The closest Marie Calendar's near me closed 3 years ago. I was happy to be near this one in Whittier and made a special stop. I love their turkey club croissant sandwich (buttery, flaky, flavorful), apple pie (perfect crust and not overly sweet), corn bread (perfect texture: moist with a bit of grain in every bite), chicken pot pie (100% comfort food and again with the perfect pie crust), and their fresh strawberry pie (this is my all time favorite since I first had it as a child - core memory!). The fresh strawberry pie is MUST try! Cailin, my server was so friendly and helpful. 5 stars for her excellent service. There is plenty of free parking on site. The ambiance is pure nostalgia. I love that they haven't changed the decor from since I was a child. A classic.

Been wanting to try the banana crème pie because I've heard so much about it but it wasn't to our tasting It's a lot of crème as the filling is mainly crème. I think if it had a thinner layer it would be more balanced with the crust and texture

It had been ages since I had been to a Marie Callender's. (There aren't that many still around.) My nostalgia got the best of me, though, and I visited the Whittier location which is, supposedly, one of their better ones. Overall, I was pleased. This is one of their classic locations, with a separate bar. Sadly, the former salad bar, though still there, sits empty. The service started off poorly. They still do a lot of take-out business, and it seems this takes priority over seating guests. Once I was taken to my table, however, I was greeted by a terrific server who clearly took pride in her job. I had a tuna melt, something I've been checking-out at a lot of places recently. The version here was one of the better ones. Overall, a very good experience. I'll be back again soon. This is yet another one of those classics that deserves to stick around. And there are many more classic dishes on their menu to get reacquainted with.

Me and my family LOVE it here!!! It's the best the food is always good service is always amazing and I just love the comfort being at this restaurant brings me. It's so sentimental for my family since it was my grandma's favorite, but their food is honestly always so delicious so we're happy to visit. I get the pot pie trio every time and it is so much food! You also get a cornbread which wasn't added because I ate it as soon as it came out. The potato cheese soup is another must. We tried the potato skins and it was real bacon!!! Not the fake bacon bites. Everything was so delicious, we love it so much we get chicken pot pie and soup in the summer! Will definitely be back

Pumpkin muffin, strawberry muffin and cornbread is a MUST!!!!

We came for breakfast and we were NOT disappointed!!!!! We ordered the different muffins to try anddddd OMG! Delicious! Be aware breakfast ends at 12 so be early! But all the food we ordered was delicious! Our server was Eric and let me tell you, he was amazing! Attentive, friendly and he kept our coffee running hot and fresh! Good service is a must in my book and Eric surpassed my expectations! I live a block a way from the MC in Monterey Park and I would still choose to drive 25 mins to come to this one, the ambiance and the energy are just warmer here!

Was really impressed by how staff handled the huge unexpected crowd on a weekday night. I believe it was busy because of the Rose Bowl, not sure, but on January 7th, it was packed! They didn't even have enough servers to open every table area. But despite it all, they moved quickly and had top notch customer service. Shout out to Jackie for being super sweet and amazing! She ran the front counter with ease and grace. May her food always be delicious and good things always come her way. Didn't see our usual favorite server, Keith, but our server was good. I don't remember her name, should have written it down. Food was excellent as always. I got the pie trio, with my favorite, shepherd's pie, along with cream cheese pie. Also tried the lemon muffin which was delicious! Thank you Jackie for reserving it for me! I saw it was the last one and didn't want to miss out. Looking forward to coming again.

Didn't know Marie calendar's still existed. Husband took the fam here to see how it is. Beef stroganoff still as good as I remember it! I don't know of too many places that serve that dish so I'm happy to be able to have it again. Cornbread is more like cake than bread (which is what I prefer... moist and soft) and the garlic bread is really good too. It's nice and quiet on a Sunday night. I eye roll at the kids choosing Kraft Mac and cheese kids meal (pricey at $12.99), but they let us substitute garlic bread for fruit and it was a nice selection.... They let my girl choose only watermelon so she was happy. Service was pretty good, food arrived much quicker than expected. The kids didn't finish the placemat activities yet! It's a bit of a drive since we were looking around the trains and such like tourists lol. Anyway would return!

Let's start by saying I have lived in Whittier area my entire life so Marie's has been an institution for me. Service hear is always friendly and quick. The food is what you would expect from Marie's good quality prep of the standards. Their cornbread continues to be world famous. The Cobb salad I so enjoy has changed over the years, but its is still one of my go to places for that salad. The Vegetable Minestrone was exceptional and surprised me on how good it was although should be served a bit hotter. The decor and all its charm remains the same although it's very dated. Needs an infusion of capital to modernize the dinning area - WITHOUT losing the Cooper ceiling and what makes Marie's recognizable. Good example - lose the salad bar which has turned in to storage for cutlery and napkins. Keep Going Maries !!

Mimosa with cranberry and orange juice very good!

Came to this Marie Callander's in Whittier after not being here in over 20 years and we were sat right away and serviced by this amazing fun energy server named Eric, he gave me the recommendations of having breakfast Chilaquiles. I must say I was very impressed with how delicious these turned out to be. The food came out fast as well as my mimosa which was one of his favorite specials, orange and Cran juice to mix with our champagne. The Blueberry berry streusel muffin was such a hit. I love it all here thank you for having such amazing service and an amazing server. The food was delicious. Definitely coming back for breakfast again add to hope to have our new server Erick again as well. It is servers like him that make food that much more enjoyable for me. The ambience is great and just coming back to seeing him brighten my day again would make that much more of an enjoyable meal. Thank you.

The iced flight was also a great way to sample several of their flavors without having to commit to just one. For food, the Birria Benedict was the standout and easily our favorite dish. I loved the Mexican-inspired spin on a brunch classic, and the rich birria paired so well with the eggs and Benedict preparation. We also really enjoyed getting a mix of savory dishes with the Mole Chilaquiles and Huevos Rancheros before finishing with The Journey Pancakes for something sweet. Overall, Madres Brunch offers a huge variety of creative food and drinks, especially if you enjoy Mexican flavors and fun twists on traditional brunch. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool.
