For Brenham, it was pretty good. What I mean is I wasn't sure what kind of Mexican food they were going to have but every time we drove by while visiting the parking lot was very full which is a good sign. We got take out from here and ordered ahead of time. Rice and refried beans were good. Fajitas were really soft but also lacked a little flavor so some salt or something on the beef would have been nice. Kids meal is super generous and my husband ate one of those and was full. It's pretty good. I walked in on my lunch break and ordered the lunch fajitas for $12.99, with a DP. Everything was easy to eat and properly cooked and portioned. The ambience wasn't overly loud. The staff were friendly, and the service was relatively quick. Keep in mind that it was at the end of lunch service. I enjoyed myself there. When I walked in, noone was at the front. So I waited. The lady came from the back and she automatically thought the couple behind me was there first. I wonder why? We know why. I must start by stating my bar for Tex-Mex food is very high given that I hail from the home of this type of food in South Texas. As always I begin my reviews mentioning the service which was ok, not bad or great just ok. On to the food. As the brought the chips and salsas i dived in. Nothing special to say here, mediocre at best for both the red and green with little unique flavors tasting like generic SA directly from restaurant supplier Sysco. Ordered the Chipotle Chicken with barracho beans, Spanish rice and asked for corn/miaze tortillas instead of the flour that came with the plate. Here is the food, open the tortilla carrier and what do I see, flat disc made with white corn very much like those tortilla frisbees that can be bought from H‑E‑B grocery store. The flavor was the same which was disappointing too say the least. Took a spoonful of the beans and not bad though it could use a bit more spices. On the the chicken which proved to be overcooked and very dry. Luckily the generic, yes again, tomato based sauce poured over it helped though it did not add a lot of additional flavor. Even with the unimpressive experience I'll come back to try something else though my search for good quality Tex-Mex in the Brenham continues. read more

Mariachi's Mexican Restaurant is family owned and features a large menu of traditional Mexican fare at reasonable prices. As soon as you are seated they'll bring you over a bowl of warm tortilla chips with salsa, which is a decided plus if you arrive hungry. Servers are attentive and personable and food is prepared quickly. We ordered Chalupa's and Quesadilla's. Sadly, neither dish was on par with expectations. The Quesadilla's could have been much crispier. Our Chalupa order came on a plate of mostly shredded lettuce and a few scant pieces of chicken which were hidden underneath a sea of greens, sour cream, tomatoes and cheese. We ate the chicken and left the rest. Mariachi's was crowded on a Saturday evening and is the sort of venue that's well supported by the community given the fact they've been around for a long time. If you are looking for Mexican food at a reasonable price point give Mariachi's a try and decide for yourself. read more

After trying all Brenham area Mexican restaurants this one was definitely everyone's favorite. The salsa, though not as thick as most, had more flavor and spice. I would actually rank their salsa, green sauce and queso with some of my usual favorites around Houston. To keep things on the safe side for our first time we had the fajitas. They were on par and maybe a little ahead of the other local spots. The flavor was nice and the cut of meat was good. No complaints there! We had to pay for extra sour cream which was no big deal. The beans and rice were good also. The only thing off hand they could work on is their wait staff. They seemed younger, and while not rude, just missing that great customer service feel you get from some places. She simply took our order but never engaged. I dont know to rate this. The staff are nice. The place is good for hang outs. The food is really good BUT is it worth *rhea? Coz thats what I got. I though it was just me but my friend did too. The only thing we had the same is the salsa and greens that came with our meal. I've never gotten sick like that from a restaurant. We didn't even have any liquor. Will I come back probably not. I have been going to Mariachis for many years. Even after moving away, when I visit, Mariachis is one of the places we frequent. The food is great! My favorite meal is the burritos de fajita! My hubby loves their nachos. Overall, they have pretty good food. I will say that sometimes their service is a little hit or miss depending on the amount of people there. This restaurant doesn't appreciate Mother's or Father's, and I say this because I visit my family for these special times in May & June. On Sunday Lunch for Mother's Day 2021, my Mom asked me to go ahead to get a table at Mariachi's Restaurant for the 1st time since the opening of the post pandemic season, the staff sat me at a table for 6-persons. About 20-30mins later, in walks my Mom, Dad, Bro & Sister in law w/1-of their sons. As My Family Was Walking In, the wait staff was arguing w/me to leave the table where they had just served me my meal, the Asst Mamager came out and was moving my plate of food w/o my permission to the next table of four! Yes, I was so appalled, and I told them my family was walking in the door! I was so upset, I had lost my appetite as no one has ever treated me so poorly in any restaurant ever in my life! I asked to have my meal packed up, paid for it, & Left. I should've asked to have it for free, but I planned to NEVER go back because of their poor treatment of me as a long standing customer. In June 2021, my Mom asked me again to go ahead of the family to get a table at Mariachi's on Father's Day wknd. This time, I saw my Dad was there waiting for everyone (6-persons w/an additional 3-persons as my sister has come in from out of town w/2-young adult children) w/his Oxygen Tank. I asked for the Manager, and I asked for a FREE MEAL because of the way his wait staff treated me during Mother's Day weekend. He only decided to offer my Dad a FREE MEAL, and explained they had a new policy of not seating a party until all the people had arrived. THEY MADE FIVE OF IS WAIT ESPECIALLY MY DAD until my Bro, his wife, and his son came in. My brother asked why we where standing as the restaurant seemed to have tables? In 5-mins, my brother asked to speak to the manager as we were only waiting for my Mom & one of my nieces to arrive. The food took twenty minutes. I fell ill after this restaurant visit. Again, I told myself I would not attend any meals with my family nor help assist my Mom by arriving early to get a table. The wait staff probably spit in our beverages, barfed or pooped in our food bc I was sick after that. I cannot recommend that restaurant to ANYONE!! read more

I've been here twice now had a good first experience decided to get a quesadilla that was good and so are their margaritas. However the next time I went I decided to get their burger which comes with fries. The burger is a little weird cause the bun is sweet and it comes with a lot of pickles, but the fries, no thank you, they tasted like they were frozen not made fresh. Mariachi's is nothing special, and there are much better (and cheaper) Tex Mex options in Brenham. Beware of the Fajitas - Went out for a nice dinner with the wife and ordered Beef Fajitas for two at $26. When we received the order the amount of meat looked skimpy but did not want to make an issue and ruin the moment. I did ask the waiter who summoned the manager and her response was "oh, we ran out of meat - I was going to come over and tell you". Seems she would have been ok had we eaten and left and hoped we had not noticed. Looks like they are shorting customers meat quantity and hoping no one notices - beware they are not worth the $26. They may have this same shorting tactic on all their food to save a buck - will not return to this restaurant - had been one of our favorites for a few years read more

When we got there, they only had 3 tables that had customers, not busy at all.....it took about 5 minutes for them to bring chips and salsa, and another 5 minutes to take drink order. Once we ordered, the food took a long time to arrive. The salsa was not good, very watery and no flavor. The food was okay, but not anything I would order again. For 2 people the bill was $22...we drank water and only had one entree and 1 appetizer. Very high price, bad service, and so-so food. I definitely won't go back. read more

My friend and I had an early dinner here. I ordered one sour cream chicken enchilada and received a full plate of cheese enchiladas. They took them back but brought back the same plate and said they would only charge for the one enchilada. I accepted it but they weren't the best. I also ordered a $9 margarita and it wasn't good at all. Neither of us liked their hot sauce. We had to ask for the red sauce 'cause they only brought out the green. Wasn't our favorite Mex food. :( read more
