Margaritas Mexican Restaurant is a well decorated and very vivid colored establishment that offers a unique twist on Mexican food in Maine. The menu has a fairly wide selection of appetizers, entrees, and deserts. The Barria Taco plate was served with 3 tacos and a small portion of pineapple. The Blackened Salmon Fajita platter came with a full skillet of bean, Spanish rice, 4 oz of Salmon, and a fair amount of sautéed onions and peppers. Additionally the meal came with an additional plate filled with salsa, cheese, fried pineapple, guacamole, sour cream, and pickled peppers. Collectively the food was flavorful, well prepared, delicious, and appealing to the eyes. The waitress was kind and very busy. It took roughly 45 minutes from the time we ordered food until it was served. Due to the waitress being so busy, they made minimal visits to the table. 8/10. We will be making another trip to Margaritas for another delicious meal soon enough. read more

Tough time deciding if they should be a three star or four star review. There are a lot of hits and misses with this visit. First off, the waitress was super sweet and had our drinks refilled as needed, and kept our chips and salsa full. She really was the deciding factor on four stars. I had a grilled chicken and avocado salad with grilled vegetables, spinach, and quinoa that was very good. I would totally get this again. Very flavorful with a light dressing. The quesadillas that my dinner mates ordered weren't so successful. They were small and left my son and husband hungry for more food. Flavor was fine, but nothing special. The chips, while light and crispy, tasted like the fry oil may need to be replaced. Not sure that I would be back to this location except for that salad. read more

Dinner and drinks with the ladies. I mean, that combination alone gets us started with a positive vibe. Plenty of parking. We were seated right away. Nice corner booth. The restaurant is loud - as you'd expect, and it was busy. That meant we waited a little bit for our food but not excessively. Margarita flight was a novelty for me. Fun. Shrimp fajitas were good with lots of food. Lost a star because both margaritas were weak - could barely taste the tequila.

Waited forever for drinks and food. Meals arrived like they had been under heat lamps. Beans were dry as was the rice (actually crunchy!) no one checked on us and we ordered another round of drinks before well before we were done in order to receive somewhat on time. It was delicious i do highly recommend this nachos. I also order the combo fajitas add shrimp. I usually don't like the mexican rice and i was hesitance to try it here but i was glad i did it was fresh not hard and the taste was amazing. The steak in the fajita was soft and well seasoned. In a time where finding good help - or any help at all - is a nearly insurmountable challenge, our experience today proves that it doesn't take a big staff, it takes the right staff. The team was clearly understaffed with one server working the lounge during a busy Saturday lunch hour - I say lounge not because we chose the lounge, the dining room was closed because there was one severer in the entire restaurant. That being said, she along with a manager and kitchen staff worked in unison with smiles on their faces to provide all patrons with a pleasant experience. Food was hot and delicious. The meal may have taken a bit longer than normal, but by no means did the team not see to our every need. Great job all! read more

