I am horrified at the treatment received by a Marina police officer named Ryan Parra. He has a very…read morebad attitude and used foul language while violating my rights of search and seisure without any probable cause. The more I spoke up about the violations the more angered he became. I'm pretty sure he trained on deescalation but for some reason wasn't exercising it. My friend also complained on the way he was being handled. Just a lack of respect on the departments part as 2 other officers watched on but didn't correct Parra. Guess that's the code of silence many officers are prone to abide by. Long story short, we weren't doing anything wrong but was forced to identify ourselves, step out of vehicle, and both searched against our will. This is not right as we were never committing any crime. A city I used to feel safe in, now concerns me just to drive thru.. I've heard stories of their misconduct but now am a true witness. Shame on Marina PD!

I work here. It's a huge facility, repurposed from the old VA hospital. As such, the facility is…read moredeeply spooky and quite haunted. On our floor, we're at the very end of a long hallway that dead ends. And our offices constantly smell of burnt toast. Why? No one knows, and it's kinda creepy. There are none of the classical "cold spots", but there are moving "hot spots", where several people will suddenly feel a large increase in temperature. Wierd. There are also odd flushing noises from walls that are basically just office partitions, and sounds of running water where there are no water pipes. Lights flicker, chairs and equipment randomly rearrange on their own. Phones randomly ring with no caller data. Wireless drops in wierd ways at odd times. I like the work, and I like the people, but the creepy pasta factor is way high.

The clerks have zero customer service skills. When I say zero I mean not one drop of decency in…read moretheir body. No matter how respectful you are they speak to you like you're less than them. I also would like to say that if you go to court on a traffic ticket and the citing officer shows up, then no matter what you say or do you are guilty. He showed up to defend his citations of not 1 or 2 drivers, but more in the same session. Only god knows, how many unfortunate victims had to just pay the outrageous fines from the citations he had issued and could not defend themselves. Yes, this narcissist is out of control. Regular annual passes are $80 ( under 62). To buy a senior pass, must be 62+. To buy online at the website $10 extra, for processing. Covers everyone in your car, for National parks. If you visit a field office, get the card immediately and paper maps ( Fort Ord). I visited the state parks website and they are sending me a card, too. Fabulous, because I am a country girl and prefer nature walks. Concrete jungles (cities) are good for shows, shopping and spending $$$, but I prefer the fresh air, sounds and sights of nature.
