They are good to ask for advice as far as how you want to get things tailored and they don't mind that you bring things back if it didn't quite meet your needs. They transformed my wedding dress! I purchased a dress from SimplyBridal knowing I would need one substantial alteration, the dress had nude netting between the bust down to just above the belly button. I loved everything about the dress except this part. The ladies at the bridal shop thought a straight forward alteration could be done to close the space. I took my dress to Marin for this alteration, to tack the sash to my dress and a bustle. They informed me I would need new lace to fill the space. A bummer but they directed me to some fabric shops that could provide good options. I found lace that was nearly exact (luckily) and brought the fabric to Marin to work their magic. I also found blush silk that matched my grooms tie to have them create the sash and tack it to the dress. My dress went from "eh" to perfection! I can not recommend this shop enough! Was quoted 65 for hemming in sides, 75 for tapering sleeves, and 75 for hemming the bottom of my jacket. He gave me an honest assessment that I did not need to do the other two to run my bill up over $200 which I really appreciate. I also paid up front and was given a receipt so that there was documentation regarding the transaction. I got my completed suit tailored and I was very happy with the results. I needed to find a new tailor after my regular one kept closing his shop and was never available plus he always commented on my weight (lol) and parking sucked. Anyway, Diego and Alex and their crew are super conscientious and skilled. They will tell you straight up if something can't be tailored because the style just can't be altered (like making wide-leg jeans narrower). Lately I seem to have developed a habit of buying fiddly puff-sleeved blouses and these guys have tailored the sleeve lengths and cuffs perfectly. Sometimes it takes more than one fitting but they always take the time to make them right. The prices seem to match the complexity of the job and pants hemming is very affordable. Also they're both super calm and collected and don't get rattled if I bring things back for a redo, thanks Diego and Alex :D I've never had to request a rush job but I'm sure they would be up to the task. One time I brought in some pants and Alex delivered them to my house since I was going on a trip and couldn't stop by to pick them up. Out of town on business and brought some items to be altered due to the fact that this is Los Angeles and I was bound to find a good tailor here. I am so glad that I decided on Marin Tailor out of all the others! Marin tailor is not so pretentious as to call themselves the Gucci of tailoring and not a hole in the wall joint where you take your chances. Diego is a master of his craft. He has an eye for fit and listens to what you want. He had me try everything on and in minutes I was walking out knowing that I went to the right place. I brought in two higher end off the rack sport coats with surgeon cuffs, not only did he know what needed to be done and how to match the shoulders the exact way it came, but he also suggested opening the sleeve up so it wouldn't be too tight at the bicep. I didn't even know that could be done... Above and beyond! The coats came out perfectly and I couldn't be happier. The shirts and slacks I brought in were altered to perfection and looked just as good as if I had bought them that way. The prices on all the alterations were fair and I would even say they were lower than other tailors with half the expertise. My girlfriend also had her dress fitted too. Out of all of the tailors I have been too, Marin Tailor did the finest job. Alex Marin is top notch. He is more than exceptional and will give you just what you need. His customer service skills is impeccable. When I first came in I thought I had to wait as there were quite a few customers however Alex was able to handle myself and all customers with ease. I was able to get in and out within 10 min and my suit came back perfect. As someone who is 6'5" tall buying dress shirts or suits off the shelf rarely fit me. I was more than impressed and happy that Alex and the amazing tailors were able to provide excellent recommendations. I couldn't ask for more. I came to this tailor shop for the simple fact my go to tailor had to close down due to covid-19. The reason I rated this place a 3 star is because they don't pin down the garment so the customer could see a preview of what is going to look after it's tailor . Secondly is saves time for the customer to keep coming back if the garment needs more tailoring. If they would pin it down instead of marking it down the customer could get an idea how it will look and the flexibility to take it more in or out depending on the look the customer looking for. I'm a picky customer, I know the look I'm going for and specially if I'm paying high price for tailoring I expect for them get it right. I get all my clothes tailor and being doing so for years. I even get my boys clothes tailor as well. Location looks clean , the sewing on the garments looks neat as well. Just disappointed when asked to pin it down they say it's the same as marking it. Still I let them tailor three pants for me. None of them came to my liking . I had to leave the pants behind 3 times until they semi got it right. Lastly I got in contact with another tailor. He got it right. He actually pin it down to give me the option if it needed more taper or not. Also you pay upfront for a job that's isn't even started. Your paying upfront for a job you may not like as well. The upside about that they get to tailor your clothes until, is your liking but the inconvenience of coming back it forth is a big negative for me. read more

I am not sure what happened with my visit here. I dropped off jeans to be sewn, dresses to be mended, and patches to be sewn onto a jacket. They sent half the stuff back without doing any work! I've been coming to Diego at Marin Tailor for two years now for suit alterations and have been very impressed by the service and results. Getting older has added a few inches to my waistline, but he was able to make my old suits (even some 6+ years old) fit great. I also recently brought in three suits I ordered online from Spier and McKay. While the jacket was a little snug around the midsection, all other measurements were perfect. Instead of trying to con me into paying $100+ for a jacket alteration, Diego simply suggested that we raise the height of the button. The fix was perfect and the jacket fits great. Easily saved me over $100. Quick tip - If you buy an off-the-rack suit, leave the tags on it and go see Diego before the return period expires. All brands fit differently (in my case, Saks Fifth Avenue suit pants are too around the thighs). Diego was honest and indicated that the alteration would be expensive and likely not up to par due to the limited amount of fabric available to widen the legs. So instead of getting alterations, I took Diego's advice and exchanged the Saks suit for a label more suitable to my body type that needed limited alterations. In sum, Diego could have made extra $$$ off me, but instead offered a better suggestion, which resulted in me getting a better fitting suit with limited alterations. You don't find that kind of honesty everywhere. Marin Tailor has earned a life-long customer. read more

My boyfriend needed dress pants, dress shirt and a sports jacket altered for an event we were going to. My boyfriend being the big procrastinator that he is, put his outfit together 2 days before the event, knowingly he wouldn't fit anything off the shelf. He brought his clothes to Alex and told him about our plans and that he needed his clothes back ASAP. Alex immediately took measurements and a day & a half later, the clothes was ready to be picked up. My boyfriend tried it on and the pants & jacket fit perfect!
