Cockroach!
The food at Maremonti (an upscale Italian place) is ok, but my boyfriend and I had quite the experience last night......
Having finished eating dinner, we were talking and finishing our drinks before heading home. Suddenly, I felt something on my hand which I had resting on my lap. I looked down and saw a giant (and, yes, I mean giant) cockroach on the back of my hand. I gave a small scream and shook the cockroach onto the floor beside me. A waiter that was nearby rushed over and stepped on the bug. My boyfriend looked on incredulously.
At least a couple of minutes went by before a waiter picked the cockroach off the floor. My boyfriend and I said there wondering what the restaurant's management's next move would be..... We saw the managers talking but not a single manager came over to apologize or comp our meal or anything.
Ten minutes later, a waiter appeared with a cloth napkin and a small bowl of water. He asked if he could wipe off the back of my hand for me. I let him, but still no manager came over.
We sat there.....and sat there.....and sat there.....
Another 10 minutes later, a waiter came out with mini-churros and sweet sauce. They said it was an apology for the cockroach. Really? Our stomachs were turning and they offered us more food? Did they really think we wanted to eat more from a place that has a cockroach problem?
We asked for the bill thinking that might trigger them to tell us that we didn't need to pay for our dinner. Nope! They brought the bill, which was over $100 USD.
Unbelievable!
Scratch Maremonti off your list of places to eat. The food is just ok. The place is cockroach infested. The staff doesn't know how to run a first-rate restaurant. read more
