I am not impressed by what I ordered. I ordered the chicken enchilada with the green sauce.The chicken seems not freshly cooked, shredded and been out there for a while. The tortilla seems old too and not even heated or something. The green sauce is too sour. I ordered enchilada on every mexican resto I go to, thats why I am disappointed :-( my friend ordered the shrimp taco. She did not complain so probably she likes it. So here's the scene. It's Valentine's Day. I have no reservations. My beautiful wife needs to be taken out and shown a good time. What do you do? Tacos and tequila obviously! So we headed here and when we arrived both of their parking lots were jammed full. But to my surprise they had "security " and he directed us to the next door parking lot. So we walk to our he door and to my surprise they greet us instantly and sit us in a heart beat. I thought we might be lucky to sit at the bar but we got a great table in the back room. So they had lights a DJ and were really moving. All of the staff were super helpful and courteous. They were moving fast too all over the place. We had drinks and an order of guacamole in literally 5 minutes. We did wait for a while to get our entrees but I expected that and the guacamole was so good it didn't even matter. So entrees were really good too. My wife got a chimichanga and I got the Peruvian steak with an Asian twist. They both came out super fresh and tasty. The portions were perfect and the presentation was really nice too. Taste was on point and everything was really good. Honestly in my opinion they killed it that night. Working in hospitality is hard in nights like this. Valentine's Day can be a really hard night. A million two tops, apps, dinners, and deserts. But this place was rocking and I didn't see a single issue all night. And to top it all off they brought us some chocolate dipped strawberries as a dessert! Great touch. We'll be back! read more

I should say upfront that while I enjoy eating tacos, I don't enjoy mine covered in onions and cilantro. So, it is hard to find a taco place that can accomodate my specific culinary preferences. But, my wife and I wanted to try this place and they offered patio seating (necessary for our toddler). The outside deck was nice with several styles of picnic tables and chairs, and our toddler enjoyed watching the cars drive by and the planes go overhead. We arrived on a Friday night and the place was nearly deserted. I counted at least a dozen employees yet most were just standing around enjoying the sunshine outside on the deck with us. Oh, and a few bees were outside too but we were careful not to distrub them (and in all fairness, we were warned in advance about them). We started off with free chips and salsa. The chips were nice but very underseasoned. I suppose this is better than some places that over-salt them to lure you into buying more drinks, but at a place named "Margarita City" I this seemed odd. Oh well, less salt can't be a bad thing. I ordered the "Williams Special" tacos which had steak, bacon, pineapple, and cheese. This combination seems like it would have hailed from Hawaii and not Mexico but all four ingredients sounded awesome together. And, there were no onions or cilantro listed so I wouldn't have to make a fuss with a special order. Hazaah! My wife picked some chicken fajita dish which did list onions. She ordered first and asked for it without onions, and the waiter argued with her and told her that it didn't come with onions despite them being listed on the menu. Oh well, when it arrived it didn't have onions so that was good. Unfortunately, my tacos came with tons of onions and cilantro. I had them remade without the onions but they still came back with cilantro so I couldn't really enjoy the flavors without getting soap too. Service was pretty quick, and for all the staff on hand it should have been. By the time we left it was starting to get busier. Our food was good, but not great. Like most other taco places, it seems to take one or two visits before I learn exactly how restaurants make their food (including adding things that aren't listed specifically on menus) and how to order properly for what I want. I can't fault them entirely, but here the menu was incorrect twice (listing onions on fajitas when they shouldn't be, and not listing onions on tacos when they come with them). Wasn't sure what to eat on a Friday night and with 3 people having 3 different but flexible choices. After agreeing on mexican cuisine we had to decide on which mexican restaurant. Finally we decided to go to Margarita city as we had never been there before. (I try not to repeat unless the food is excellent) We went with fish tacos, Peruvian ceviche and make my own combo which included burrito, chalupa and chicken quesadilla. My favorite was the chalupa. Let's discuss my first experience with ceviche after watching cooking shows and learning about ceviche. In Peru, ceviche has been declared to be part of the country's national heritage and has even had a holiday declared in its honor. The classic Peruvian ceviche is composed of chunks of raw fish, marinated in freshly squeezed key lime, with sliced onions, chili peppers, salt and pepper. I like the flavors of the dish and would recommend it. This is Albanys best attempt to bring Miami locally and irs a good attempt. They have drag queens performing with some music, comedy and dance moves. This would be a place to watch some soccer games. read more

