But they don't. So I will for them. Opened in 1899 (!) dishin' out pastries for over 117 years, Pasticceria Buscaglione gave me and my posse a sampling of excellent Palermitano sweets. It's soo easy to love this sweets shoppe. First, they make a genius cassata and if you've never had this, try it here. A cassata is a dome shaped marzipan cake, ricotta (best in Sicily), enveloped in a marzipan fondant type covering, so delicious and with a coffee will send you to heaven faster than a tiramisu. This version is soo good, my group got them togo. That, in addition to the awesome hand painted marzipan fruit, wrapped nicely for presents to friends, you are treated to a unique experience: you almost don't want to eat them for fear of ruining Art. The mandorle (almond based cookies) were 2die4 as well. Come here for a quick dessert and coffee, after the Teatro Massimo and have an unforgetable espresso-- so good here also. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They speak a little English but the language of food is universal, no need to speak Italian, just point and smile. Hope you enjoy this place, it's a Yelp find. Ciao. Visits: a few Tip: Cassata, mandorle and marzipan fruit are their top buys. But this bakery has been around for centuries, that's how well respected this pasticceria is.

Food My cousin and I hared a Sicilian Cassata, good portion and great taste, although we felt it was a little too sweet. We ordered caffee freddo, basically is soft iced coffee. I was surprised when they gave us the coffee, it was the same taste and texture like my mom used to make, hence the 5 star. Everywhere else either don't have it or it's coffee with ice cubes in it, sad or some creamy coffee that was so sweet that could have been thrown across the room because they were disgusting Service Some were friendly and serving with a smile, but some your typical Sicilian with a serious face. I shouldn't say anything because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, even though I was in the States. Ambience Spacious indoor and outdoor seating average noise, clean and modern.

The prices were outstanding and there seemed to be a good amount of choices. I went with a salami sandwich? I am not sure of the exact name of it, but there was a piece of salami with melted mozzarella on top of a brioche bun. Inside, there was also salami and mozzarella with a little tomato sauce. It was very good. There was plenty of salami and mozzarella, but the tomato sauce lacked. The bread was also very fluffy. I also tried a local favorite, a cassatelle. It was basically a fried turnover with a filling of ricotta cheese and chocolate. It was outstanding. I think what made it great was the cassatelle being served warm and how perfect it was cooked. Will I go back? Easily.