I have been going to Margaritas For over 30 Years. i order the same meal each time I go there because I like what I like and they always prepare it as described. The last pew times the server recommends a different way to order my meal and I am disappointed when I get my meal. This last time was not only disapointing but gross and not edible. I'm so grateful for how seriously margaritas is taking COVID precautions. All of the employees are properly wearing masks, they have an optional outdoor seating area, and they have spaced out tables indoors to keep people apart and safe. Of course I love the waitstaff you pieces and today's service was no different. Allie was attentive and friendly. Lastly, I am so glad they finally brought back the Jalapeño Baby Chimis. This place feels like an emotional rollercoaster, and I am not exaggerating. We went on a Friday, it wasn't too packed. It took about 10 minutes for a waiter and menus. When our waiter came they still had to clean our table. We werent told their name either, just immediately want do you want. Keep in mind there were 3 busy tables this whole time. The wait for appetizers wasn't too long and pleasantly surprising. Then came the main course. I got my food first and waited another 10 minutes for my boyfriend's food. His was piping hot and mine was starting to get cold. Still though, the food was pretty good. The price however, for the service and the actual price of food itself was insane. I went here while visiting my boyfriend who lives in Maine. This place was just amazing. The service was very quick and they were offering some cool drink specials. I have dined there for the past 2 years with my coworkers starting at 18 years old tonight I was asked for an ID after requesting a water to which I was informed it is a "bar" the 8 of us got up and left after we were sent to the main dining and we're not served in there. We are very disappointed because we rely on going there after a hard shift to relax and enjoy the other employees company. I have never disrespected their business in the sense of even trying to order a drink we have always tipped well and spent our time and hard earned money their and enjoyed our experience! What has happened to Margarita's in Auburn? My wife and I went in after a show to have drink and there was a waitress who refused to serve us because we asked for a prosecco margarita? She acted like we were out of line and we hadn't had anything to drink or treated her with disrespect. We have been to Margarita's a lot as we have lived in the area for over ten years. She did serve us one drink but didn't offer menus (we asked) and then when we ordered food she never brought it to us. After inquiring with the manager we were told that staff was hard to find and he didn't want to upset the person who was serving us. When she came back with the bill she looked and smiled and said "i guess you won't be leaving a tip?" This was the the strangest encounter we have ever had eating out. While I appreciate staffing concerns, it would seem there might be some standard in which a waitress might have to meet. It will be difficult to consider going back. read more

An amazing Mexican food restaurant! As you walk in at first you feel this warm positive atmosphere while also being greeted by these nice hosts! When my friend and I went here, we ordered the Wednesday all you can eat tacos for $10 (I'm pretty sure), along with having chips and salsa for a little appetizer. The chips were the best chips I've had in a while, very thin and crispy with a hint of salt. With that, the tacos were also filled with so much flavor, my friend and I ended up finishing 4 tacos (they were huge!) The meat is cooked medium to rare which is perfect for we like it medium rare. The platter had a choice of flour or corn tortillas we chose corn. They came rolled up in alum foil roll served warm. On the skillets were the steak cut in strips. Grilled green peppers and onions, Mexican rice, a small portion of black beans and refried beans. On a side platter were the cold fix-ins shredded lettuce, cut up cubed tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream and shredded cheese. All was delicious and served with the Original Margaritas on ice and rimmed with salt. Unfortunately no upgrade to Jose Cuervo for $1.75. Even if it was National Tequila Day! I am a very regular customer to Margaritas Auburn, ME. The Bartender Crew, Waitress/Waiter crew are awesome along with the kitchen staff. Many are my friends. Can't say much good for management!!! Once this place had a manager staff that really cared yet that has changed and my last experience showed. Got told I had a 25 minute wait for what was an empty patio seating area was puzzling to me and when I asked I only learned that the hostesses classified me as rude. Once I heard this I apologized to them both while the manager just stood there with a blank stare on his face. At that moment I decided to leave and not have dinner here. For management reading this my Suggestion would be to let your hostess and waitstaff know why your are having people wait to be seating when you have an empty restaurant. People will understand you have kitchen help shortages, they can't see that from your lobby, your bar area, your patio or anyplace else. Equally I was not rude yet simple didn't understand. Many of us are working in short staffed jobs. I'm sure I will return in time. Many of my friends work here. They are the reason I go here. Just sad to see weak management. read more

The food was amazing and the service was spot on. We went for my mother in law's 60th birthday and there were 2 tables reserved for the party. Jill was our server and she did an amazing job orchestrating drunk orders, appetizer orders, meal orders, and cake cutting services. She had another waiter helping who was serving the other table who did equally amazing. Our bills were even split up and 100% correct! Only recommendation is that the table configuration was better though out since it was set up as parallel banquet table style and you couldn't interact with anyone at the table behind you with little space to move between the chars of the two tables. read more