For starters the nacho supreme, the sour cream had an off putting taste and while they gave a generous portion of shredded chicken, the canned taste of the beans and lack of nacho chips sunk the dish. Last night my power went out unexpectantly, just when my BF was returning from working 35+ hrs plowing, so we quickly decided to go out to eat to spare some of the time waiting for the lights. We live super close to Margarita City Mexican Grill and Bar, so we decided to stop in. I do really like their main area, however we were seated in the back room where music was loud, lights were low and flashy, it was very night-club like. This didn't really effect the experience but I do think I would have preferred dining in the normal area after my BF had a real long couple days. The service was remarkable. My BF couldn't stop mentioning it. We were served and helped by multiple servers every couple minutes. They know how to keep customers happy. We started with a couple drinks, chips, salsa and queso with chorizo. It was all very good. The entrees were very good, better than I expected. My BF got the chimichangas and he loved them. He got beef and chicken and he much preferred the chicken. I got a sample combo. I got the three choices but really should have done two because it was so much! I got the enchilada with chicken, chimichanga with carnitas, and a beef stuffed pepper (pictured). The pepper was good, the enchilada was good, but I agree with Steven that the chimichangas are fantastic. The rice and beans on the side were also very good. I am 70 years old, and this was absolutely and by far the worst Mexican meal I have ever had! The food was barely like warm when the waiter brought it out. I thought they were OK. The à la carte menu kind of confused me, but I was able to order three tacos with steak and cheese for $11.34 or so. The taste of these tacos were OK, but not really special at all. It was a nice touch to have salsa chips included with them and salsa dip.The staff was very helpful, but were unsure of what I ordered at first. That insight I made made me start to think, if you're not sure, how do you think I feel? I thought that I ordered ground beef with all three of them as well, but I didn't notice any ground beef in any of them, only steak and cheese and lettuce. Last Friday, October 6th, we attended the show. We arrived around 8 PM and were promptly seated. Our waiter, Rene, provided exceptional service. I inquired about ordering a tequila shot, and he said he would check. Upon his return, he informed us that the shot cost approximately $25. Our table ordered two shots, resulting in a total bill of $66. My friend expressed their concern to Rene,who then escalated the issue to the manager. I also spoke with the manager regarding the discrepancy. In response, the manager offered a 10% discount. Additionally, I mentioned that my friend and I got up to dance, which encouraged others to join and created a positive atmosphere for all patrons. Therefore, I would like to clarify whether your company is willing to lose three, or possibly more, customers due to negative word-of-mouth stemming from a $16 discrepancy. New Years Eve! A movie and then to dinner... we had a coupon from a local magazine so we decided to come here... didn't know where it was so googled it. This place has been many different restaurants. DH and I like Mexican food so we decided to have dinner here. I ordered sangria DH had Dos Equis his favorite to start then looked over the menu. DH had Enchiladas Verdes in which he didn't care for the green sauce on top and I had Chicken Fajita with black beans and rice which was scrumptious with bottomless chips and homemade salsa. This was our second trip to Margarita City. I recall the first time we went being a pleasant experience. Unfortunately this time around, not terrible but not great. If you want a frozen margarita, this is your place. Also, if you want cheese enchiladas where the cheese is still formed as shredded cheese, not melted and the mole sauce tastes more like molasses than anything, then this is also the place for you. We ordered cheese dip as an appetizer, this was also starting to harden up and was cool when we received it. My husband ordered the "Tour of Mexico" the burrito was fair, however the chicken enchilada he said the chicken was very dry. I had the combo platter of a chimichanga and stuffed poblano pepper with rice & refried beans. My mom had a chimichanga and enchilada platter with rice & refried beans. Flan for dessert. I have been a returning customer of Margarita City for the better part of the last two years. I've never had an issue. However, I have to comment on my last visit. The restaurant was at least 80 degrees inside and flies were buzzing around. Our waitress had NO idea what was going on when we placed our orders. She clearly did not understand the menu and there was a lot of pointing/mumbling happening during the ordering process. Upon receiving our food, we were disappointed. The salsa was chunky and clearly from the bottom of the can. The quesadillas had multiple hairs in them. The iced tea was cloudy and lukewarm. The refried beans tasted gritty. The waitress disappeared and spent more time adjusting her hair bow than doing her job. It was a completely disappointing experience. read more

We have also eaten dinner here on several occasions and it's earned a spot as one of our place to frequent... from time to time. It's not the best Mexican food in the Capital District, but we do enjoy it. What really keeps us coming back for more is summed up in the name "Margarita City"... Can you get better Margaritas locally? Sure, you can. But the variety and selections of house specialty Margaritas... is while we keep coming. My wife had one of her favorites here, the blueberry lemonade Margarita. And I tried the Strawberry Rhubarb for the first time... it won't be my last. The contrast between the sweet Strawberry and the tart rhubarb were exactly what I was hoping for. Weather your wanting a couple of Margaritas or a full coarse Mexican meal.
