order and delicious. The savory sausage galette had a creamy mustard sauce with fresh chives so it was amazing. I wish I could eat more (such problems I have) so I'll definitely have to come back!

It is located throughout the town centre, and walking around it takes at least an hour without stopping to buy anything. Park by the Aveyron and cross the bridge into town and you can't miss the start of the market. It spreads throughout the town, with only a tiny fraction located in the market hall itself, and despite the number of small dogs and pushchairs around it's fairly easy to navigate, although you may have to push a little to get near the most popular stalls. Many stallholders speak a little English (or are ex-pats) but all appreciate it if you make an attempt to order in French first!

We recommend taking a food tour like Taste of Toulouse to fully take in the best foods they have to offer! The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We really wanted to do some wine tasting in Bordeaux, so this was the region for that. We found a large country house 5 minutes from Montréal that would be big enough for our group of 12. Like many of the medieval and fortified villages in the area, Montréal is situated on top of a hill, with a small square in the middle of the town, a cathedral and a great view of the grape vines and wheat field below. Though small, it will meet most of your needs. It has an Avia petrol station, a small Proxi grocery store, a hotel, a bank, a boucherie, a boulangerie/patisserie, a café, and a few restaurants. On Fridays, there is a small farmers market under the arcades by the square. You can buy all sorts of vegetables and fruits from local farmers, and rotisserie chicken, escargot, grilled sausages and ribs from The Poulet Roti vendor. There is also fromagerie that sells all kinds of artisanal cheese from the Pyrenees region. On Sundays, you will find a flea market at the square, and a few food vendors--the Poulet Roti and a gentleman who sells crêpes with Nutella and Grand Marnier for under 2€ each. He also makes churros as he's from Spain. The local restaurants are open too! If you're in the area, visit this beautiful little village and be transported in time!
