Hearing from friends that did the trip on their own, you had to get from your hotel to the bus station for the trip out to Teotihuacan. Granted the round trip via public transportation was about one half cheaper, we opted signing up for a tour from Viajes for convenience, any hassles due to language barriers and safety factor on a busy public bus. Signing up with our hotel concierge in the morning, the van picked us up at 11:30 and our hotel was the last pick-up stop. The payment was made to the tour guide. Being on tours around the world, we knew about the obligatory shopping stops. We stopped at a silver factory for about half an hour. Then we were off to the trip to Teotihuacan. The tour guide narrated in Spanish and English. We were dropped off at one of the Teotihuacan entrances and given our admission tickets and were allotted 2.5 hours for our visit. In the time, we were able to visit and walk up the Temples of the Sun and Moon and stroll the Avenue of the Dead. When we left, the tour took us to a nearby restaurant for an hour lunch and then a visit to a stone art and tequila shop for about 20 minutes. Then we headed back to the City and we were the first ones dropped off. Last in first out. That was nice. Viajes provided a nice tour to Teotihuacan, which fit our requirements given our time limitations.

We were picked up on time only to be taken to a silver shop for an hour to finish our "paperwork". Of course the guide was very interested in making sure you had time to look around and make any purchases you might want to make. We finally got on the road and got to the pyramids where we were told we had two hours to walk around! We were going to be on an eight hour tour with an hour and a half travel time total, and we get two hours to explore what we have come to see?!? We had been told there were to be at most 15 in the tour, we didn't get upset when there 20. This tour was to be in English and Spanish. So we get out of the van at the pyramids and we split up into the Spanish and English groups. Our English takes us ten yards away and gives us a brief overview of the history and description of the complex. He then went on to tell us we could go off in whichever direction we wanted! So we have our coursory UNGUIDED tour (why bother to complain when his English was atrocious and it appears I knew as much as he did from my reading a few Wikipedia articles). We got back to the bus at three by pushing it and there was only one other couple there. More showed up as the minutes passed. We travel the short distance to the other side of the pyramid complex to go to lunch. After we ate they tour guide handed us off to an employee of the restaurant who started explaining how they make mezcal and tequila. We were all angry we had been rushed through the pyramids which we had come to see, just so we could spend time having people trying to sell us cheap goods. We explained to the people who were trying to sell us junk that we were not interested and weren't going to listen, and did they get mad! They went and complained to the tour guide, he came and complained to us, and we told him to just get us back to the city. This tour company gave us the very least they could and took as much of our time as they could. The tour buses had two names on them and I STRONGLY advise you to avoid both of them. The first is "Tours Mexico City" and the second name is www.viajesmexicocity.com I have also learned they also operated under the name "Amigo Tours"

    Wow, If I could give zero stars, I would. I've already posted my complaint, but also read other…read morepeople's experiences. It is no surprise that over 98% of the other reviews were 1-star (negative) reviews. Here's my question: Does Aeromexico really look at these reviews to improve their business? I seriously doubt it.     The worst customer service EVER!!!!…read more I have to fly to Mexico City from Oaxaca in a week's time, then get a connecting flight to Guatemala in order to renew my tourist visa. I received an email from Aeromexico yesterday, informing me that my flight had been rescheduled to two hours earlier...mind you, I already had a 5 hour layover ahead of me in the Mexico City airport, so my layover now became a SEVEN hour layover! Of course this is absolutely horrific and unacceptable. But... there are NO other flights that day (except ONE--but in the evening--I would miss my connecting flight) despite the fact that Mexico City is the biggest hub in the entire country! Unbelievable. I called their customer service number today and was on hold, waiting for a rep to answer, for a full FORTY-FIVE MINUTES!!!! I could not believe it. Then, when a male representative finally DID answer, I complained about the long wait, telling him it was unacceptable. Rather than apologizing, as would have been appropriate, he got defensive and told me they were getting a lot of calls. Well, no wonder, if they are constantly changing flight times on customers, irrespective of their wants, needs and personal plans!!!! Unreal. I told him that the company OBVIOUSLY needs to hire more customer service reps! This comment was completely ignored by him. I then told him to pass a note about my dissatisfaction along to a supervisor. He again completely ignored this request. What a complete $^#@*$%^!!!! Worse, he claimed he could NOT issue a refund, telling me I would have to go through the "travel agent" where I purchased the ticket (which was Cheapoair, another nightmare!). I protested that the ticket through them was non-refundable. Well... too bad, was essentially his response.... so I am simply SOL. My options are either to lose the value of the ticket and go with another company or go with the new time and spend a miserable 7 hours in an airport. And get this: the flight time to Guatemala is only 3 hours total! Yet, because of this outrage on their part (AND lack of sufficient flights to Mexico City) I am stuck. I will NEVER use them again!!!! Oh, and by the way, I wanted to take a survey or write a formal complaint about their lack of decent customer service, so I searched on their website for any link or form for which to do this. There is none...only if you have a problem with an actual fight. In other words, they don't want to hear about it, quite clearly. So, my advice to you? Use one of their competitors. I have never had a problem with Volaris, for instance. Is it any wonder that this miserable airline--Aeromexico--has only has a 1.5 star rating!?!?! It is, unfortunately, totally fitting. I would give them a "zero" if such were an option!
