About a two minute walk from the Rialto Market and Grand Canal and minutes from many of the main sites, this was an ideal spot for us to begin our adventures in Venezia. We stayed in the Vivaldi room which was a top floor, almost attic type room. It was cozy and perfect for our stay. It had an attached bathroom (important to know this when booking a room in Italy) and our little section of the inn was very quiet. Our ceiling window opened to let in the cool breeze and ringing of church bells. Amazing. Breakfast was downstairs in a lovely dining room. Our server (his name escapes me) was so kind and by the second morning remembered how each of us took our coffee. He also came to let us into the B&B when we managed to lock ourselves out one evening, talk about customer service. Our host, Barbara, was incredibly helpful during our visit. She recommended restaurants, offered to call in reservations, mapped out our day-to-day activities and helped us check in to our online flight reservation. One word of caution...this inn is on the third floor with no lift so if you aren't a fan of stairs or are unable to climb them, I would suggest finding different accommodations. Venice was our first stop in Italy and this B&B was really so instrumental in our stay. I look forward to the day that we return to Venezia and say ciao to La Villeggiatura.

The room was beautifully decorated. It was quite large and pleasant especially by European standards. The hotel is well located for touring yet just enough out of the main areas where tourists congregate to be a little quieter and calmer. It is also located a fairly short distance from the dock where the water taxi will drop you or pick you up (60€ from the Venice train station and 100€ from the boat dock at the airport). One of the things to consider if you are carrying very much luggage is how many of those picturesque but steep little Venetian bridges there are between your arrival point and your hotel. There are none between the water taxi point and this hotel.

We purchased air tickets (also non refundable) Less than a week before arriving, I receive a bizarre text that they have to cancel my reservations because a "family of 9" had covid in the building and they have to shut down for 14 days. Oddly enough, we have a friend staying there during the same time and the place is open and full. They obviously double booked or got a much better offer as prices are through the roof this Easter weekend and almost everything is booked up. They do not respond to phone calls or messages. We're stuck now with non refundable flights and no reasonable lodging options for our long planned vacation. Do not book here.

I really, really wanted to love it here, but I just didn't…read more Murano doesn't have a lot of places to stay, but I was keen to spend the day before and the day after our cruise on Murano instead of in Venice proper, so we needed 2 separate nights in a hotel. I booked Murano Palace for both but ended up cancelling the second night and going elsewhere. Basically it is a small, family-run place that is much more like a B&B than a hotel. The owner wanted us to call when we were at the airport but that would have been expensive, so we just emailed and said we were on course for our arrival time. You see, they don't staff the building except when they know people are coming. So that's awkward. We got to the hotel about half an hour early and the door was locked, so we buzzed and waited and waited and buzzed and knocked and nothing. Finally I emailed and said we were waiting and the door was opened for us. There's no lift and the stairs a bit awkward when you're dragging luggage and there's no offer of help. The lights have to be pushed on every time (and you need a special key to have them on in your room). The lady who checked us in was nice but didn't really speak English. Our room was not the cheapest in the hotel but wasn't a canal view - it was, in fact, right next to the reception desk. The window opened up onto nothing, except the kitchen window - so they could see right in our room if we didn't have the curtains drawn. And it was warm but the air conditioning wasn't on so we wanted the window open... not great. But the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom large. The TV is tiny and doesn't have any English channels. There is a minibar with a few free items which is nice. When we checked in we had to decide what time we wanted breakfast the next day, which was annoying. As it was, we didn't much want to get up for breakfast after a terrible sleep - the walls are paper-thin, and there was a late check-in, and people talking in the corridor throughout the night (not at all loudly but they might as well have been right in our room). So we traipsed to our unwanted breakfast and met the male owner, who was friendly but a bit overbearing. As we don't drink coffee we might as well not have bothered - we were each given a warm bread roll and there were a few pastries but that was pretty much it. But that's to be expected, and Italians don't really do breakfast. Long story short - if you like the B&B feeling, want to feel 'part of the family', and have good earplugs, you'll love it here. We didn't.

