They have a great selection of wines, beers, & drinks, in the house. There is limited parking, around the area. This is not a place for those on a tight budget - the wine & specials can make it very expensive. However, it is a great place for a special occasion/celebration. Or a romantic meal. In the Summer months, this is a fantastic place to sit out on the decking area, which creates a pleasant atmosphere - al fresco style.

The theme is fairly old, but it definately has a comfortable feel to it. The toilet facilities are spotless & you are supplied with clean towels, soap & hot water! The music taste would suit the more mature person, but it is played as background music, so it is bearable. The pub does have a downside to it, in that it doesnt serve food, but crisps, nuts etc - can be purchased to fill a small gap. It is very popular with the locals, as well as people travelling from the other surrounding towns/areas. This is a very clean pub and all facilities are good. The staff are very friendly and eager to please. Local beers are available, along with the regular type of drinks - and prices are reasonable. There is a selection of bar snacks and restaurant-type of food. I have, personally, only ever had food from the bar snacks, but the portions are good and well presented. There is also, a beer garden and smoking facilities. Throughout the week, entertainment is on, and they often have music form local acts. Football fans will also find that many of the current matches are shown on t.v.

The food on offer was typically pub (basically crossing every type of food across the world and back again...) but the fish and chips were great, salmon looked tasty and my dads linguine hit the spot. Most mains were under a tenner. Overall a great place to visit and I'd happily go back again tomorrow!

We had a particularly charming young server who helped us try samples of the various cordials - they are all very sweet but lovely distinct flavours. We all opted for a full size helping of the hot lemon and ginger, my dad even snatched some extra of mine, he was enjoying it so much! My bf added gingseng to his (this combo wasn't on the menu but the server immediately suggested she could add it after he mentioned he was torn between the two). I tried the blood tonic milkshake after discovering the foul-sounding concoction actually involves hibiscus, rosehip and nettles. Any health benefits were of course ruled out by the ice cream, cream and (giant) flake topping, but it was yummy. Bf got an ice cream sundae, the "small" version being the side of his head (the large is normally recommended for sharing). My dad pounced on some lemon cake which he loved. If you don't have a sweet tooth there are a few savoury options, including a good selection of teas. But it really is a sweet flavour-oriented place - one of my fave features was that you can get a jam sandwich. The price point is really reasonable, sub £3 for the milkshakes which is excellent value, particularly considering you are in such a pretty environment. I'd recommend any of the cordials - we bought a few to take home and have used them as hot drinks, with soda water and as icecream floats - delicious! The shop itself doesn't look to have changed since it was first set up. Fantastic wooden pew-type benches, ancient soda syphons, antique counter and display material - everything is just so wonderful. Having said all that, one gets very quickly bored and we left to find a pub! (At that time there wasn't one in Rawtenstall that served real ale!)
