This place is super cute and quaint. Its aesthetics are an experience alone, regardless of food. The baked goods, although mostly sweets, are very delicious and picturesque. The coffee and other refreshments are spot on as well. Overall, it's a great spot to have an experience with a visiting friend or a nice quiet place to retreat to by yourself for a little while. The tall strong dude is super friendly. He always serves us and he's great. One time he even sat with us for a shot. It was a fun night. I'm not a hookah person, that's the only thing I don't like, all the smoke and such. But they have a nice selection of teas, which is always nice. Like other tea shops in town, they offer a pot of sale tea on the warmer for anyone who enters. There are also tea accessories on the shelves. I bought a half-kilo of leaves, one quarter of Moroccan mint green tea and a quarter of chai. I also picked up one of those little metal tea-balls, whatever they're called, the ones you stuff with leaves and then steep in the mug. Both teas were of very good quality, and continue to keep well in the cupboard. The little steel ball thing though, of German make, has loosened a bit over the course of a couple months and now leaf-dust and particles escape through the seam between the two halves. It was cheap enough, so I guess the old "you get what you pay for" has bit me again. This shop is another example of Malasaña-type shops opening in Lavapies. What was a relatively dangerous and seedy neighborhood is changing, and places like this one shall be the bellwethers of the gentrified Lavapies to come.

My god the cake is the best thing I've had in 3 weeks of travelling across Spain The carrot cake has this lightness to it. And the mascarpone (I think) topping is also very airy and light, with the right amount of sweetness to complement the cake. Inside the cake is pastry cream. This is important because most carrot cakes use cream cheese which can feel too sweet and fatty/creamy. Only 3.9 euros for this delicious masterpiece. A way better deal than some of the hybrid pizza and cake shops that are just a few blocks up the street (perhaps it's more touristy on the main road) I could've eaten the whole cake. I get seriously testy if I don't eat within an hour of waking up so I turned to Yelp to find a quick breakfast spot to help me survive until our mid-afternoon lunch. Pomme Sucre came to the rescue. After a 5 minute walk I arrived to a bright and clean bakery with a display of gorgeous pastries and a nice selection of baked goods. J and I were starving so ordered our two café con leches and then decided to share the croissant mixto, croissant de almendra, pain au chocolat and the pastel de crema. The croissants tasted like they had been baked only minutes before and each one was so tasty. The ham and cheese they used for the croissant mixto had nice flavours and was topped with a light cream cheese to tie everything together. The chocolate and the almond croissants were both perfectly sweet but not over the top. And the cream cake was light and delicious. We washed everything down with their coffee and couldn't believe that we got everything for around €12. This place may not provide a typical Spanish breakfast but you will not regret it!
