This rating is for the billing department only. Very satisfied with the medical care received. Tried calling several times to pay by phone. Left messages and never got a call back. Sent the payment via mail. It was returned because the credit card number was incomplete (my fault). Called again several times to pay over the phone. Left more messages. Received a letter from them advising that if we don't contact them (AT THE SAME NUMBER WE HAD CALLED A DOZEN TIMES) or pay them within 10 days they were going to refer it to a collection agency. The doctors I saw were great, but the billing department is terrible. I never received any of the 5 bills they claim to have mailed to me. I finally got a notice I was being sent to collections. They insist its not their fault I didn't receive the bills and the post office somehow delivered all my mail except their theirs. I had to pay over the phone without ever seeing what I was actually paying for to avoid collections. read more

Marin HealthCare District, Billing Department-----0 stars--total incompetence and total inefficiency..They don't answer the phone-they don't call u back...They keep sending the same bill to me that was already paid. When needing an explanation on my bill which did not balance since did not record one of my payments. If they had my charges and credits would have balanced out instead the woman I spoke to ended up hanging up on me. She couldn't explain or didn't understand to took the easy way out. All I asked is please send me another copy of my bill with the last payment deducted and down went the telephone. Not the first time I have trouble with them. read more

We had an eerily similar experience to everyone who has written reviews regarding the Billing Department at Marin Healthcare District. To be clear and fair, my husband's medical care and his doctor have been top notch. However, the billing department is an utter disaster. We have had several years now of documented discussions with them about double billing, not applying payments payments due to their own change in billings systems, and not honoring payment agreements (agreements that were in writing, no less). The latest "fun" was an unexpected bill from a collections agency. One billing rep stated unequivocally that our account would be paid in full upon receipt of one last check. After we sent that check, we received yet another bill, ostensibly for other dates of service. When we protested, we were told they would review the account because they had been having issues with "the changeover in our billing system". Then they promptly sent the disputed amount to a collections agency. Despite acknowledging after the fact that they sent the bill to collections in error, they now claim there is nothing they can do and we have to negotiate with the collections agency. The whole affair has been utterly unprofessional, disorganized, and bordering on criminal. Avoid them or be prepared to scrutinize and fight every last cent. read more