We were only staying one night before we switched hotels, so we chose Citta di Milano. So this place is extremely hard to get to (like everything else in Venice). Once you're there, it's definitely not much to look at. HOWEVER, the check-in guy was the HOTTEST MAN I've ever seen in my life! Seriously, he was a classically good looking Italian man. Anyway, back to the hotel. The lobby is tiny, you have to climb up a bunch of stairs and the public toilets were kind of gross. Our room was kind of grim (yellow bedsheets, plain bathroom, old furniture) and was located on the 2nd floor. All in all, I was kind of disappointed with the room but sucked it up, because we were only there for one night. HOWEVER! We were traveling in March and didn't realize that there are mosquitos everywhere, but it's not time to turn on the air conditioner. On top of that, the staff had the heater in the bathroom on FULL BLAST and wouldn't turn it off when we asked. The result is an extremely stuffy room and disgusting room. We tried to make the best of it, but no dice. After a nap, we went downstairs to ask for a fan or something. The lady behind the counter spoke 0 English, and her solution was to change our rooms. The result? We had a master suite on the 1st floor! Lesson learned: If you stay at the Citta, stay in one of the meh rooms on the 2nd floor, then wait awhile and ask to switch to the first floor where it's possible to turn off the bathroom heaters. Absolute score, but I wouldn't stay here unless I had another one of those fancy rooms again.

The staff is young and was VERY friendly and kind about us checking in at 12:30am. I believe if you call in advance, they are happy to make arrangements for late arrivals. We also had TWO small dogs (puggle size) with us that were completely FREE to stay. The staff also parked our vehicle inside their small private gated driveway and moved it when needed. We will definitely stay here again. The beds weren't very comfortable but all the positives out-weigh the negatives. Thank you Hotel staff!! You guys were great! We enjoyed our free breakfast, strong WiFi (also free) and cappuccinos. Yum! When we come back to Venice, we will stay here again - unless there is a better deal. ;)

We were on the third floor in room 51. We were concerned that there might be noise from the street, but it was fine at night. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, especially Veronica at the front desk and Ken in the breakfast room.

Hmm, maybe, but here there's more. What really put me off with this hotel was that when we got our rooms, the sheet was dirty. Right next to my pillow. Sure, no problems, they will change it tomorrow during the cleaning. Eh, WHAT?? No understanding, no excuse, no attempt to fix it. Was especially impressed that they also had dark rye bread! Minus for nothing being labeled - the plain croissants mentioned in one review were really nice, but they were easily mistaken for the ones with a sweet filling (same box, different shelves, looked identical). It cost about $200 a night USD during the weekend I'm staying at in May. Free breakfast every morning. The free wifi doesn't work in our room. You'll have to stay in the lobby to get connect. They make you return the key to the lobby everytime you leave your room in order for them to clean it. Our blow dryer wasn't working properly bit we were too busy to complain. There is only one person working at the front desk. A short walk from the hotel to the water bus. Most stores in the area are closed on the weekends. The water bus will take you to San Marco in about 10 mins and it runs very frequent. If you're taking the water bus to the airport, you have to buy a separate water bus ticket. The water bus terminal to the airport is about 15 min walk from the hotel and the ride takes about an hour.

The house is gorgeous and located in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood just a short bus ride from Venice (about 20 minutes). The room is eat-off-the-floor clean with a large TV, 3 small tables, a mini refrigerator, and separate closet area. The bed is large and comfortable. The bathroom is large and lovely with what appear to be hand made tiles. There is a shower but no bath tub. The owners recommended a local restaurant, took us to buy our bus tickets, helped us plan our visit to Venice, and answered every question we could think of and more! Breakfast included juice, tea, fresh bread, fresh fruit, packaged cakes and crackers. We were also served fresh espresso and coffee, a homemade apple cake, and fresh jams made by the owners from fruits grown in their backyard! If we get the chance, without a doubt, we will come here for another visit!

But also if you come by plane and intend to stay at least 2 nights, especially in the summer. The B&B has a big garden with a great pool. There are more than enough seats, chairs and sun beds for all guests. There is a bus stop within 100 m of the premises. The bus takes you in 30 minutes from the relaxing environment in Vanessa House towards the busy center of Venice. There are 3 different rooms (2, 3 or 4 persons). All rooms have a very good air conditioning and a minibar (empty, so you can put it whatever you like) or a refrigerator. The building has a very solid construction so the noise isolation is perfect. The bath rooms are nicely decorated and extremely clean. The hosts Elena and Moreno are so friendly and helpfull that you feel immediately at home. Moreno picked us up at the Mestre station and brought us to the property. Then, he drove us to a shop where we could buy the bus tickets to Venice and the multiple day passes for the bus/vaporetto in Venice. Both will do everything they can to make make your stay enjoyable. We could even join them a couple of times to their favorite restaurant as this was a bit further from the house and somewhat too far to walk over there. They offer a nice breakfast and are open for suggestions or specific needs. Other guests who had a kid with milk allergy, got without special request Soya milk the next day for the youngster. After discussing Parmiggiano cheese one morning, the cheese suddenly appeared amongst the other cheeses for breakfast the next morning. Elena bakes almost every day a fresh cake which is highy recommended. If we go back to Venice in the fiture, it will for sure be in Vanessa House again.