I remember going to the original Margarita's in Portland during college and getting sloshed on Thursday nights (Ladies Night!), but I dunnnnno, Maine, I sort of think with the lack of Mexicans you all really should give. It. Up. This is definitely something to add to the Stuff White People Like list - "bastardized Mexican food." BUT considering that this is central Maine we're talking about, and there are literally NO competitors to Margaritas, I'll give this old workhorse three stars. I don't drink tequila, so my only option for a beer was apparently Corona? Even the other "Mexican" restaurants in Portland serve Negro Modelo and Dos Equis... my dad sucked down three margaritas, but this is unusual for him. I'm pretty sure this had more to do with the family crisis we just went through being resolved (my brother survived the Japanese earthquake and tsunamis) than the quality of the beverage. My stepmom had a frozen strawberry margarita, but seemed less than impressed. I pined for some Tecate, knowing that if I asked for one, I would be asked in turn to explain what I was talking about. Anywayyyy, I got the fish tacos and they were weird - battered and deep fried cod-esque fish on a sort-of crispy taco with a red cabbage slaw thing on top. I don't even know what to say about that, except that possibly someone should Wikipedia "tilapia." My stepmom got a salad and my dad got some sort of combo plate. I can't say anything about this experience was particularly Mexican, but then maybe I should start drinking tequila again (wait, no... I really shouldn't). I hate giving out 1 star reviews, but Auburn Marg's needs to step up their game entirely. I recently went with a group of friends, who had never had Margarita's, and since we were in the L/A area and they wanted Mexican, I figured that we'd give it a shot, since we'd be eating in rather than take out. I thought that the table-side service would be far superior to my take-out experience; I was wrong. When we came in to the restaurant, we weren't even offered an option to be in the dining room (for a group of 6), but were told to just go in the lounge and find a table. That's all fine and good, but once we were settled in, we waited over 25 minutes until a member of the party went to the bartender to inform her that no one had come over with water for us... it wasn't a busy time of the day (late afternoon), and we had made eye-contact with, and tried to get the attention of both servers covering the lounge. Because of this severe delay, we were unable to get our lunches like we had hoped (we were on a bit of a time crunch), so we opted for appetizers, as we figured they would be slightly quicker in terms of preparation and still up to the Margarita's standard that I was accustomed to from my many visits to the locations in Portland... Wrong again. I ordered the taquitos, and when I received them, they were luke-warm and not very flavorful. They were fried nicely, but the crema they topped it with was overpowering, and the filling pretty bland. I'm so sad, because I normally love Margarita's, but the Auburn location is not the place to be. :( read more

After a very 'meh' review from our last visit, we were contacted by Assistant Manager Jamie Perrin. He offered a sincere apology and invited us for a return visit. Unannounced, we dropped in on a Saturday night. What a 180! Our dinners were not good - they were great! Amy had the chicken & steak fajitas, which were prepared and plated beautifully. My Chile Rellenos with carnitas were some of the best I've had, again prepared and plated just perfectly. Manager Danielle stopped by to see how things were, which was a nice touch. I really figured with this Margaritas being a stand alone restaurant in sitting in Auburn it would be able to shine like no other and I will tell you, it was one of our best visits to a margaritas around. Although we just had appetizers and some adult beverages, it was a great experience where the wait staff was on top of all of the tables including the refilling of the chips and salsa on time!! The bar area was great with many televisions to catch the games while partaking in some mexican cuisine. The store was very well kept and overall was just a greta experience for a very short visit for the friends I was with during our lunch meeting. I will always make it back to Margaritas with them littered across the state from Orono all the way to right next to Hadlock field in Portland. read more

If just for drinks, 4 stars. The house margarita, coming in under $7 is very tasty. Pepino, also good. Chips good! Salsa ok. My wife and I shared a chicken sunburst chop salad and a combo fajita (shrimp and chicken.) The salad was not good. It didn't have much flavor. Probably could have been improved with a creamy dressing, but went with the recommended tequila cilantro dressing. The killer was the price tag at just under $13. The fajitas were fine. Nothing special. There weren't many peppers and what was there looked/tasted liked it had been sautéed a while ago and was sitting in a warming bin. Based on the food/food value, I wouldn't go again.
